nothing more hillarious then you continuing to say that idzik is scared to cut sanchez because his job would be in jeopardy. :rofl2: yeah, the GM you just hired is going to lose his job because he cut a starter who was the worst QB in football the past 2 years, saving you cap room and getting you to 40-50M under the cap get a clue
I hate to take the cap hit but having Sanchez around and working it will impact Geno's development. Let Garrard (both brothers, it will help him) mentor him, and McElroy ease him into the QB routine without Sanchez being in the discussion. The cap hit this year doesn't matter this team isn't competing for anything but the cellar, and it's 4.5 mil on next years. Overall I think it's worth the money to just be rid of Sanchez and the media circus that will be created with Sanchez/Geno QB controversy.
If they really had Geno rated that high then they will do him a favor and eat the cap. Sanchez won't be here come start of the season. BANK ON IT.
Because if you cut mark now, he counts 0 against next years cap. Mark isnt helping us win anything this year. having his cap hit off the books next year is much more important then paying 8M to be the worst starter in the NFL
serious question: Do you honestly think we aren't in for a long season regardless of whether mark is on the roster or not?
Yea I caught that also. Makes me feel like the episode of It's Always Sunny where they have the gay bar and Mac is all racist in it.
I can't believe Sanchez is coming to OTAs. I think at this point he should just be moved to specials. Let him work with the special teams and allow Smith to develop under garrard with Simms as QB3.
Just cut Sanchez asap. We need to avoid the media frenzy that will be at training camp if Sanchez is still on the roster.
haha, I don't think he was being racist. It does help a little that they are both black (not much, but it is there). And this is coming from a black person. Some of my older family members do use 'brother' from time to time.
who said anything about that? no one came close to even implying that smith will produce with high expectation. the point(which was obvious) was that we are "in for a long season" whether mark is on the roster or not. You can point out the legit flaws of McElroy, Garrard, Smith, but the bottom line is, sanchez isnt really a better option then those guys, because he has his own really bad flaws. Cutting him now helps our cap situation next year. saves us almost 5M on next years cap. We are in a rebuild, getting the cap in order should trump avoiding "dead money" on a player who wont help you win games
I'm certainly not a big Sanchez fan at this moment but I think as Jets fans we need to give him every opportunity to succeed under MM. A few comments 1) Sanchez biggest problerm will not be the media circus but some of the Jet fan cirucs that will take pleasure in booing him before he takes a snap (idiots) 2) Sanchez should absolutely come to OTAs. It will the beginning of a long road for him to show is his job to loose 3) Best thing for Geno is to lay back and learn for a while, jumping him into the fire too quickly will kill him faster than it did Sanchez. Folks Geno is not Andrew Luck or RG3, not even close 4) Best thing for all of us is for Sanchez to succeed. Then the options for the Jets to trade him, have Geno assessment complete as a starter, and many other variables might be in place to make the right move. 5) Garrard still needs to prove that he is healthy and NFL ready, so lets not start drinking the collective Cool aid. Please let time tells us who is the starter for 2013
I'm afraid that Sanchez may hinder Geno's growth, though. What, if anything useful, does he have to teach a young QB like Geno...? Absolutely nothing. He's useless. You know it, I know it, the organization SHOULD know it, the media knows it, the nation knows it, the players know it. He needs to be cut. Plain and simple
Sanchez actually has plenty of experience, to help teach Geno. More than Garrard. Sanchez has played 6 playoff games, 2 championship games, watched a team be (8-5) then implode from within, and has dealt with Tebowmania and a completely terrible team. So Sanchez can pretty much explain all kinds of situations in the NFL.
If Sanchez walks on that field at MetLife Stadium at any time this season, the fans will storm the field. There is no way they are putting him out there again. Its all about money, and nobody will go to the games if Sanchez is out there.
These are not bad points but Sanchez is dead to this team and he was at the end of last year..his comment out on that west coast radio show didn't help and the fact that his "team" is now pissed doesn't either. The worst thing the Jets can do is keep him around and continue to feed the always hungry media circus.
This is utter crap. You have invested alot of time & money in Sanchez - you let him COMPETE and try to earn the starting job. If he can't you cut him then. And the "brother" comment is absolutely rediculous.
