I don't know who was making the picks, but we drafted one great CB, and a bunch of Def/Off linemen and a project QB who will be more of a bust than Sanchez. We would have been better to get some weapons to put around Sanchez for this year and if he improved we're good, if not let the next coach pick he own QB. Milliner should be good for a long time, but won't make us forget MEvi$, the rest will be gone in five year.
How do I nominate you for GM? Since you have the perfect mentality for it of course. Seriously though, what are the winning numbers for the lottery this upcoming week?
Honestly, the only reason I want you to keep posting on this site is because of your avatar. :breakdance: Idzik AND Rex are here to stay. If you accept that, this draft makes perfect sense.
The Jets roster has many holes. You take BPA every round regardless of position. Although we do have good players on the Dline and at CB, we still have holes there now that Revis, Pouha, and Devito left. We are in no position to reach for any position
We drafted a receiver last year and the year before. We drafted two safeties last year. We probably should have drafted a linebacker, but we'll address it. Anyway, my point is you don't just draft for need. Why not develop the receivers and safeties we have? What's the point of drafting them if the next draft you're gonna ask for another and then another, wasting more picks on needs over getting the more talented player.
This draft was a breath of fresh air compared to what we had with Mr.T. Finally we seen a man go strictly BPA throughout the entire draft. It was great.
I can't believe some of the threads and comments on here about this draft. No matter the outcome, there will always be guys like this. Never happy. Blows my mind
I think Coples wrecks havoc this season. All 3 will be good, but I think Coples will be on another level.
I tend to agree. This year is going to be painful, even more so than I anticipated. Hopefully our draft next year actually addresses our needs.
The only pick I really dislike was campbell in the 6th....when we already drated 2 olineman...and signed peterman.....with safety still as a need wnd rambo on t he board. ...he has to have at least the same talent as campbell and at a position of weakness....also wudda liked to c them take a chance with cornelius washingtoj
If they indeed deemed the 6th round pick "developmental" it would have been nice to see it used on cornelius washington...all we can do know is trust the FO and coaching staff
I totally agree with the OP. Again BPA only works when you have a team that's already deep and talented. The Jets are neither. You do not just take the BPA if there are outstanding glaring holes that need to be addressed and you neglect those in favor of BPA. That makes no sense. You don't draft a d lineman if you're already deep at that position when there's equally talented players at pass rushing OLB and TE on the board which are wayyyy bigger needs. The talent of Richardson isn't that much greater than either Jones or Eifert which are both very talented in their own right and fill a much bigger need. As Kiper said yesterday, the 49'ers had a great draft and their first 5 selections all addressed a "need" on that team. He said that by addressing those needs they will almost guaranteed be in the playoffs again next year. And that's the friggin 49'ers, the most talented team in football he's saying that about. They're in a position where they could afford to go BPA in every round because they already have an all-star roster. This is the polar opposite of the Jets. They do not have an all-star roster. They can't just make luxury draft picks. They have to address glaring holes which they did not do in many areas this draft. They had huge needs to fill. 3 lineman was overkill. A FB? Total waste of a pick. No WR in the deepest WR draft in years is unconscionable. No TE when you had a future Pro Bowler in Eifert starting you in the face was horrible. Richardson doesn't even fit the scheme. That's called a luxury pick. Furthermore Star and Floyd were both ranked higher than him so he wasn't even BPA at his own position when the Jets drafted. Some questionable moves by this team. I give the Jets draft a C-. And I didn't even mention the Geno pick lol
Stop being such a girl scout about it ! .. yeah about 97% of this fan base wanted players like Austin,Jones,Jordan... players of skill and fills spots. well guess what ? it didn't happen so deal with it and stop whining about something you cant fix. Every post i have seen from you is whining about how the jets should of done this... or the jets should of done that.. are you even a jet fan or a parasite ?
So much BS in this post its amazing. When you're rebuilding, you go BPA because you need talent. Jets drafted BPA based on whats on their boards, not on Mel freaking Kiper's mock drafts. Jets drafted the guys that they think will do well. The Jets can't addressed needs because they have too many. For instance, they needed those linemen, so they can give Geno some protection even with injuries. They needed conerbacks, because Revis left and Wilson isn't a starting 2 CB. They needed a DT because Devito and Pouha left, and you can't just rely on Ellis. Where do you even get "deepest WR draft in years" when we have no idea how any of these WR's will do. It's posters like this that can make me feel embarassed to be a Jet fan. Why do we have to spin everything in a negative way, when at times the thing spun isn't even close to being negative?
