one year is not something you dont move forward for.

pennington was old and beaten down at that point. he was going to play 2 more years and only ended up playing one because of his oft injured shoulder. thats not the type of guy you just ride off into the sunset with. doing that sets you back year over year.

nobody ran favre out of town.

Chad got run out of NY only because of the injury history. He got hurt early in 2007 and was briefly replaced by Clemens for most of a game against the Ravens. Later in the year Chad was basically making little other than check down throws with no protection in the pocket and Mangini gave up and put his guy, the guy he had drafted in.

I thought it was the right decision at the time. When the QB has surrendered to circumstances beyond his control you have to pull him if you have another option available. Once the QB surrenders the team goes with him. The Jets were 1-7 when Chad got benched and went 3-5 the rest of the way. They actually went 3-3 with Clemens starting and lost two more that Chad started late in the season.

Then Chad went to a Fins team with no illusions about what they were getting. They knew Chad was a good game manager at that point in his career who could win some games for them if they protected him and they protected him fiercely with a short passing game and the wildcat. Profit.

Yes, a rookie GM is going to start the season, with an injury plagued over the hill veteran, that didnt make it oit of training camp last year, a consensus not ready for prime time rookie (ask Mayock, or Casserly) and a guy that took 11 sacks in his last start, while paying the best QB currently on the roster over 8 million to go surfing and bang models.

Hes also one of the 5 fastest to 30 wins in NFL history.

You guys are fucking pathetic, you cant hang the 2012 organizational pooch screw on the QB.
2011 is valid, but then you have to ignore the previous 3 years, his last yearin college, and first two with the Jets, to make a case.

And..FWIW...at a similar point in time, (last year in college) Sanchez was a better player.

More YPA, higher QB rating, better bowl performance.

I think Sanchez sucks but I'd still go into camp with him as one of the QB's on the roster. I don't trust Garrard to stay healthy and I don't want the starting position to just be given to a rookie.

Garrard, Sanchez, Smith, McElroy & Simms are the guys I would go into camp with. McElroy and Simms would just be camp arms unless one of the others got injured.

The depressing thing is, it shows how irrational the Sanchez haters are.

    Thats basic fucking logic.

Idzik wants to remain a GM in 2014.

And in Seattle, they paid Mart Flynn 6 mil to ride pine when he lost, and anyone that thinks Sanchez is going to lose out in this years training camp to a guy that wasnt asked to read defenses in college (you know, the skill sanchez haters claim he cant do) needs to check themselves into an outpatient facility

If Idzik is preaching competition, then there's no sense in cutting Sanchez yet, not when you have an injury prone QB and a rookie QB that may not be ready yet. Sanchez, Garrard, Smith. Just 3 QBs. McElroy was done the moment Geno Smith came on board.

I'd rather have a competition between Garrard, Smith and McElroy. The winner becomes the starter then have another competition for the backup spot among the 2 guys that lost the starting comp battle.

Exactly my feelings. Garrard, Sanchez, and Smith is a pretty healthy Qb competition.

Why McElroy? He is not an NFL quarterback. At least Sanchez has played.

People need to see the logic here.

If Woody sent Revis packing to Tampa because of salary issues and economics , and yes that was the only reason as to why Revis is gone, not because of injuries, why would he pay Sanchez 8 mill to do as Hobbes so eloquently put it and throw all that money away?

Mark will be fighting for the starting job this training camp for sure. You foolish fans that want Sanchez packing - ain't going to happen, at least this year.

Kinda like how Mark's own college coach said he wasn't ready for the NFL?

Look the point is I don't think Mark can LEAD this team anymore. I don't beleive anybody on the team is truly behind him. You say you can't put the entire blame on Mark and I agree. There were some serious issues with the OC but he certainly deserves a majority of the blame. Purely because he can't take care of the ball. AT ALL. Most turnovers since he has entered the league. This is the biggest no-no for any quarterback especially when you consistently have an above average defense. Five INT's agains the Titans when your playoff hopes are on the line is absolutely unacceptable.

The guy was handed quite possible the best situation a rookie quarterback could have been dealt in his first two years and the point was that he could not elevate his game after some people left. This is what franchise qb's do. While I don't think Geno may be that qb the point is they need a fresh start and it's a relatively low risk maneuver. He was rated the best qb in this weak qb draft and was taken in the second round. There is no fiscal or sentimental attachment to him. So if he doesn't show much in practice or in games and the Jets are in a position to get a top QB next year there is no reason not to.
