I can't wait to see junc not give Smith credit when he does something positive. "Smith threw a bad pass that the receiver had to reach out to catch" "Take away those 2 plays where Holmes had the yac he really only threw for 150 yards" "If the safety didn't cheat out that pass would have been a pick" "He made a horrible decision so instead of a TD we settle for a FG" It's gonna be a fun season.
He had four WR's in his time here that had broken 1000 yards at some point in their careers, three of which made the probowl at some point. He had a hall of fame RB, and a pro bowl RB, He had a great OLine for a good portion of his time here. He also had a serviceable tight end. In fact, from 2009-2011 he was surrounded by great weapons. He had more than most QB's get in their whole careers. He's had more than a fair shot. Most QB's would have been cut by now.
We'll see what happens. If we don't think we can compete next year, it doesn't hurt to throw Sanchez into the competition this offseason. Although if you throw Tebow/Sanchez out the door, you have no drama/etc going on. You have the veteran Garrard vs the young gun in Geno
yes - because one mediocre wr at a time, combined with an over the hill rb (who he went to the playoffs with), a flake of a te, and never a constant cast, etc. is what makes an offense successful. good call.
We're not fighting. We're resigned to him leaving. But when he turns it around like another diminuitive QB - Drew Brees, who caught fire in Year 6, or Phil Simms (who lost his starting QB job in Year 5) -- don't start any threads here blaming Woody or Idizk. Blame yourself.
Wow ... I hope Sanchez doesn't win the Super Bowl the same night I'm having a threesome with Nicole Scherzinger and Scarlett Johannson on that UFO being piloted by Elvis and Bigfoot. I'd hate to miss it.
Good post. From an outsiders' perspective, and from what I know this perspective is also shared by a former Jet coach Westhoff, the Jets had an amazing team built around Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was a part of this -team- that made those deep playoff runs, but it was not Sanchez who led or carried anything. He was simply along for the ride and made some good plays, made some bad plays, but never really stood out or carried anyone. If this was any other team, yeah, he would have been gone. The Dolphins got rid of Henne quicker.
"Smith threw for 5 TDS but 1 of them was in garbage time" "smith scrambled for a 49 yard touchdown but it was good blocking that did the work" "smith won his third superbowl MVP but like his last 2 they werent deserved"
Unfortunately, Henne never had the success with the dolphins that Sanchez had with the Jets. I don't recall Henne beating Tom Brady in the playoffs. The two aren't really comparable. In fact, Henne had a better offensive supporting cast and did less.
he was given a great offensive line and the #1 running game in football. he had probowl WRs. he had a super bowl MVP. he had a defense that made up for every mistake he made. and a special teams that gave him great field position. and if any 1 of the running game, defense, or special teams didint hold up their bargain then sanchez inability to play QB would result in a loss. he was horrible. he was given plenty to work with. its not like he was drafted to the browns or something
Won't miss Sanchez if/when he's cut but don't think Geno will be the guy to take us all the way. I think we're drafting a QB in the first round in 2014 or 2015 at best to replace him.
drew brees was great QB with san diego. sanches was never even above average here. sanchez had a QB rating in the 60's for his career here. in his final 2 years in san diego brees thre for 52 touchdowns, 6800 yards, and had a QB rating of 97
