Could McKnight be Geno's poor man's Tavon Austin? How's his route running? I believe that with marty and Geno we will have a very dynamic offense this year! Spread it out and Speed it up!
Just like Leon before him, and miller before that. With westhoff we just kept plugging in top five kick returners somehow. McKnight is quick and agile guy, who can't hold on to the damn ball or stay healthy. It's hard to underutilize a guy that should not be playing on offense.
The thread title implies that Cannizzaro is claiming something, but he's not. McKnight is making the claim. Sparano obviously was not a fit for us, but you don't get to be an OC in the NF freakin' L without first-rate communication skills. Period. Sparano is a grown man who's been doing this forever, and is well-compensated for his knowledge and his ability to communicate. McKnight is a kid who's paid to play football. If Sparano wasn't talking to McKnight enough for McKnight's taste, who's got the problem? I mean come on. Also, Westy turned every KR into Deion. Chad Morton, Justin Miller, Leon Washington, Brad Smith, the list goes on. McKnight also has done the job, but he doesn't pop my eyeballs doing it. He can hit a seam. He can run well. Great. Shut up and keep doing it. edit: Harpua beat me to the KR stuff. Exactly.
He either fumbles or makes a big play and gets injured on that same play. His time as a jet is drawing to a close.
I agree whole heatedly. I would say in a more concise way, "That's Fucked up on Sparano's part". Here's lookin at Joe!!
Speaking of McKnights, where is that wasted draft pick Scotty McKnight now. We drafted him because he was buds with Sanchez.
I like this attitude he has developed. With all the talent this guy has I hope his new found I want to be the man attitude can translate to him being our feature back. Kid has all the talent in the world...
Tannenbaum didn't value picks after round 4. He saw them more as ammo for other acquisitions. He considered them such crap shoots when forced to make a pick within those parameters he didn't utilize his big board. Instead he looked for "Fits"(Much like he did w/ the Tebow acquisition).Fits are part of the equation but not without thorough scouting that justifies the long term prospect capability as well as draft value. Scotty Mcknight is a prime example. It was all about throwing sanchez a bone & creating a story book ending(given their long time friendship). Too bad Mcknight was way too slow off the ball & couldn't get open against legit NFL coverage. Awful pick.
mcknight deserves a shot more than anyone on the roster, hes done his time on special teams and played his ass of doing so. i just dont see him beating out ivory. goodson maybe, but ivory looks pretty damn explosive and dynamic coming out of the backfield. i really like that pick up.
I don't think he needs to beat out either of those guys. He just needs to prove he's worth a few turns with the rock every game. He's versatile enough ( WR / HB / KR / PR / CB?? ) that I think they will keep him around. If anything it's had to have been tough on him to try and pick up so many positions. Why can't we give any of our players a break. He's got potential.
So your theory is that Tony Sparano, who has been coaching offensive football at the highest level for most of his adult life, "didn't even talk" to Joe McKnight (according to McKnight) because he's so blind and stupid that he can't see how valuable Joe McKnight is? Which you CAN see, because you have a TV and you watch him for 10-15 plays a week. Got it. I don't know where to begin. How about with the fact that only a child holds another individual entirely to blame when communication between them is poor. An adult -- even a HIGH SCHOOL student -- knocks on the door and says, "Hey, Coach. I'm confused about my role. Can I talk to you for a sec?" And if you're going to suggest that Tony Sparano, for all of his considerable faults, didn't have an open door policy for EVERYONE on the team, then I don't know what to tell you.
Idiot Tanny never took those later rounds seriously. Remember him doing an interview & just going over & over how the odds of getting production out of round 5-7 is so small that they're basically fodder.
wtf is Rex doing? Sparano might have botched the job but Rex should have been watching over the offense and been ready to step in. His franchise QB is going into a career tailspin & media vultures are everywhere & Tebow distractions. Yet he's still completely hands off while Sparano butchers everything offensively? Even if Rex doesn't wanna get involved in the X's & O's of offense, he can at least be involved in improving communications.
