Geno, especially considering the offense we will be running and where he was drafted. My QB predraft rankings were Geno, Nassib, EJ, Barkley, Glennon. (Nassib and EJ were very close though)
Is this serious? Why don't you just go to the Colts message board and ask them whether they'd rather have Luck or RGIII. Do you really NOT know what the answer is going to be on a Jets forum? lol.
Aside from maybe arm strength and athleticism, Geno seems to do everything better. Kind of polarized over that pick. I have the feeling he would have lasted into the third round if the Bills didn't draft him.
Well because our two guys are not those two guys....sadly...lol I am simply curious who the Jets board likes. What is wrong with that? I mean the three teams I watch more than any other teams besides the Bills are all in this division.
at pick 39, i would've pulled the trigger on either Geno or EJ.. I like Geno a little more, but it will b interesting to see how it all unfolds. Neither QB is walking into a golden situation, so pretty level playing field to compare going forward.
Geno's way better in pretty much every category. He thew as many TDs in 2012 to almost match manuel's career total. He is more accurate, had more yards, threw less picks and won more games. The only place Manuel has him is in size and in rushing but neither of them were really running QBs in their systems.
I wouldn't have taken anybody in this QB class above Smith. I think in terms of where they were all drafted Smith was the best value vs slot at QB.
This is a fair point. Manuel seems to be a really bright guy (graduated in 3 years) and he comes off like he could be a mayoral candidate. I'll give him credit for that - he's very mature and really has the "look" of a leader. So it's fair to say he could handle the NYC media cauldron better.
Im sorry, but where the f*ck is all this stuff about Geno being immature coming from? Did all of you start reading Nawrocki's work religiously or something? As Bradway pointed out in the other thread, even if EJ is more mature than Geno, it doesnt mean it translates to intelligence or what happens on the field. Mark Sanchez was seen as mature and charismatic, yet he clearly lacks the football intelligence. Some of the huge knocks on EJ fall along the same line- lack of awareness/feel for the game, inability to read a defense, lack of pocket presence and overall football IQ. Im not saying EJ sucks or is a bad prospect, but this idea that he is more mature than Geno and that it translates to his football intelligence is false. EJ may turn into a better QB, but its most likely not because he's seen as slightly more mature by some.
Considering draft position, Geno any day of the week. I have no idea who will end up being better. Neither looked particularly impressive when watching their game tapes.
E.J. Manuel is a lot like Mark Sanchez at 6'5". You can make what you want out of that. Sanchez would have been a better QB if he had 3 more inches to work with.
is this in a bubble or is this with draft position taken into account? I'd much rather have Geno at #39 then EJ in round 1.
So let me get this straight, you are bashing Geno because he has the competitive drive and ego to want to be the best QB and the best player in the draft? And he's immature because he left the draft when the 49ers where on the clock (and was probably told that no one was trading up for him)? Im sure any competitive person would be a little pissed off/disappointed they werent picked in the 1st round (where he was perceived to be picked). If anyone says they wouldnt be, they are either lying, or not very competitive. And because he said the Jets will make the playoffs after he was picked and exited and pumped, he's immature? I guess Aaron Rodgers must suck because he was extremely disappointed and pissed at where he was drafted. He thought he had a shot at being #1. Remember when he said something along the lines of "Im going to make all of the teams that passed on me regret not picking me". Geno may probably not be Aaron Rodgers, but lets give him a chance before we dub him some immature baby over nothing. As Rodgers says, "Confidence is the most important trait as a QB. You need confidence in yourself as a QB in order to instill confidence in your teammates." I for one am not going to think poorly of Geno for having confidence in himself and his abilities.
I like both QBs. Manuel has a lot of potential but so does Geno. Both QBs are mobile and both have a lot of room to grow. That said, I'd take Geno. He is most likely the better fit for the WC offense and he has a ton of potential.
A lot of "experts" had the Jets taking Manuel in the second round if they could trade down..this will be a story line for as long as both are on their respective teams..personally I think the Bills way overpaid and the Jets got a steal..how they play only time will tell.
