They replayed the December 2010 game at Pitt on NFL Network on Saturday. Did anyone see it? if you did you would have seen exactly why I defend Mark so much, what an outstanding game. Maybe that guy is dead as far as being our QB but that's the guy we could win Super Bowls with. Just a great performance.
of course, because one game makes the career. you have to stop looking at the few bright moments the guy has had and think that he can be that way consistently, or ever inconsistently. he has NEVER shown the ability to play well over stretches of the season. most of us have come to grips with that, the jets front office appears to have come to grips with that. i just dont understand why you will look at one game and say THIS is the reason i think he can lead us to a superbowl when there are 50 other games that say he cant.
It doesn't, it's just an example. The over the top folks like yourself act like he has never shown he can play when in fact we all know that isn't true. We don't make either title game w/ his postseason play, we don't even make the playoffs in 2010 w/o his reg season play but b/c he wasn't a great fantasy QB you guys think he sucked. He sucked in 2012, he was really good in 2010. I realize his time is quickly coming to an end here, what I am trying to prevent in the future is this repeating itself. In 2015 when Geno struggles we don't need to run him out of town, sometimes patience w/ young QBs will pay off but Geno will struggle, rex will be fired, the new GM will be fired and we'll go through this vicious cycle again b/c of our foolish fanbase.
No Junc...clearly you dont get the Worst Case Offense. Mark just Sucks. Forget the Win in Pitt, or playoff wins in Indy, and NE. Mark has to suck, because off the offensive skill talent drafted to support him...oh...wait..that never happened... It must be because he had such stellar offensive coaching......oh...wait...that didnt hapen either. Forget all that Mark just sucks....see how it works. sanchez supporters need to use context, but somehow the actual context of the state of the teams offense doesnt count. You need to wonder, with a rookie, and in jury waiting to happen...what the rush is to push the 8.5 million dollar man out the door....
he hasnt struggled for half a season, he has struggled terribly for the better part of 4 years. year one he was a rookie, everyone just expects him to struggle and he did. the team ended up doing better than everyone really thought and snuck in the playoffs at 9-7. won 2 games and everything was looking up. 2010 was a decent year for him and he looked like he progressed some, however he still did alot of things that worried people like myself. he was better but still inconsistent. but thats ok he is headed in the right direction was the mantra of most people on the board. 2011 started out pretty good but he really really struggled during hte year and it ended terribly. a portion of the issues in the locker room and on the field was directly on mark. he did not play well but most people were still hoping he could regain his form. there was definitely not a revolt of hatred for him after last year. there were some people who lost confidence but most people were pretty pro sancho. then last year happened and everyone realized that things were not getting better they were getting worse. i understand what you are doing at this point but i really dont think that most jets fans turned on him too quickly, i think that he was given a ton of leash by the fanbase. i think many fans blindly followed him because of the teams success in his first 2 years. and their want for him to become "my quarterback" remember the sanchez lovefest that was going on for probably 2 years with guys posting about how much they would want to be sancho and all the ass he gets and they were rating it and everything. i really dont think the fanbase or the guys on this board cut him short, i think he got a 4 year term and didnt end up doing terribly well personally and the team regressed during that period as well. he is a one term president, its time to move on we dont have another 4 years to spend hoping that mark will one day play consistently the way he did in the game you referred to. now me personally, no i didnt like the pick when it was made i didnt like him in his first year and thought it a joke that they had to color code plays. he frustrated me in his second year too, BUT and i said it at the time he played clutch that year, even though he put the team in bad situations he led them to big scores at the end of games a number of times and i gave him credit for that. while still realizing that we were in need of scores at the end of games in part due to poor qb play during the first 55 minutes of the game. the second haloti ngata hit him in the center of his back in baltimore it was over. you could almost tell that night and looking back on it later it was evident. the past few years have been a nightmare with him. i had hoped tehy could find a way to get rid of him after last year but he got his one more shot and he shit the bed. i think its over now. for the future... i dont really like geno smith but being a second rounder we can see what we have and move on if he doesnt have "it"
he struggled in a few games as a rookie had a few bad gams as a 2nd year player a few bad games as a 3rd year player all NORMAL stuff for a young QB. In year 4 he was brutally bad but that doesn't invalidate what he did in years 1-3 especially considering the lack of healthy talent he had to work with.
