hindsight makes it easy to make that suggestion. in the moment, the Jets had no idea whether a team would swoop him up in the second if they passed on him.
Totally 100% agree. Sincerily hope that Idzik's new regime remains silent on this matter. In private, they might want to sit down with Geno and help him navigate through all the media noise and work on improving his strenghs and remove his weaknesses so he can be the best QB posible. If maturity is an issue, they need to work with him in a very positive way and help him grow.
There are lots of mature people who aren't on an even keel after they've gotten popped by somebody. I think the maturity issues are a non-factor here. Everybody has rough edges that come out now and then.
yep, but the JURYS OUT!!! HE FIRED HIS AGENTS!!! HES ARROGANT BEYOND ALL COMPARE!!! BLACK RYAN LEAF!!!! CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!!
Stephan A. Smith/NFL Insider: Geno may be the black Ryan Leaf Stephen A. Smith on ESPN First Take today: "I have somebody incredibly connected to the NFL, works in the NFL, works with numerous players. You know what he texted me with this morning, and called Geno Smith? He called him the black Ryan Leaf. He says if he doesn’t get his act together, that’s what he’s going to end up being, because his mouth is going to get him in trouble because he doesn’t have the game to match it….I think Geno Smith needs to hear that so he can guard against it and get his mind right so he can perform. So that’s what people in the NFL are saying about you, Geno. Take notice and make sure you don’t give them ammunition to think like that."
Why does he have to be the "black" ryan leaf. Why can't he just be the next ryan leaf? Sounds pretty racist to me
Amazing the kind of attention the Jets garner with a 2nd round pick. You would never know that we drafted two of the most talented defenders available in the first round. Leaf was the 2nd OVERALL pick .... Geno was picked in the 2nd - 39th overall. Yeah thats the same thing.
Hey!, Hey You!, Get out of here with that positive, logical response... Yeeeshhh the riff-raff they let on this board these days.
I think its a fair comparison if you are noting his mental make up. Is Geno mentally strong enough to be a starting QB in the NFL? In NYC? Only time will tell, but these stories that are coming out are a bit concerning.
If its a repeat topic then it should go in the large thread. If it's a new topic then it can have it's own thread. Understand?
People are insane... Geno's contract is going to be 4 years 4.49 million guaranteed, pretty much what last year's 39th pick got. Compare Sanchez to Leaf if you want with all that money and high expectations. There is value and then there is expectation. People need to find the right balance
Steven A Smith never said he didn't like the pick. He just had issues with Smith guaranteeing that the Jets would make the playoffs.
