    3. Jadeveon Clowney DE/OLB South Carolina
Clowney is so good, he could be considered a steal with the third-overall pick. The Jets have their quarterback of the future with Geno Smith, so they could pass on a first-round quarterback to get this phenom. Clowney, Sheldon Richardson, Quinton Coples and Muhammed Wilkerson could form a legendary defensive line.

A prep superstar, Clowney was the top recruit in the nation for 2011 and didn't disappoint as a freshman. He was the 2011 SEC Freshman of the Year and a Second-Team All-SEC selection.

Clowney has shown off elite speed and athleticism as a pass-rusher since Day 1. He totaled 36 tackles, eight sacks, 12 tackles for a loss and five forced fumbles as a true freshman. Clowney did well against top competition including a good game against Georgia's Cordy Glenn.

Clowney was a dominant force in 2012, and was one of the best players in college football. The sophomore amassed 54 tackles, 23.5 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks. Steve Spurrier said Clowney was NFL-ready coming out of high school.

The 6-foot-6, 256-pounder could turn into the Andrew Luck of defensive draft prospects; a high-pick lock who is extremely coveted by every team in the NFL. The scary part: Clowney could be become even better as he gains strength. Clowney is impossible to single-block and tied for the second in the nation in sacks in 2012.

With Bridgewater and Manziel arguably fighting for who could be the #1 overall pick i'd be I guess id settle for the best defensive prospect to come out maybe ever in Clowney. I saw it in another thread "Drown for Clown'ey"

I'm sure they would be amazing. But do you think you could pass on a potential 'once in a generation' player like Clowney if we're in a position to grab him?

obviously it's way too early to think about next year but I'm far from sold on Manziel as an NFL QB at this point and I don't expect we'll be picking in the top 3. We won't be very good but we won't be brutally bad either.

I have very little doubt in my mind when I say that we won't be picking in the top 5 next year. I hope we do and I hope we could grab Clowney. The guy is going to be a beast.

Also if we where in the situation to grab him, the thought of what teams would be offering is crazy.

No matter what we should be able to get some decent talent next year. As of now, that draft looks pretty good.

I don't know if Manziel has had a redshirt year or not but if he hasn't he still can't come next year..despite that, like junc I'm not convinced yet that he will be productive in the NFL.

I don't think we'll be much worse than last year, if at all... the OLine can only be better, we lost a TE and SS, yes, but we are stronger at CB, DL, RB, and WR (with Holmes returning). It all depends on the QB situation, but we could be better there, as well. So we should be okay next year. I hope.

No chance in hell we get the 3rd overall pick unless we trade up for it.

I think we are going to have a good season this year.

And why would Buffalo take a QB when they just took a flyer on Manuel? According to that mock, Geno is our QB of the future so we won't be picking a QB, but Manuel isn't with Buffalo? No logic in that one

It's a paradox of sorts. If we really suck this badly to get the #3 pick, I would LOVE to pickup Clowney, and see what Rex can do with such a (potentially) dominant line. Like historically dominant.

If we are bad enough to get the #3 pick though, I don't think we'll see Rex next year.

I think we finish 5-11, 6-10 tops. That won't be enough to get into the top 3.

Clowney is going to be the #1 pick if a team without QB need gets it, if its a QB need then Bridgewater.

Way to early though...But I can firmly say this is the one guys that will be guaranteed top 5 pick along with Marqise Lee

The question becomes do we trade up in that draft for a guy like Clowney or Bridgewater?

If all comes true like it is supposed to, we will have a ton of picks in 2014. Is it worth it to trade up? I think it might be

No, we don't trade up. We already have our potential Qb in Geno and we don't need to trade up to improve our DL when we already have an amazing DL. Having lots of picks is more valuable than getting Clowney, IMO, but obviously I would draft him if he fell to us.

Clowney is a generational pass rusher. If there was anyone to trade up for, he would be the guy.

he will be the #1 pick barring some sort of injury this year. he is a once in two generations type of talent. He would have been the #1 pick this year had he been able to enter and he will be #1 next year. last year w/ Luck he wouldn't have been but the QB class may be better but it's not going to be Luck & co like 2012.

While I do agree, you can still trade up and have a great draft with a lot of picks. Miami was the prime example of that this year. They traded up to the #3 spot with a ton of picks remaining. With all the compensatory picks we will have, we might be able to afford trading up and using other picks to trade down and grab more. I can see Idzik doing something like this.

Trade up to the top spot, grab a guy like Clowney and then trade down in the 2nd to grab more

I don't think we'll be bad enough to be in position for JD. if we are in the top 10 though, the guy in my avatar is a viable option.

    LaRon Landry - 4th
    Mike DeVito - 5th
    Yeremiah Bell - 7th
    Shonn Greene - 5th
    Dustin Keller - 4th
    Matt Slauson - 5th

These are the current estimations on where we would get picks. Either way, the above names will most likely give us picks
