Reports are Jets offered a 6, Saints countered with a 4. Now a good negotiater says 5 and it's a deal. But hey, I can't complain with Ivory...but still time was on the Jets side with round 4-6 being tomorrow

Do you really think it took two weeks for the Jets to offer a 6 and then the Saints to counter with a 4?

Reports tend to be written by guys with an agenda these days. Reporters.

Most of these guys are one rung higher on the ladder than the paparazzi.

Saints will regret making this deal, appears they decided to trade Ivory and keep Mark Ingram.

I didn't actually comment on the trade, which was my original reason for clicking this thread.

I'm pumped. This guy is dynamic. Whether he can carry a starter's load remains to be seen, but for the first tune in a while, we have an excellent competition at runningback.

This season could end up being pretty exciting, even without what I would consider talent in the passing game.

The Saints used the extra 4th to move up in the third, so I don't think the Jets had a choice in terms of the timing. It was probably a "do it now or don't do it at all" type situation.

I LOVE Ivory as a player, I just think a 4th round pick is too much for a guy that was on the outs in New Orleans behind Thomas, Ingram, and Sproles.

However, he is an absolute battering ram at RB and fans will love him. Has much better vision than Greene and moves better laterally than Thomas Jones did.

I'd still like to see the Jets take a late round RB like Dennis Johnson or Rex Burkhead.

We have three pretty good backs now with Ivory, Goodson and Powell and that is a huge improvement over the past two years. I expect McKnight will probably be cut or kept strictly for special teams.

Another bad move by Idzik, not the player but the deal. a 4th rd pick for a guy being squeezed out in NO who has been in this league 3 years and missed 24 of 48 games. Ivory is a talented guy who hopefully will stay healthy for us and I like the duo w/ him & Goodson(I really liked the Goodson pick up) but it's asinine to give up a 4th rd pick for him. Idzik is being abused by the NFC South.

We may get lucky and all of these moves may work out but Idzik has done a terrible job this last week.

Terrible - he's an embarrassment. Funny thing - the NO fans think the Jets gotta steal. Go figure. Don't they realize Idzik is doing a terrible job.

For once I agree but they must think he could be really good to give up a 4th for him and better than any RB still left on their board.

This site has become unreadable the last few days. SOJF all over the place, bitching just to bitch. This is one of the worst drafts for RBs since I've been alive, and we are bitching about giving up a 4th in the first year of a rebuild for a guy who is better than any RB that was on the board in the THIRD round let alone fourth. On the same day that we get the best QB in the draft at 39 and a starting offensive lineman.

I hope some of you guys don't have kids.

Agreed. One of those cases where the draft ranking & "potential" > what they actually see on the football field. If you didn't know any of their backgrounds & just judged them by grid iron performances, I'd take Ivory over Ingram.

Let them keep Ingram & waiting for that Heisman Trophy potential until his contract expires. Looking at the board, I like Ivory more than any of the RB left as Jets enter Day 3 of draft.

I definitely see McKnight retaining the KR role. Unfortunately the Jets don't have much else in the way of returners. Cromartie is too important now to use on KRs.

im just glad we got him... the guy has great size, uses his size, but also is extremely quick for a guy that big. he averaged over 5 yards a carry last year and extended runs with his power.

i dont mind making the move early, time may be on our side but getting him today allows us to focus more on who we might draft knowing we got an HB

Should have sat tight and gotten him for a 6th. Would much rather take Lattimore with a 4th.

exactly... its not like we traded for McGahee... ivory was a rookie last season. and he is absolutely a playmaker... more so then anyone we had last season

i really dont see the issue. its obvious...you play BOTH 3 man and 4 man lines. and the 3-4 and 4-3 is really irrelevant since we play so much nickel anyway.

it will be a mix of 3 and 4 man fronts and richardson will see time on both id assume. its not like you really want a rookie playing 60 snaps a game anyhow. i wasnt thrilled with the pick but i like the player and it allows us versatility to move them around and not play all of them as 3 down players for 60 minutes
