Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by foreboding, Apr 30, 2013.

?

Which QB would you choose (and why)?

  1. Geno Smith

    77.3%
  2. EJ Manuel

    12.4%
  3. Someone else in the draft (who?)

    10.3%

I love EJ Manuel's physical tools, but from the standpoint of a franchise (pure pocket passer) QB, I would rather have Geno look at his stats, he had the most TD's in the country and had a 42-6 TD:INT ratio which is incredible. He has shown that he can air it out, but I haven't exactly watched EJ that much I just think Geno is a much better pure passer

Gil Brandt reported that the Eagles were going to take EJ in the second and even talked about trading up. So if EJ was the Bills guy, and he clearly was, they did the right thing by grabbing him there.

Don't forget they traded down and got Kiko Alonso (LB Oregon) in the second and Chris Gragg (TE Arkansas). Hence I think Nix played it perfect with his trade down. Any further he might not have gotten his QB.

wonderlik scores have shown no correleation with either offield issues or onfield play. and are widely inconsistent as an indicatior, especially at QB

That video of Rodgers gives you the goosebumps. Not just the fact that he was taken so late, but the fact that we could have very well found our diamond in the 2nd round. The possibility that Geno could be the answer we have been looking for, for far too long, really makes me excited.

Geno was a consensus top QB among almost all Sportswriters before the draft. I think Geno is the answer but time will tell eventually.

It wasnt just in response to what you said, sorry. It was more of a response to a culmination of posts and and to the general posters who call out Geno on his immaturity. I didnt mean to single you out, I was more so calling out the multiple posters who are believing this media b.s. about Geno being extremely immature.

Because I was given the option I went with someone else, more in the sense that I wanted to use the 2nd rounder differently and get a QB later.

I haven't been a huge supported of Smith so far and still question the pick. That being said I would rather have Geno at 39 than Manuel at 16. In fact I'd rather have Geno at 39 than Manuel at 39.

Now if the choice was Geno at 16 or Manuel at 39 I would be inclined to go with Manuel But again that's more draft pick related.

EJ simple answer. The kid has everything Geno has but is bigger and has a football mind. He is also able to keep his mouth shut and a hard worker. He also has a cooler head when the shit hits the fan.

We have Geno just need to surround him with players that can catch the ball before you play him.

I thought E.J. was going late 1st/early 2nd. The Bills probably could have traded down once more and got him but if they really wanted him the 16 was the right spot.

Geno is the better player, and obviously the better draft value.

STOP with the Aaron Rodgers comparisons.

    I'd rather have neither. Nassib/Glennon, i'd take.

Tampa Bay will regret taking Glennon. He's really not that good.

As someone who goes to Florida State I must say us Jets fans have nothing to to worry about when it comes to EJ. I like the guy, but he suffers from many of the same things Sanchez does. He's not very accurate and he makes terrible decisions (especially in crucial moments).

Geno was the top rated QB in the draft for a reason despite being smaller than EJ and having small hands. Geno will be the 2nd best QB in the AFC East this year after Brady.

That is odd other people that go to FSU or alum of FSU say different. Everyone has a different opinion but I am not going to breath easier b.c you say so. Especially comparing him to Sanchez.

At least the Jets and Bills now have QB's they can get excited about. I hope we are fighting it out for first and leave the other two in the basement!

I actually have debated with my FSU friends about EJ many times. We all rooted for him to do well of course, but some of my friends absolutely loved him while others (in my camp) thought he underachieved and thus was overrated.

For example, early in the season EJ was on a lot of people's list (at least at FSU) to be a Heisman contender. I never understood that at all.

As an FSU student I hope EJ does fine, but as a Jets fan I hope he doesn't do too well. And I certainly hope Geno ends up being much better, and I'm confidently he will be.

    Cheers.

lol...ok. Well maybe we fight for a wild card??

I heard Sanchez was mad about the Geno pick....in fact he got so mad he threw his remote at the tv and missed it by seven yards and his neighbor intercepted it.

I hope you're right but regardless i thnk they'res a better chance geno plays significant snaps this year than E.J. just for the simple fact that i believe he is more polished and ready to go. Although i think its better for both us if they both sit ATLEAST 8 weeks
