No. 32 total picks are awarded to all teams. There is a calculation to determine which round they go in, but some teams will receive more than others. EDIT: You are correct. Max of 4 per team. My mistake
I honestly think that we will be able to get clowney. Think, sanchez is going to be the day one starter if he isnt cut just because, everyone knows it. Then it will go to garrard, and then geno. I do not think it is unrealistic to get clowney at 3. Also with all of the comp picks and the 3rd rounder for revis( also potential picks in a sanchez trade, not that crazy, skip and stephen a. were just discussing it on firsttake) we could trade up for another top 10 and grab marquis lee or the most dominant receiver coming in. That paired with the hugeeee amount of money we are going to have in FA next year(could be around 40-60 mil depending on how sanchez is dealt with, david harris contract, and santonio holmes potential to be cut) we could be looking at a great team come 2015. With Mo & Clowney leading the D and Geno & Lee leading the O. With possible big name signings like B. Orakpo (Skins have no cap) and others. 2015 gets me very excited... We should just bomb it next year.
In a 3-4, Clowney's an OLB..............and heck of a one at that. Clowney is probably going 1st though no matter what but hey I'll be doing jumping jacks if we get him wherever.
(Plus some more trimming of the fat like Garrard after Geno gets the starting job and other expensive-ish vets)
I know, but we are clearly gearing up for more 43 looks with the Richardson pick. And that would be a sick D-Line potentially in the future
And for those who think we'll finish with a better record this year, idk i doubt it. We finished 6-10 last year and have lost what 10 starters from last year, 11 if Sanchez is cut. This team is getting really young which is good but dont know if they are better than last year.
We have lost a bunch of starters.. but most none where good. Landry was the only loss that might hurt us, and not even by much because according to some sites he was pretty bad in coverage. Revis played 1 1/2 games last year and we where still 2nd in pass coverage. Of all the others who we lost we either replaced in FA/draft or already had their replacement. Devito: Coples Pouha: Ellis / Richardson Bell: Landry Scott: Davis Thomas: Barnes Greene: Ivory Slauson: Winters Moore: Colon I think that's all. Like I said the biggest loss will be Landry, and if we can get good play out of the corners and decent play from whoever might be starting at FS, we'll be fine. Like others said, next year our cap opens up tremendously, and we'll have some extra picks. Next offseason should be fun.
You can make that exact same argument against you. We went 6-10 with a QB who completely shit the bed, Holmes hurt, Keller out more than half the season, Revis out the entire season, and an incompetent OC. We also had to replace Sanchez with McElroy who was sacked 11 times in one game. All of this happen, yet we STILL managed to win 6 games. We now have Garrard, who if healthy, is a proven talent in the NFL, a more experienced DL, a possible shut down corner opposite of Cromartie, a young talented safety, an offensive line with competition, and healthy receivers.
Coples, Richardson, Wilkerson and Clowney is ridiculous. Dont went them to suck but if they absolutely have to, I hope that Geno can be the QB of the future. With the cap space and drafting Clowney, they could then sign Cruz away from the Giants and then use the rest of the picks on BPA.
Coples, Richardson, Wilkerson, and Clowney would be insane at least until the time would come to pay them all, lol
trading up to a top spot would be very costly - even if we were picking 5 - it would likely cost a 2nd this year and first next year on top of our first this year - a la RG3 - skins/rams.
if we have a top 10 pick, forget Clowney it's not worth all the picks to move up. Marqise Lee, Kyle Van Noy and Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be available.
save for a season ending injury there is no way a team without a QB need gets the #1 pick man if ever there was a season to really suck its the next one. the chiefs turned horrible a year too soon. that said there is just no way I can see us picking in the top 5 - we are bad but just never bad enough as the D will be no worse than last year and the offense almost cant be worse than it was.
I dont know why people think we are a 8-8 team again or hoping for playoffs...This team still looks like shit on paper for the most part.
