Good, im glad they are pissed. now they know how the fans felt watching sanches throw perfect passes to linebackers and safties
The years that he had the "top notch" offense you speak of were his rookie and 2nd years - when the Jets went to the AFC championship game. In his 3rd and 4th years, not one skill position offensive player made the pro bowl. In fact, in the years that Sanchez was he worst, his supporting cast was the worst. Also, you can't take every player a person has ever had as teammate over a period of time, even when the periods are disjoint, and say that comprises the team the person played with. The only time Sanchez had a strong team around him were his 1st and 2nd years - and the results were 1 game shy of the Super Bowl. When the jets had basically gutted their offense, going with the minimalist approach, they expected a 3rd year starter to perform miracles, and that is when it all became a mess. I am not arguing for Sanchez so much as I am arguing the stupidity that is the idea that the Jets did everything to support Sanchez, when in fact they did the opposite. Who cares really though - Rex Ryan looks like a puppet next to his new GM and cast, completely stripped of his persona. It will be interesting to see how his luck with the Jets plays out from here. I like the new additions with Ivory and Smith, and am interested in what the plan is moving forward. However, Sanchez was screwed by this franchise - Almost comically done actually.
I don't see how they could be upset. They need to watch some tape of Sanchez's play from '12 and thank their lucky stars for that boatload of money he'll get whether he plays or not.
The bet is on then. You stated in February that with MM and the roster as it was, the Jets could compete for 11 wins, a division title, bye / home playoff game. Why do you care about the roster possibility changing now? In February when you made those statements, we had already lost a ton of starters. Of course our roster was going to change. You seem to be content with the guys we already had on the team. You made the statement blindly on now that you get to see our first 4 draft picks, you are worried about the roster changing? It looks like Sanchez could be holding a clip board this year, so your odds just increased significantly. A bet is a bet and I will man up if I lose. Good Luck! This is a bet that I would love to lose. I would gladly put whatever you want in my sig if it meant that the Jets won 11 games, a division title and got a home playoff game. :breakdance:
Who was mediocre, Holmes or Edwards? If you don't think Tomlinson helped Sanchez(and had plenty left in the tank). you weren't watching. Do you think Sanchez carried the Jets offense in 2009 and 2010 or vice versa? Gimme a fkin break.
In 2011 getting Plax and Mason was an attempt to get Sanchez more tools. When Mason vaguely implied that Sanchez sucked and had to get better, Mason got run out of town. Tanny put a great team around Mark in 09 and 10, and in 11 the team wasn't awful either. This organization did everything to help Sanchez, but Sanchez could never protect the football and that is his fault.
If they're pissed they can go take a bath in the 17 million dollars they'll get for Sanchez doing nothing. Fuck'em
I'm not sure what I am more confused about - you assuming to know what got Mason run out of town or using Mason as an argument against Sanchez. Especially since the guy had an amazing year elsewhere once he was released...?
No - though Sanchez did make it to the AFC championship game in those years as a rookie and 2nd year QB so... case-point.
right, because the defense, special teams, and running game carried us there. does this team win 2 regular season games if the D and running game arent both top 3 units in the NFL? sanchez was the worst qb in football his rookie year, and terrible his second year. to say he had any part in us making the playoffs is idiotic
no, but im not going to give him props for being the worst qb in football either. henne would have done the same or better then sanchez with those teams
Because, look at the title of the thread. The second round pick playing would mean the roster is not...as currently comstructed. Personally, I view Smith as aproject, so..the roster..according to the draft so far, meets the criteria. From my view, the bet hinges, predominantly on Sanchez actually playing, which...unless theyre flushing. 8 mil down the crapper by cutting him, He will be. But...who knows whats on their mind. Personally if it were me, Smith and Garrard would be joined at the hip, simms, and Gmac would be gone, while Sanchez plays. For two reasons.. They already fucked up one drafted QB by giving him a shit OC and drafting no help, and throwing him in. If we dont get Favre, and Sanchez sits behind Penny..hes a better player. It would be unfair to Smith (though we are light years better at OC) to throw him to the wolves, before the offense is unfucked, and actually has players around him to help him out... I know many guys here like Smith, but really is the irrational hate for Sanchez so string, that its worth ruining Smith? And setting the organization back another 4 years? Tanny screwed the Gholston pick, then failed to support the Sanchez pick, so..if you Think Smith is the future...is that really the way to go?
