Bills get EJ Manuel aa QB who was suppose to be 2nd-3rd behind Geno Smith.
But he was selected 1st out of QB's.

and Geno Smith once considered the first QB to get taken off the board... a possible top 10 pick, slipped all the way to the NYJ in the 2nd.

they will both be playing each other year in and year out and it will be about revenge and proof he was better then EJ every time they play... i dont know about you... but i like the fire.. i like the intensity something sanchez doesnt have.(No -Nyjunc pun)Lmao...

    Thoughts on this to come?

Thoughts? We're idiots. Plain and simple unfortunately.

I'm not a big believer in motivation being a factor. Not like he's going to lineup and be like "Ah fuck it, these are nice guys, I'll just throw it away, maybe pad their INT stats" if they were nice to him.

But I do actually like the pick in terms of value. Probably in the minority at this point.

I study the draft all year and watch these kids play constantly. When a team picks a player I dislike intensely as a football player depression sets in a bit.

Can't blame me too much for being negative.

I saw enough of Pat White junior to know this guy isn't going to be anything more than another in the long of shitty draft picks by this franchise.

You must've not seen anything?? Pat white junior is Denard Robinson.. Rich rod left wvu 2 years before Geno got recruited at wvu. Complete different coaches and quarterbacks. Can't even compare the two..

They both came form the same gimmick offense and I wasn't commenting on their size. The guy never even took snaps under center. This guy does not have the tools to be a succesful NFL QB and I hope to God I am as wrong as I have ever been but if I'm right it will be a move that will set the franchise back another 4 years.

I'd compare the system to Weeden then not a running quarterback like pat white

I come from the school of thought that unless you can get an Andrew Luck type player you don't draft a QB that has no weapons. It fails time and time and time again. San Francisco and Seattle built a roster full of quality players and then added their QB's. Obviously Idzik learned nothing from those teams.

And what is it you don't like about Geno Smith? I've watched most of his games and he seems, in my eyes, far superior to any other quarterback in this draft. He has a great touch pass, good field vision, and is relatively safe with the football. I don't see why people feel that Smith is such a dreadful pick.

Either way, he's far better than Sanchez.

no it wont - teams are not locked into draft picks now the way they were previously (and we are with Sanchez) if Geno doesn't pan out then he will be kicked to the curb in short order. Did the franchise suffer hugely by the signing and subsequent release of our last 2nd round QB Clemmons or (as actually happened) pretty much no-one even noticed.

both those teams had no idea what they were getting at QB other than the chance of a decent player - you make it sound like it was some master plan to get a solid team built up then just take that 2/3rd round QB slot him in and get an instant top quality starter. you cannot legislate for getting lucky with a QB selection

Maybe in the 7th..he would be the perfect pick to pack Sanchez's bags.

The other interesting part to this is that before the draft a lot of hacks predicted the Jets would take Manuel in the second making the tie even stronger.

Well to be fair he is a second round pick so the GM and company won't be nearly as tied to him as if they had taken him in the first, would have been better in the 3rd or 4th but hey.

Both of them fell into shit with their QBs..maybe we will too and in any event he can't possibly be worse than Sanchez and it won't cost 50 or 60 or 70 million dollars, whatever it has been, to find out.
