By the way, the Celtics almost comeback, is what the Knicks did for so long. Jeff Green and Pierce wide open 3s late, missed shot. The Shump steal on Pierce. Melo hitting a 3 after missing 18 straight. JR finally taking it to the hoop. Shump though, Doc called him the best player of the game. Shump sat when that lead shriveled
Iman said he noticed Jason Terry flew like a jet over him in game 5. So he had that in the back of his mind just in case he could use it in the game
Funny enough, Woodson and Melo have been criticized so much for not getting out of the first round, their old teams (Hawks and Nuggets) both lost 1st round while they together got out of the 1st round.
Wow. I can't believe we almost witnessed one of the biggest Knicks meltdowns in playoff history. Up 26 in the 4th and they just hand them points over and over. That would have topped Reggie Miller. I was seriously about to break my TV. And look at the NBA cooking against the Knicks as always. Funny, when they play the old Celtics there's 2 or 3 days between every game, yet now that we have Indy, we only get one day between series'. We closed out tonight and play again Sunday, while the Warriors closed out LAST NIGHT and don't play again until Monday. What kind of nonsense is that?
3:30 Sunday vs IND at MSG. Fun stuff. I have no idea what to expect from the Knicks. The defense is there for spurts, but INDs defense > than BOS defense. We can't get complacent vs them like Boston. Ball's gotta move. Watch out for Lance Stephenson vs JR Smith. If our offense can get back to more 3s and less Iso, watch out. We will see, still going to enjoy this all of tomorrow before getting nervous for Sunday
Ah..good start time. Tell you what...does Shumpert continue to get better and better? If so, right now, this guy is playing some of the best defense in the league. The biggest thing I liked about his progress was the follow up dunk on Pablos missed layup late. That is progress...that is the part of his game that was not there yet...the explosion. Very impressive. The young man is a very very good ball player. Very good. Once he gets his drive to the basket down, the sky is the limit for him. He came out of college regarded as a average to below average jump shooter and look where his is now. Pablo..what can you say. Chandler showed signs of returning to form. The Pacers are big and play bigger than most teams. Martin will be huge. Ok...impressive win. Woody got the message to push the ball. Lets bring on the Pacers and up are game even more.
Shump is exciting to watch and each mach there is a flash hopefully he puts it together. Chandler looked loose and had better movement I felt overall. Team needs to stop settling for iso plays that start at the 24 its just nuts watching melo 6 times in a row dribble dribble dribble step back shot ...contested... in and out its frustrating the run we had at the end of the game Melo did not touch the ball much
Wow that 20-0 stretch was terrible. About to have a heartattack. Onto the Pacers, after beating a bunch of assholes in KG and Pierce
Each game Shump plays, he seems to get back to what got us all excited about him last year. His 3 point shooting is much improved and like you said, finishing at the rim. He's getting better at that. I'm still terrified when he tries to run a fast break with defenders/people around him, but man you can't leave him alone and he takes pressure off of JR to make everything if Melo is in a funk. When the Knicks struggle, they relapse to their bad habits really quickly. Sometimes Melo gets them out of it by making tough shots, otherwise he gets mired in it. That's where I think it's important to find a way to get Kidd or Pablo out there end of game and get that 2 PG that we are SOOOOOO good with. But that means removing one of Felton/JR/Shump. Right now that should be JR for Pablo. The starting lineup can close games I think. Which run? The one at the end Melo took a ton of contested jumpers, but got his best look when Felton ran the PnR for him and got him that open 3.
When they called a block on Chandler for standing still and KG pushing him into Pierce, I was ready to throw something at my TV. I had a heart attack when Pierce lined up that open 3 with 2/3 minutes left down 6. Everything we have seen from Pierce says he sucked all game but he makes that shot. He missed and Felton hit Melo. Knicks relaxed too early, but as Tyson said in the post game, when you win it's a great learning experience. A small step but a giant step.
Oh and funny thing, when interviewing Felton/Melo (they go to the podium together) someone asked Melo a question and mentioned he missed 19 3s in a row, and Felton and him just started cracking up. Melo then said, damn 19, wowwww.
I'm just glad we have peopple like Kidd and Prigioni that calms this team down when JR, Felton, Melo are doing their best to shoot themselves in the foot. Also Shump looks like he's a man too. Great series. Thanks Celts, hopefully the guys learned their lesson. On to the next one.
