On the NFL network tonight , Charley Casserley singled the Jets out as the team he thought had a great draft. He praised every pick and stated that with the Ivory trade the Jets may have added 5-6 starters over the past few days. He also praised the Jets for getting value with their picks - picking players who were slated to be drafted higher. Not all the media is in attack mode.

On another note, Mayock is useless.

Lastly, I think the turning point for the Jets was Hard Knocks. Ryan and Westoff came off as cocky, Tanny's head swelled, and having tha Revis holdout play out weekly on TV was a disaster for the team and the player and led to the band aid contract that ultimately resulted in the trade. The moral of the story is, surprise, Woody has to stop being an attention whore when it comes to the Jets and the priority has to go back to closed doors, silence, and building a winning team. Let's hope this draft and off season was a start and that means Jets fans need to support Geno Smith and pull for him to be a franchise QB, even if it means admitting you were wrong about him three years from now

When and if we start winning games the circus will leave town.
Be that as it may, I think Idzik did a fine job in the draft, Except for Geno

Breaking a smile means he's cocky and insincere....don't you know? I don't blame Geno for not trying to show anything here when you have clowns like Nolan Nawrocki bash him the way they have.

That wasn't mentioned when it looked like the upstate tropical Bills were going to take him. Only when we drafted him did Mayock et al start this BS.

I used to really like Mayock and at some point was a good draftnic, but he's disappeared up his own keester.

that was 1 game, the dude played in the Big East at Rutgers, at UConn, at Pitt

Also did you see his resilience at Yankee Stadium, he never gave up on his team and kept fighting, I dont think any QB could deal with the way his line was playing that day and his receivers being covered well all day

Geno overcame an average line, no defense or run game and midgets receivers(both are good) he can be a great quarterback

yeah but its over stated, Rodgers was ready after a few weeks year 1 but Favre was there thats why the tension started to build up. McCarthy got there the year after Rodgers was drafted and wanted to play him and build from there but they kept Favre under center

Plays to win games? What was his record last year?

    7-6? including a 5 loss streak?

No knock on Smith, but they dont run the airraid in the NFL, hes a project at this point

The airraid, is two reads and out, and at the NFL level, you dont have a speed overmatch like Tavon Austin against football players that will be accountants this year.

The entire offense, basically cosists of two pre snap reads, and run off routes, to allow short throws to play makers in space. The Cougars had a nice series on it, including nicely diagrammed plays. Not a real playbook, but the concepts are fairly obvious.

12/1/2012 - Mountaineer Field, Morgantown WV, 2:30 PM. Game Time Temperature 58 degrees trending down to 51 degrees by the end of the game.

    Geno Smith 23-24, 407 yds, 3 TD's, 1 Int, WVU beats Kansas 59-10

11/23/2012 - Jack Trice Stadium, Ames IA, 3:30 PM. Game Time Temperature 33 degrees trending down to 25 degrees by the end of the game.

Geno Smith 22-31, 236 yds, 2 TD, 0 Int, WVU beats Iowa State 31-24.

11/17/2012 - Mountaineer Field, Morgantown WV, 7:00 PM Game Time Temperature 47 degrees trending down to 42 degrees by the end of the game.

    Geno Smith 20-35, 320 yards, 4 TD's 2 Int's. Oklahoma beats WVU 50-49.

This is just the last 3 games before the bowl game in Yankee Stadium.

I think it's kind of silly to say that Geno Smith can't perform in weather based on one lousy game in a baseball stadium converted for football in the northeast at the end of a career? No?

^lol using 40-50 degree weather doesn't look good when you are trying to find cold weather games... Those are warm days.
Tell him to go to Buffalo and NE in December.

And of course you just breezed by the 33 degree day trending to 25 because it fits your "nobody likes Geno everybody hates Geno he should go eat some worms" hypothesis?

Seriously, you're going to get banned shortly. There's no room for people who post continual short snippets of doom about the Jets over and over again.

If you want to go darksider then look up people like Biggs, and dare I say it, me about 5 years ago and learn how to create a content-filled post in which you at least argue sensibly for your positions as opposed to looking like a one-issue troll with an agenda.

We got played? How do you figure?

The Jets liked Geno. You may not agree (I'm not sure I do either) but I'm happy they made two quality, starting player picks before they picked him. How were they played? Did we panic and trade up? No. Was there a mock draft in the universe that had Geno Smith going in rounds 3 or 4? Hell no. Was there a mock draft that predicted Nassib lasting as long as he did either? No. Complaining about them not waiting longer to draft a QB is pure second-guessing.

Disagree with the decision of which QB to draft if you want, but Idzik was not "played".

We'll see, typically when a new GM is hired after the season they don't bring in their own guys til after the draft. I don't know if we will get a full upheaval of the scouting dept but I would imagine Idzik will start to bring in a few of his guys.

Please, are you gonna compare any QB in the Jets roster to Brett Favre?

Better yet, why did the 49ers play Colin Kaepernick? He had average numbers in college. They didn't run a pro style offense in Neveda. He look pretty good last year didn't he?

RGIII didn't run a pro style offense in college neither. He didn't seem to have any problems reading defense.

Competition, competition, competition! No team in the NFL will set a QB in their roster that will win the starting job!

    Idiotic comment by Maycock.
So EJ Manual in Florida and M Barkley in LA are cold weather QBs? I guess if Minnessota drafted him it would have been a steal. Comments like this after the fact makes you wonder why these folks dont get real jobs.

Remember never touch a USC QB, Also EJ has that big Ben look to him. BUT cold weather won't affect Geno, I went to school in WVU it gets plenty cold there.
