You all do realize that every person you mention as a 'franchise QB' can all bomb out next year. Then what...?

Wait until 2015 for a franchise quarterback...? Bad thinking.

If you see a QB and like him, take him. Manuel was the only QB I was hazy on having seen him play in the ACC. Him and Glennon would be developmental prospects.

Anyone else, I can see as an effective starter.

Schefter was just on and says Jets may not have to move far or at all and Smith may fall into their laps where they are..he still insists that's the guy they want though.

All the media and team beat reporters are lapping this up, LOL. They would love the Jets to pick Geno because it makes good copy and sells newspapers. Last night was a perfect example - how many times was his named mentioned after each team picked - and how many times did we have to see Smith glumly looking down on the floor afterwards?

Feel bad for the guy, but I just don't see the Jets picking him and facing another project on their hands. Look for them to draft a player to step right in contribute.

Geno Smith is not an NFL QB, he is not the answer and will not sell the tickets Johnson wants sold. I don't want a QB in this draft. We have five QBs under contract, yet we need another QB????

Draft a TE or Safety and fuck the tv people. Give the QBs we already have and are ALREADY paying money to a chance. If they don't step up, get a REAL QB next year.

Rex is going to tie down this team with yet another below average QB and extend his shiotty time as HC. If you draft another QB, may as well just cut Sanchez and Tebow tomorrow, whether you pay them or not, because Sanchez will be worthless with yet another QB in the hunt for him.

Johnson will totally waste $8M on a benched QB yet hold on to Rex because he doesn't want to pay him off.

Geno is a f'n bust, that's why every team passed on him in the 1st round!!!!!

Jets need to draft either Robert Woods or Jonathan Franklin. Getting both would be amazing.

Robert Woods (WR, USC) 111 rec 1292 yds 15 TDs in 2011
Jonathan Franklin (RB, UCLA) 282 rushes 1734 yds 6.1 avg 13 TDs... 33 rec 323 yds 9.8 ypc 2 TDs

    'Nuff said!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget the Panthers drafted Jimmy Claussen in the 2nd round then took Cam Newton first overall the next year anyway.

Only the Jets. Now instead of Suckchez with no weapons we will have a rookie with no weapons. Brilliant

I have said it a number of times .. Robert Woods is perfect for us ... and Jonathan Franklin would be as well for that matter (but i prefer Woods)

Geno is a god damn BUST! I wouldn't waste a 3rd rounder on him!!!!! If he's there at 7th, then maybe.

Jets need to address their biggest needs by drafting Robert Woods and Jonathan Franklin.

Robert Woods (WR, USC) 111 rec 1292 yds 15 TDs in 2011
Jonathan Franklin (RB, UCLA) 282 rushes 1734 yds 6.1 avg 13 TDs... 33 rec 323 yds 9.8 ypc 2 TDs

I'm not a Geno fan per say but this line of thinking is dumb. You build an offense with a group of guys. If you can get chemistry between Geno, Kerley and Hill (I'm not counting Holmes) that's big. Toss in Goodson who will be catching passes out of the backfield too. It makes sense to start over ASAP, I just dunno if Geno is the right guy for it.

What weapons are we magically going to acquire between this draft and next draft when everyone wants us to draft our QB of the future?

I don't think Rex should be pinned to being the one to pick a QB this time. I think Idzik is calling the shots if a QB is picked, whether it's Geno or Nassib, it's not Rex's call. He just wants the best D he can put on the field.

If the best weapons (WR/TE) are off the board and the jets go Smith or Nassib if both are available I'll be fine with that.

I'd rather a weapon though, and maybe a trade up for another pick in the third or second.

I think it is smokescreen. If they are really interested in a QB I hope they do it in the 4th or 5th round and take a guy who is a project.

If you can grab Geno in the 2nd and either trade up for a higher level TE/WR or grab one in the third, isn't that a nice haul for your offense after a very nice haul on defense in day 1?

It might be for Cyprien, if so, I can tolerate moving up for him.

In general, I really don't want to trade up though.

I don't know if Geno is going to be a bust or not, but getting the top QB in the draft in the second round is good value in my mind. If they draft him and he ends up being a bust at least it wasn't with our first round pick.

I personally like Geno though, I think he has tons of potential and he could definitely grow into being a good NFL QB.

Geno Smith is a skinnier, less elusive version of Vince Young, without the championship pedigree. If the Jets are stupid enough to take him, and fans are stupid enough to support, they deserve to 5-10 years of setback that would follow.
