Yea, no way the new england loss was on sanchez. as a team we just gave them the ball and easy scores. the Tennesee game was much much worse. it was one of the low moments in jets history. the titans were completely shut down, all we needed was a score and sanchez throws 5 picks, including crushing ones our last 2 possesions where our D/special teams gave us great field position. the butt fumble is just a microcosm of his time here. head up someones ass.
The good or what turned out to be bad was that Sanchez was drafted to a Veteran win now team. As a rookie instead of learning he was asked to reign it in not make mistakes this was not good for Sanchez's development. In year two because of the success in year one Tanny went all in. Bringing in FA this team was trying win a Superbowl now. They came close but then they had to pay the piper. Year three they signed Holmes but got rid of Braylon and Cotch and LT was not LT anymore. They decimated the o-line an WFH at rt tackle that almost got Sanchez killed. Brought in slow and aged WR one that played out the season one that was cut. Year 4 it got worse defense got old and offense was devoid of playmakers. Both GM and HC new it needed to be blown up but tried to hold on one more year. So they brought in a coach and tried to ground and pound their way to victory but the little talent they had on Offense got hurt. We found out our OC could not even get a play in on time and had no idea how to be an OC. With all that our QB still had this team in position to make a playoff run. Then it happened a blown play Sanchez has to run and the rest is history. If Sanchez does not recover it will be the play that ruined his promising career. Geno is a different position he was drafted late on a team that is rebuilding. There is no expectations for him to play and if he does to win. He will be expected to make mistakes and if they do not win that is ok (A luxury Sanchez did not have). We will see if the Jets have learned from their mistakes.
whooa... pump the brakes on that one. our qb was the one who had this team in position to make a playoff run? not a chance. if anything, an incredibly weak schedule and a lack of in conference competition gave us a chance. sanchez played like dog crap.
Lets go through the schedule Bills- Played Great Steelers- Started off strong but lets put in the bad column Miami- Played good lead a great comeback SF- Bad Houston- Great Second Half Should have won that game Ind- Played Great NE- Played Very good Drop away from a win Miami- Average Seattle- Below average STL- Great NE- BUTT FUMBLE Statically well Arizona- Awful Jax-Average Titans- Awful (Sparano gets a lot of blame on this one) Your hate for Sanchez will cloud your Judgement I understand.
what?! stop it. mark threw 5 horrible picks. the D gave him chance after chance. he had guys open. it was a pathetic display
He did not play "very good" in that first NE game. If I recall correctly he helped lose the game by botching the snap that hit him in the hands and then making the "good" decision to kick it out of the end zone. He also missed the wide open TD on 2nd and 8 from the NE 36 and pump faked into a pick. That is not "very good" QB play. If it is then your standards are way too low.
serieously. there is also no way he played "great" against the rams. he was ok, he didint lose the game. he certainly wasnt great. and against JAX we wisely didint let him throw much.
He was very good the first NE game came back and had the game won expect for a dropped pass. Sanchez has to play a perfect game fro you to admit he played well?
Bills- Played Great (Agreed. Good game) Steelers- Started off strong but lets put in the bad column (Yep, definitely bad) Miami- Played good lead a great comeback (Nah, mostly average at best) SF- Bad (Yep) Houston- Great Second Half Should have won that game (Played good, had some bad luck no doubt) Ind- Played Great (Yep.) NE- Played Very good Drop away from a win (Yep. Lost it in OT, but should not have gotten to OT) Miami- Average (Bad) Seattle- Below average (Bad) STL- Great (Pretty good against a bad team) NE- BUTT FUMBLE Statically well (Terrible) Arizona- Awful (Very bad) Jax-Average (Yep) Titans- Awful (Yep. The worst.)
Anytime you are are dropped pass away form beating the Patriots you played very well. Sanchez played very well. Do you ever post anything positive Beach or are you just here to gang up on Sanchez. This mob mentality this fan base has is amazing. It is one thing to go after Sanchez when he plays poorly but anybody that watched that games knows that Sanchez put that team on his back and was drop away from winning it. The talent level on the Jets 6-10 against the Pats to take them into overtime he played well. This is the mentality I just do not get it. Most of you are Jets fan correct? But the hatred of the Jets players is especially Sanchez is ridiculous. There is plenty of bad play to bash Sanchez you do not have to after games he played well.
cval you have to understand you are in a Sanchez sucks thread. These fans hate him and think he sucks. Thats that. You, I, anyone who watched that Patriots game, know Sanchez played well and should have won the game.
