No matter what happens from now on, I still thank John for getting me pumped up for Jets football again. Let's be honest, the way 2012 ended put a VERY sour taste in Jets fans mouths. So much so, that I had no interest in even thinking about the Jets afterwards.

Then last week, it all started up again with Revis being traded, followed by a solid draft that also created buzz with the drafting of Geno Smith and then Monday featured the release of Tim Tebow. Now, even if the Jets have a bad season, they will at least be fun to watch and follow. 2012 really was draining and unfortunately lost the fun that football usually brings me.

I want to thank John Idzik for bringing that back this week. Do you guys feel the same?

The character assassinations on Geno Smith has me feeling a bit sour.

But I am confident in the fact that WHEN he starts, he's going to truly make everyone doubting him regret it.

To me Idzik has a long ways to go. I am excited to see how things pan out after this season. I am excited about this season. As much as the Jets break our hearts, I love this fucking team. Idzik is pretty much everything I want in a GM

I dont think signing Geno Smith created any buzz. I dont feel he will be anything but average at best.

It is a lot of the same stuff they said about Cam Newton post draft. jay Cutler has been accused of very similar things. If Geno can play on their level, with the defence Rex is capable of putting together, the Jets will be a dangerous team for a long time. How far the media is reaching to keep the "circus" headlines going shows how good a job Idzik is doing at changing this teams culture.

If we had an average quarterback last season we would have made the playoffs, instead we had the worst quaterback in the league

I seriouly hope someone else plays so good Smith never gets a chance to see the field. The moment he plays his first game, his stock will drop.

Maybe Mark or David actually thrive in the offense. I never saw anything on tape or heard anything said that convinced me Geno is anything more than a system QB with ego problems.

Geno Smith has made this upcoming season more exciting than if we were headed for another year of Sanchez and a competition between Garrard and McElroy.

Exactly, lol. I'm not exactly all in with Geno, but to call him a bust just DAYS after being drafted is logically unsound and makes me wonder if this guy is even a Jets fan. Seems more like an angry douche with a stick up his ass.

The Jets can't be dangerous for years to come, because there is no one, on offense, who is dangerous. We have a SHIT WR core, a SHIT TE, average RB's and we don't know who our QB is, and either way, they have no one to throw to.

Well, what does Geno have to do for the team to have reasonable success? He has to not turn the ball over 40 times. Is that too much to ask of a professional football player? Most QBs manage to do this. And remember, Mornhinweig had a season where Michael Vick was a top 5 passer! Add to the fact that Smith is a far better athlete than Sanchez--so he should not be a sitting duck back there--and I think there are things to be encouraged about--even if he does not come near to being Tom Brady.

There was a very negative vibe around the Jets since 2011 and I think Idzik has been able to get rid of it pretty quickly. That is what I am most happy about so far. Now will it translate to wins? We will have to wait and see.

From one Torontonian to another I agree 100%. The Cam Newton post draft character bash was memorable. I think everyone here would be more than content with him now.

TDK, I share your enthusiasm for the season, and I've got hopes that Smith can deliver (an offense that scores more than 10 points a game with less than 25 turnovers a season).

Idzik's done a fine job so far, but I don't think that the negative vibe's gone away. Just take a look a some of the posts on this board! Even the most die-hard, green blooded Jets fans are still riding the MSSM negativity. It'll be awhile before that goes away.

We have some of the worst fuckin fans I have ever seen.

It is one thing not agreeing with the pick, but to bash and label a potential franchise QB on this team a bust before he's even taken a snap is absurd. You do realize that you are hoping failure on the franchise you fuckin root for every Sunday, all because of a pick you don't agree with?

It blows my mind. You people are literally rooting against your own fuckin team! Idiots man.

EDIT: Not directed to you OP.

WRs of Holmes, Hill and Kerley isn't bad.

RBs of Ivory and Goodson is going to be incredible this year. Mark my words.

TE we will draft a beast in the next two years.

QB is either Geno or someone we draft in the next two years.

I guarantee we'll be back in the playoffs in 2015