I'm beginning to hink I have more faith in Sanchez than NYjunc....or maybe it's hope. I'd hate to see his career go down the toilet here. But as I've said numerous times, Sanchez was lucky to be drafed by he Jets. He got to start immediately on a strong team that managed to wiggle into the playoffs in his first two years. But the fact is, Sanchez failed to improve his play. He sunk to the level of the talent around him. Forget wins & losses, if he had simply shown something out there...some signs that showed that he was improving, then he wouldn't be competing with a rookie or a 35 yr. old qb (that hasn't played in 2 years) for his job. At this point I wouldn't be that shocked to see Garrard under center to startt the season. Sanchez looked that bad at the tail end of last season. I remember arguing....err, debating with people here when we won a game where Sanchez threw fo 82 yards. They thought that was great! I thought it was ridiculous to think that could get us anywhere, and it didn't. So I'd love to See Sanchez turn it around. After all, we're stuck with his dumbass contract. I've watched the Jets struggle for way too many years... to sit & smile through another season like the last two is too much too ask. We deserve better football than what this team has been giving us.
yep, he was drafted onto a loaded team that had been used to winning in January which was why w/ a future HOF QB they couldn't even make the playoffs in 2008 and why they hadn't won a single playoff game since 2004 and as many as 2 playoff games in one postseason since 1982. What a juggernaut he landed w/! He played well that game against Indy despite low yardage #s, I suppose you guys were much more impressed throwing for over 300 in the loss to NE on Thanksgiving. It boggles my mind how we have access to more info and video than ever before but fans still don't truly understand what they are watching.
Can't help but think Junc would devalue the performance of other qbs if they led their team to a win while scoring 13 offense points against a secondary/defense missing their best player.
watch the game, under immense pressure(physically and mentally) he was outstanding. W/ or w/o their best player Pitt's D was great and on the road in a place where we had NEVER won before(whether at Heinz or Three Rivers) mark led us to the W. We had a great scoring chance halted on a penalty where mark completed a pass to the Pitt 5. The D allowed a 96 yd drive which included 3rd down conversions of 3rd and 10 and 3rd and SEVENTEEN Next possession marl has a beautiful deep ball to Braylon which stes us up to take the lead back. After we scored to take a 10-7 lead the D allowed Pitt to score immediately to tie it going into the half. D allows pitt to score Td on opening drive of 3rd qtr to trail 17-10. we came right back and scored a TD to tie it. Our next possession we kicked a Fg to take lead our D got saved b./c Drew Coleman knocked the ball from ben to stop Pitt. we got it back and had a long drive which ended w/ a punt pinning Pitt inside their 5, we got a safety the next play. Pitt got the ball at their 8 w/ 2 mins left and had 1st and G at our 10. Our D was pushed around all day, mark Sanchez was outstanding. Stop looking at boxscores and start watching games.
Its good to see most of the NFL engaging in a bidding war over the underrated Chaz Schilens, thanks to Mark Sanchez.
It just always seems to me that whenever Sanchez wins it almost never involves circumstances other than Sanchez playing outstanding, where as other qbs were fortunate to get turnovers or have their defense hold the other team to X amount of points.
I don't have time to search a 400 page thread for specific examples. I'm pretty sure you made the defense allowed 0-X points argument with Eli. I vaguely remember you devaluing a performance Fitzpatrick had against the Pats two years ago because the Bills defense forced a few turnovers (despite allowing 4 or 5 tds). It just seems like big plays made by the Jets defense or special teams just don't weigh as heavily wins as they do for other teams/qbs.
I will make it easy for you. I have said the difference btw NYG in the '07/'11 title games and NYJ in the '09/'10 title games was the play of the defenses. Both QBs played well but only one teams D stepped up and that was NYG each time. Eli was really good in those SB runs as was mark in his title game runs. Switch the QBs and you see the same team results. Yeah, Buf forced 4 Tos and even scored a TD. I would say they played a pretty big role in that game. That doesn't take away from how good Fitz played, he played really well that day but w/o the D forcing all those TOs they don't win. show me the jets scoring on D and forcing 4 TOs where I gave Mark all the credit? Don't confuse separate arguments.
Go on! Show him an absolutely perfect example in a sport that has so many different variables that it is impossible to do so. Show him!
No, see you are still not getting it. Variables only matter, if they arent Sparano,Gilyard,Gates,Rueland, Schillens, or the injuries that forced rhem into service. Anyone trying to hang 2012 on Sanchez, needs to ignore that to do so... Maybe, someone could explain what QB would have played well in that offense last year. Boomer says that QB doesnt exist, and hes not a Sanchez supporter. Maybe someone colud make a prediction on how Sparanos offense will fare this yearwithout Sanchez.,,,oh...right, I forgot..,he is out of the coordinator business,
Explain to me how his play has stayed the same regardless of the talent around him? Even his numbers back up that point. What are the variables for that?