Ridiculous and fallacious statement. If the guy doesn't make as many costly errors earlier in the game then nobody cares that Hill(an actual rookie, not a guy playing like one) drops that ball. A 4th yr QB should be the guy making up for rookie's mistakes. But you wanna scapegoat a guy who is known for dropping passes. Stop complaining and argue better. Put the team on his back? Anybody who watched saw him make rookie mistakes that took points off the board and gave points to the other team. Congratulations for Sanchez making some good plays to help make up for his bad plays. Big pat on the back from me. Is that positive enough for you?
First Miami game was not good. That was average to below average. STL/IND as great QB games or great job not screwing up? He wasn't asked to do much in either game. I can give the IND a great and the STL an above average to average. In STL he made one wide open throw then in he RZ both times when we needed a score, we took the ball out of Sanchez's hands. NE 2nd game, a wash. Everyone played bad, but he also played bad.
Who cares about specific things that Sanchez did? He threw this pass or converted this third down in this situation...doesn't really matter. What matters is his overall quality of QB play, which has NEVER been stable. I'm talking about what he has shown consistently over his whole body of work. You see a guy play for 4 years, and you have a pretty good idea of who he is as a quarterback. What does he do well? What qualities does he possess to lead some to think that he is a quality player? Don't get too caught up in the details. Look at the overall picture. And, for the love of God, do not speak of potential after the guy has had a solid FOUR YEARS of work to look at. Some people...very few people anymore...get caught up in the JETS winning some playoff games when Sanchez was QB. The Jets are trying to TRADE Sanchez now and have another team pay part of his guaranteed money this year, from what I hear. Now, why do you suppose they would do that? Why would they draft Geno Smith? The same people that are doing these things know Sanchez better than anybody.
I agree with this whole heartedly. The Sanchez hate is astounding. Its one thing to think a player is bad, its another to be a few steps from burning him at the stake. Its as if he's banged the wife or girlfriend of every hater around here.
Very well thought out argument and point well taken. Sanchez did some good for this team and had a great run in 2010. There is no doubt he has not taken the next step and maybe shot mentally. To me this is why they may want to move-on. Great Qbs are developed over time and the Jets did a horrible job with Sanchez lets hope they do better with Geno who is far from a can't miss prospect.
What do you expect, really? This type of treatment comes with a QB's job description. It's just the way it is when you don't perform. Sanchez is not a personal friend of people that slam him harshly. This type of criticism naturally occurs when you aren't performing. If he can't take it, then he is in the wrong business in the first place. Perhaps he can comfort himself with his undeserved MILLIONS of dollars in cash from his inexplicable contract extension alone. Why should people sugarcoat what they really think about Sanchez as the quarterback of the team they love and have followed for years and years? Serious question...but I don't really think that he reads these boards, if you are worried about hurting his feelings. I'm sure he's aware of popular sentiments about him, but if he's smart, he doesn't go out of his way to pay attention to that. There is only one way to stop this type of criticism, and that's to perform well consistently. Well, either that or retire, which he already has enough money to do, probably.
First, Mike Tannenbaum decided to set Sanchez up with that contract, and now Mike Tannenbaum is home in his underwear scribbling notes about the Jets draft picks and drooling out of the side of his mouth while the professionals handle the big boy business of repairing the Jets cap and roster. Second, its not about hurting his feelings. As you said, there's zero chance he's looking at this (or if he is then he is admittedly a complete and utter moron). Thus, when you read the pure unfiltered opinions of people concerning Sanchez, it doesn't sound like sound football analysis, it sounds personal. Personal as in they would spit in Sanchez's face should they pass him in the street. There is a point where the hatred goes too far. For a lot of people on this board, the Sanchez hatred has gone too far.
