I figured that this shouldn't go in the main forum as both are ex-Jets. Not sure how linked the charge/cut was. It probably made the decision easier.
If you're a bubble player trying to make an NFL roster, the last thing you should be doing is smoking/dealing dope. Terrible judgment.
I hate how ignorant people hate weed so much and make it out to be the biggest deal in the world what players do on their free time. I know why they do it, but times are changing. Soon this ignorant mentality of this evil weed that makes people run over kids on bikes will vanish and it will be legal everywhere.
Agreed, it shouldn't even be illegal, but these players' association with it shows their commitment level to the NFL. Don't be doing illegal shit if you want to play in the NFL, especially if you don't have the talent to survive a charge like this. These two guys screwed themselves here.
The driver of the car had a loaded gun in his seat pocket. Led police to think they were about to deal the drugs. That didn't help their case much
I agree about the whole marijuana thing, but when you are in possession of marijuana with a loaded gun in the car, things change LOL They just screwed away any hope of making the roster this year
Very disappointing to hear about Cliff Harris. I was really hoping that he could be a steal. But this shows a lack of intelligence and a lack of desire to be in the NFL so apparently in the end it's no real loss.
I saw this on the ever reliable bleacher report, and am quite frankly relieved to see this kind of stuff nipped in the bud so early, refreshing.
No mater how behind the times these issues are, getting caught with it, and a loaded gun, speaks volume about the idiocy of these guys that are fighting to make it in The NFL.
regardless of what you think about weed...when your boss (and the gov't) says 'don't do it', you don't do it. this is not a moral thing. it's a smart/dumb thing.
He got caught going over 125/130 MPH and a drug possession at Oregon and was kicked off the team. You would think he would of learned his lesson but people him never change. He will be a career criminal and its unfortunate because he has a ton of football potential.
When you're on the bubble of getting a solid shot on NFL roster, you gotta be extra careful with your off the field activities. These guys totally blew it. http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/05/cliff_harris_ex-oregon_duck_ar.html Before his troubles escalated in Eugene, many NFL Draft prognosticators predicted Harris would be a first-round pick in 2012
to be blunt, its time to nip this type of thing in the bud. if they were high performers, i might be able to let this roll, but as it is their chances with the NYJ are up in smoke.
