I know its super early probably way too early but Id like to keep this section alive during the season. It tends to die down during the season and comes alive once the season is over for obvious reasons. But during the season if you see players that you think fit our team or somebody we should pay attention to then let it be known. I know we needed a TE this draft and from the sounds of it Tyler Eifert is definitely worth the price of admission in Cincy. As far as the Qb situation we may not even get a QB next year depending on how Geno does. We do need that #1 Receiver as well as a Pass Rush OLB and I think we will need a Impact Safety plus IMO a fast ILB because Harris will one day need to be replaced so we need to groom the next in line. So if there are any players you like and see in games post them and if they happen to have highlight film send a youtube link.
*Aaron Lynch DE South Florida*Height: 6-6. Weight: 270.*Projected 40 Time: 4.74..... He looks like he can create havoc and make a transition to OLB. He did attend Notre Dame but transferred to Florida and had to sit out last year due to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDxITkekPvE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
here's my dream scenario. we end up with a top 5 pick, just out of reach of Clowney and Bridgewater. move back to 8 or 9 and pick up an extra second. - grab Marqise Lee in the first. - trade back into the first and grab Kyle Van Noy. the second round I'd take David Yankey or Gabe Jackson, two early OLine prospects I like. also, go after Jimmy Graham. we will have more than enough money.
If we draft a TE, I hope it is Austin Seferian Jenkins. Guy is the next big thing at TE. Or go after Jimmy Graham in FA. Though I do wonder how much the Saints offense and having Brees as a QB helps Graham.
Supprise no mention of Aurthr Lynch from Georgia yet. He's the best all around TE in the SEC. A big target who catches well and is a good in line blocker. We need some one like him unless one of the unknowns on the roster really step up.
Jenkins put up some eye popping stats and is a big target, but lets see how his personal and legal troubles play out this season if he is unsuspended from the huskys. I don't know how bad the crash was or what the team is doing about it yet, I didn't really follow the story after it first happened.
Draft Marqise Lee, part ways with Holmes, Sign Jimmy Graham. Draft Defense (or perhaps a RB depending on how this years RB group looks for us) for the rest of the draft. We'll need a OLB, safeties, and perhaps a quicker MLB, and we'll have a second, two thirds (at least, maybe more from comp picks) and many late round picks due to comp picks. This retool is going very well.
Positionally: WR, TE, Pass Rushing LB Also, depending on how Kenrick Ellis fares this year, I wouldn't be shocked to see even more picks invested in the DLine since its becoming clear that the Jets want to generate a pass rush via the front four.
My dream scenario: the Jets go 9-7 and get lucky in the playoffs resulting in the 32 pick. They take safety Craig Loston on the pick.
Here we go now. How can our dream scenario be a top five pick in May. Lets have a little faith. Stranger things have happened, we might improve.
My dream scenario: The Jets go 16-0 and dominate in the playoffs resulting in the 32 pick. In this scenario, I would be perfectly happy with drafting a kicker in the 1st.
in that scenario most jets fans still wouldn't be sober enough to realize they picked a Kicker in the first round.
Clear need as of now: 1. TE 2. OLB 3. FS 4. TE 5. OLB 6. SS (Dawan Landry isn't exactly spring chicken - and he is injury prone.) Potential need: 1. QB 2. RB 3. WR 4. RT 5. ILB 6. OG Jets still have a long way to go to replenish the overall talent level. It wasn't stripped thin in a matter of days, and it won't be resolved in a matter of days either. For this reason, I would really love to see Sanchez start for the Jets and tank it. If Jets get good enough draft position, they can trade their picks away and acquire more along the way. Jets already have extra 3rd (from Bucs) so they have 5 picks in first four rounds. If they can trade down with both 1st and 2nd, and get 1 more extra pick each, they will end up with 7 (or more) in the first 4. I'd think this is the way to go.
