upside-nice knowing you sanchez downside-welcome to the jets sanchez look at the new boss, same as the old boss J e t s.... smh.. smh.. smh..
Mike Mayock, "he shows flashes of a franchise QB, but not enough"......Stop citing his complettion percentage UNDERSTAND WHAT THE FUCKING AIR RAID IS AND WHAT HE DID VERSUS GOID DEFENSES. I guarantee that everyone who enjoys this pick never watched Texas Tech play football for the last ten years. If you did, you'd understand why this pick was an EPIC failure, beyond any in recent memory. Theres a reason he fell, it's bc he isn't a franchise QB. We wasted a high 2 on a backup.
Absolutely! - Geno shouldn't start until 2014, unless we really shit the bed and then maybe after week 14 or so.
I just don't see how it's suddenly set in stone that we're cutting Sanchez just because we drafted Geno. That said, I would flip with excitement if Mark was cut.
Terrible, Terrible Pick. This kid will fail. He is mentally frail and way too inconsistent. The best we can hope for is a Clausen situation. We suck so much this year that we have no choice but to pick Bridgewater or Manziel next year.
I think there should be a competition in camp and if Geno Smith beats out David Garrard (and possibly Mark Sanchez) that he should play. I think if he does not clearly beat out the competition he should sit some and get his chance when that naturally presents itself. Chad sat for two seasons before he took over.
I hate the pick. That said, he's here now, its done, so moving on... Don't treat Geno the way Sanchez has been treated. From here on out for the foreseeable future the team needs to invest in OFFENSE. Get linemen, get receivers, get tight ends, get running backs who can run a route and catch an f'in pass. Inserting Smith into our current lineup is setting him up for failure. Don't set him up to fail. The Jets will not be in a position this year to give Smith a reasonable offense to work with. Let him sit and learn for a year. He can digest the playbook, and next year the Jets can make a push to bring this offense into a legitimate state.
First off, LOL Secondly, I agree. I don't think Sanchez will even be on the roster in the fall. We've tried and tried and things just haven't materialized with Sanchez. He just doesn't have the football IQ to be an NFL starter, period.
I fail to see what the problem is in taking Smith with our 2nd round pick, it was good value and it's a minimal risk move that could pay off big. Add a few more players in this draft on the offensive side of the ball and it could pay off big. Best case we've found a QB for the Jets. Worst case we suck bad this season and we can make a move to bring in our franchise QB in 2014 in the likes of Teddy Bridgewater because we'll be picking at the top of the draft. This was a no brainer pick in my view. Now go and fill out the roster with the rest of the draft. Go get someone like Travis Kelce in the 3rd round then in the 4th look for a guard like Brian Winters from Kent State. Then all of a sudden we're starting to build up our offense. Maybe send the 5th rounder to the Saints for Ivory and we're looking good. Maybe another offensive lineman with one of our last few picks. I'm delighted with our draft so far and it does look like our GM is being honest with the BPA ideology which I'm loving. Take a step back people, if someone said we'd be walking away with Milliner, Richardson and Smith with our 1st 3 picks you would've been sectioned. I'm loving our draft so far, BRING ON ROUND 3!!!
