Did Wilson get trashed like this? Seems like he flew under the radar and was allowed to just be a rookie. Hell, Wilson transferred from NC State to Wisconsin. Maybe we could dig up some dirt about what a prima donna he was in refusing to give up baseball. He was a mercenary - QB for hire! He likes Twitter just like Geno! He also really religious, just like Tebow! Any one of those could lead to an anonymous source saying he doesn't "fit in" and force him to answer questions about the claim that he's a religious zealot Twitterholic who would gladly desert his team to serve his own selfish wants. Instead of coming in excited to learn, Jets QBs have to deal with this BS. They become defensive. They have the pressure of knowing that the jackals are coming after them minutes after they make a mistake. That pressure causes them to fold. It has happened again, and again, and again. It puts our team at a competitive disadvantage and I am sick of it.
His first comments since getting trashed by the NY media were the politically correct statements we needed to hear. He can't be firing back.
and an entity like ESPN (and I don't care how big it is) is a clown car of a network. Overstaffed by the untrained, unethical, and unwise. It is a money machine. And anyone is fair game to them
espn sucks shit i feel like ive been out of the loop because i stopped watching that trash channel. the only thing im up on is jets and knicks news haha
Geno Smith was taken on the 39 pick. If he succeeds the Jets are making out like bandits. If he fails, well he was a 2nd round pick and it's not like the team has so much invested in him that failure will rock the foundation. Geno Smith fails and the Jets draft a QB next year. The media is going to do whatever sells at the moment. The concept of journalistic integrity is completely absent in the tabloid environment anyway. Think of tabloid journalists as you would ambulance chasing lawyers. It's the same thing. Make a buck however you can. I'm pumped just because I think Geno has a chance to be really good and the Jets gave up the 39 pick for that. If it happens we are so set. If it doesn't then we'll all be talking about Bridgewater, Manziel, Murray, McCarron and Boyd next year. We'd have been doing that for sure if Geno didn't fall to us.
Yeah, I really hope we can develop him, because we badly need something to go right for us after all these years of getting screwed in the draft over and over again. Anyway, not sure if this was posted here, but here is some positive news: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2013/05/geno_smith_scores_big_in_footb.html FWIW, I did some research to see what some other QBs came up with. Geno Smith: 2064 Mark Sanchez: 151 Stafford: 714 Bradford: 1345 Dalton: 1616 Mallet: 471 Locker: 569 Tanehill; 730 Wilson: 2650 Griffin: 2530 Luck: 1749 Manuel: 1270 Now obviously this can be very hit and miss, but apparently these guys thought pretty highly of Geno, so atleast there is that. Ofcourse, since he's on the Jets, I'm sure they are re-working this formula as we speak.
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets...MW5CdbrwZCDjJ?utm_medium=rss&utm_content=Jets costello realizing he cant keep biting the hand that feeds him
i think this kid will end up beating out sanchez. im pretty high on geno right now he seems to be the kick in the ass this offense needed though.
Thanks for posting that. The more that comes out the more ridiculous the anonymous sources sound. I am sure a bunch of fans will continue to assume the anon shit is fact though.
Thanks for the NY Post article. Really love this line, "I never had one problem with him other than he watched too much film.”
Geno Smith can learn something from Eli Manning in terms of handling the media. Similar articles were about Eli not caring enough about the game. Both book worms in the film room
1. That the media is attacking this kid is a telltale sign that Idzik is just giving NOTHING to these media fools. Kudos! 2. That said, it shows the true face of NY media in general - they need someone to bite on, and that target MUST fail. Then they will have something to chew on. So, keep things in perspective, and they become clear in a second. While I didn't like Geno Smith pick myself, it wasn't because of his talent level or his character. I personally preferred next year's QB batch as I believed they were better than this year's crop, and on top of that, Jets could have gotten an instant starter instead of a QB that will sit behind Nacho this year. (His playing time will be minimal.)
So far Geno fits right in here with the Jets. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. Going for a qb in the later rounds had to be done though. I was looking for Nassib later in the draft, but Geno could be great for us..... then again I've been wrong before. Sanchez
you can't win with a geno smith in this league. another hyped up new generational player just like cam newton. all hype, there's a reason lots of ppl calling newton SCAM newton now. It's actually really interesting what the qb competition is like now. it's a battle of generation. Sanchez is an old school, nose to the grindstone, lunch pail traditional qb vs the flashy new breed. I for one will be standing with the vintage known commodity.
Really? Cam won Rookie of the Year. http://www.nfl.com/player/camnewton/2495455/careerstats I would love for Geno to play just as well in his rookie season.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...hers-going-nowhere-with-ron-rivera-cam-newton I'm not a fan of Cam's approach to the game.
You can't be serious...right?! Really ...i mean really come on now....vintage known commodity!
