That's always going to happen. He plays so good almost 98% of time, he's going to get shit on 2% of the time.
Yes, his shots were all over the place but the net. Some decent forecheck but that play that allowed the second goal was disgusting.
I'm not slamming Hank, he's the reason we made the playoffs, but c'mon guys, it's very similar to the crap Carmelo gets with the Knicks.........you gotta do it in the playoffs. Hank is supposed to be the man, he cannot be outplayed by the other teams goalie....he's supposed to be the reason we win games, and our biggest advantage against most teams on paper...he cannnot let in bad goals.....at all. Even if we all agree just the 3rd was a bad goal.....well I got news for ya that was HUGE!
seems like everyone was plagued by that last night, a lot of net missing. No chance of going in if it's not on goal.
Again, I strongly object to the statement that Lundqvist was "Outplayed" by Holtby. Holtby gave up one goal, got beaten by a second that clanged off the crossbar (That's Hagelins error, not Holtby's skill), and literally pulled a third one out of the net. How exactly was Hank "outplayed" by the opposing goaltender when he was beaten as many times?
Playing too many minutes, 29:00, McD had a bad game, had to cover up for him, he was a physical force the whole game and blocked 4 shots
not a rangers fan here but will watch the playoffs for all local teams..... caps goalie appears shaky in the net, IMO he did not outplay anyone- the rangers shouldn't have any problems getting the puck past him in game 2. one crossbar and a rolling puck on the goalies back and its a 3-3 game.
dude, you're reaching, the score was 3-1, bottom line. Crossbars and posts are part of the game. Holtby stops Hags on a breakaway right, he did get a piece of that to send it high.. Hank doesn't stop Johannsen's break away. You can say Holtby got beat 3 times all you want.......only 1 counted.
The problem with that is, you are looking at it as a positive. The truth is the Caps played bad and won by 2. I don't know what will happen when they actually play well. Although, the Rangers also did not play great, so it will likely equal out when they both step up their games.
Caps played lights out the first 15 minutes, I don't see them topping that level at any point during the rest of the series. The Rangers finally starting skating a little and hitting and evened things out. bottom line is too many penalties gave Caps too many chances....... as expected 5 on 5 for periods 2 & 3, Rangers had the advantage in play (ironically Caps score 3 goals during that time). oh, by the way Hack... Dave Maloney "Holtby was the difference in the game" on the WFAN just this second.......I think Dave knows a little bit about what he's talking about. saying exactly what i was just saying......they don't get in the playoffs without Hank, so he's not to blame totally.... the margin is small and was in Holby's favor last night.
Yeah, I said Caps in 7. People said it showed I had no confidence but I just think about the past. Remember their 09 match-up went 7, 11 match-up went 5, but each game was close, last year went 7, so I would not expect any different this year.
I don't think it's being a homer to expect the Rangers to bounce back. An ultra-motivated Hank is going to be scary in game two. When he knows he dropped the ball, he usually finds another gear.
Personally I thought you guys were almost as dangerous last year, that system by Dale Hunter was cunning
I think you guys are being way too hard on Lundqvist today. He kept you in it during the 1st period. I was there. Panic was starting to occur in the crowd, when he made every single stop during the strong Caps surge. Also, not like he allowed 5 goals. He allowed 3, where the Chimera one was questionable. The Caps offense has been on fire lately. He did a good job, I felt.
I didn't say it was a positive. I said that I think the Caps are getting more praise for the quality of their performance than they deserve. There is no positive in my team playing like crap. None.
