En of an era. Tiki taka is dead. This reminds me the day Cruyf's Barca lost against Milan back in 1993 or 1994. That was end of Cruyf's dominant Barca and probably these 2 games are indicating end of the current Barca domination.
German league took shit on La Liga these past 2 weeks. Its been revealing, no one cares about La Liga as they are only a 3-4 team league. Now Barcelona will clean house and will probably throw gazillions at Neymar and other people. However, they need to get rid of unnecessary players. Fabregas has been useless there
Wigan making things interesting and putting the pressure on Newcastle, Sunderland and now Norwich. Of that group I'd like to see Sunderland go down. What is awesome about the EPL is that there are 5 points seperating 11th place Stoke and 18th place Wigan. There are a whole bunch of teams that could theoretically go down but I think it's between these 4. Wigan has 3 remaining matches but I think they'll beat Swansea at home on Tuesday and really make things interesting. Newcastle who is 16th right now has 2 matches but one with QPR which they should win to stay afloat. Sunderland with 3 matches remaining but maybe the toughest road with Stoke, Soton (who are also fighting to avoid relegation) and Spurs Norwich with 2 but have really struggled lately. Newcastle, Wigan and Norwich all have a match against a top of the table club so things will be interesting these next few weeks. Wigan also has the FA Cup Final with Man City next week. Hard to root against Wigan, they are like the Oakland A's in a way. Small market, small fanbase, they seem to sell their best players every year yet somehow they still manage to compete with the big boys. BTW what a fall from grace for Pompey... wasn't it just two years ago they were in the Premiership and now they've been relegated down to League 2
Funny as F the other day when we got wallopyed by the Reds, all the Makems taking the piss only for them to lose 6 - 1 to villa the piss taking didn't last long
Guys My beloved team Galatasaray won the National Championship today. We won the Turkish Super League 2 weeks before the season ended. We will play in the Champions League again next year. I am a superstitious guy. The championship game was at 1 PM EST. I asked my wife and kids to wear Jets jerseys instead of Galatasaray jerseys. I didn't want to have a heartbreak. Last time I wore a Galatasaray jersey in a championship game, we lost. That was 17 years ago. Since then I am not wearing Galatasaray jersey for championship games. This year, I wanted to try a different thing. It worked. From now on, I will wear my Jets jersey before each Galatasaray championship game. Welcome my new tradition. I love 2 things in this life besides my family and friends. Galatasaray and Jets Today is one of the happiest days in my life. I want to see Jets winning a Superbowl before I die as much as I want Galatasaray win Champions League. Not sure which one will happen first. I just don't want to die before I see either Jets win Superbowl or Galatasaray wins Champions League. Today is a happy day for me. I am just grateful. Thank God for making me see another Galatasaray championship. Please allow me to see Jets winning Superbowl. God Bless Galatasaray!!!!!!!!!!
Greatness, the man was greatness. He leaves Man U in great shape too with a league win and the positivity of alot of their debts being paid off
Not the most likeable man in the sport, but without a doubt the greatest club manager in the modern era. *British joke alert* First Thatcher dies, then Ferguson retires. Somewhere there's a scouser with a lamp and one wish left.
Cameron does like to ride a bike in very busy traffic....... Hey Junc, what d'ya think of this on the front page of nfl.com? link I'd say thaty soccer is way more popular in the US than you think
in case this hasn't been discussed: http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/3/3/2842696/soccer-popularity-american-youth-mls Soccer is the second most popular sport with Americans 12-24 (which long term is the demographic you want), and the most popular among Hispanics. In Los Angeles I probably see a teenager wearing an official jersey at least once a week. And a more in-depth discussion on the poll: http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/relegationzone/id/262?cc=5901
how does this prove any popularity? It's an article in the offseason about a great coach in another sport that lasted 26 years which doesn't happen in American sports anymore. Soccer is still nowhere near the big sports in this Country and won't be in our lifetime.
I love the fact that Junc regularly checks this thread. Come out of the closet and admit that you love the beautiful game! It's OK. Embrace your footy love! We're here waiting to accept you into our community. Be who you are. It ... is ... OK.
I don't regularly check, I happened to check today. I don't think I have responded here since the beginning. I would have no problem saying so if I liked soccer but the WNBA fills that void of boring sports for me to watch when it's not football season:grin:
Just busting your chops. I love soccer, and don't see the point in arguing what it is. Time, ratings, and revenue will tell.
I know, it's all in fun. You guys love soccer so you should enjoy it. who cares if a buffoon like me likes it or not?
