110% agree man. This Sanchez guy has a bad reputation for nothing! I mean the guy brought the entire team to back to back AFCG's, and did that with a bad defense, run game, and offensive line. He single handedly beat Brady, Manning and Rivers. He didnt beat or play against the respective defenses of those teams (who happen to be of the Ravens 2000 defense caliber), he beat the other QBs. People just dont realize that, that is how the NFL works. We shouldnt consider last year a 2nd chance because there were some injuries around him, ya know. I mean how is he supposed to throw to Rueland, Gates, and Gilyard who started a total of 1 game between the 3 of them. I mean 1 game is huge. His average play last year was clearly due all to the lack of talent around him and that shitty OC we had. Also, stats mean nothing, because we all know that if you have good stats you normally dont help your team win. You clearly just have to look at the wins and loses (of course minus the last 2 years because of everybody else around him sucking). If you look at the wins and loses, it clearly shows that Sanchez can achieve greatness. I mean he's done it on a consistent basis before. Sanchez is a beast. I have a feeling he will come back and become like a top 30 passer in the NFL. I think his headband really signifies his step to the next level. He's hungry and willing to do whatever it takes, hence the headband.
Agreed. Get this guy a couple Pro-Bowl WRs, top 5 OL, and a HOF RB and see what this guy is capable of! Then, give him a top 5 D to compliment that offense and we'll be right back losing AFC title games!
Do you think the Bengals and Colts (post-Manning) are doing a shit job of developing their teams? The Falcons? Seahawks? You're exaggerating an argument that is quite reasonable. Further, the defense blew both championship games, not Sanchez.
at what point has anyone argued he wasn't terrible last year? it's stuff well above your little head. People always hate things they can't understand. I speak the truth, if I thought it was all him I'd say so. I just want to win and if guys can't help my team win I wouldn't back them. Sorry this bothers you so much. Who said it is insurmountable? it is very possible, it's just not very likely. 3rd and 8 is not 3rd and inches. You joke but not all turnovers are created equal, that is basic football that you fail to grasp and Joe wasn't really lucky(other than everything breaking right in '68), he just wasn't that good. I explained it, apparently you'd rather attempt a long FG- miss it then go into half w/ a larger deficit. so 34%(if your #s are correct) is a gimme? so you wanted him to throw a 2 yd pass? I don't assume, I am using LOGIC which escapes you guys most of the time. NE could score at will on us, we got luck, got a few stops. you want to give them the ball near midfield and take your chances? the last time we had played them we stopped them all 1st had and had a lead in the final minutes, NE gets the ball at their 20 w/ just over a minute to play and quickly goes 80 yds for the TD. To atc like you trust our D giving NE the ball near midfield is asinine. Check the last drive of the game, our D had held NE scoreless since the 3rd qtr, we went up 3 pts w/ less than 2 mins left and NE at our 21. what happened? we got lucky they didn't score a TD and end it then but they did tie and send it to OT. 80 yd type drives and you were ok giving them the ball near midfield. It's not just sanchez at QB(a man who has proven he can win big in this league). we had no Holmes or keller, our starting RB averaged 3.4 YPC yet mark led us back from a double digit 4th qtr deficit and gave us lead and you guys want to complain. Simply amazing. this crew attacking us is funny, if you guys weren't some of the worst posters on the board I might take offense. They are out of context stats, 4th qtr includes the beginning of the 4th qtr too, right? so how do we know if these were on GW type drives or not? I am not involved in the Bradford debates, that means nothing to me. I don't care about stats, pro bolws, etc... I care about winning and no QB has won more in postseason in jets history than Mark Sanchez. It's about making plays to WIN not about meaningless fantasy #s. this is where the average fans go wrong. This is what fantasy football has done to the intelligence level of the average fan. so a guy who was benched and his replacement takes the same talent to a SB is comparable to mark taking over for a HOF QB who couldn't even get us to postseason? Interesting. You guys look at black and white stats, when was Leinart EVER in a pressure game? mark had pressure to win form day 1. it's why we don't deserve to win. Too many nitwit fans. you don't go to back to back title games winning 4 road playoff games(while beating the hottest teams in the AFC in the div rd each year) w/ below average QB play. It's more like: 2009: 50 2010: 80 2011: 70 2012: 30
When the D gets a stop it is lucky. When Mark Sanchez misses an open TD on 2nd and 8 from the 36 and pump fakes into a pick it is "like a good punt"
yeah, that was a layup TD especially since you know what his progression was and know he should have looked at Hill all the way and caught that split second where he was wide open.
lol @ bringing up progressions with Sanchez, especially on that play. If he cared about progressions he wouldn't have thrown the ball. He would have gone to his next target which was probably one of the 2 wide open checkdowns But he did what good QBs do on 2nd down within FG range, which is go ahead and punt the ball. Wouldn't want to risk your punter getting hurt. I'm bored swatting away these flies
yeah, you do see a defender in front of him AND behind him right? it would have take the greatest throw in the history of the game to squeeze that deep ball btw 2 defenders.
It would be so much easier to just be like "I overreached in my defense of Sanchez because clearly any pick on 2nd down from the opponents side of the field is not 'like a good punt'" But superfan gonna superfan
I don't know when or where Sanchez picked up this tendancy to pump fake all the time, but I hope for our sake as Jets fans, IF he is the starter this season that Morningweg & Co get him to stop doing that shit. Good QBs don't need to pump fake like that, they can see the field and find their man. Sanchez pump fakes so much he misses the open guy. His pump fake isn't even effective anyway, teams watch him on film and realize that he uses it too much. You can tell by the way he cocks his arm and lunges his body when he's pump faking and when he's not. It's also dangerous because it takes too long, allows the defense to catch up and involves holding the ball out for grabs (maybe why he has fumble problems?).. Brady pump fakes with the best of 'em but the reason his is more effective is because he uses it far less often and he will wind up just like a regular pass, not lazily pump faking in vain like Sanchez so you can't really tell.
I don't know what his reads were but clearly he starts out looking left then comes back to Hill later so hill wasn't his primary target and the only way for Hill to have been wide open would have been if he was the primary. Stevie Wonder could see by the time he comes back to Hill there are 2 defenders there but yo guys act like it wasa 5 yd pass w/o a defender in sight.
He "pump faked" both defenders into the area. Had he just looked over and hit Hill earlier - they would've had an easy touchdown. Instead he took too long to see him, lazily threw up a weak pump fake that wasn't fooling anyone and by the time he turned the defenders were on to it. Not to mention it was a weak lob pass anyway.
