It's not a coincidence that as the talent has thinned out around him his play has declined. I was thinking DL, you can never have enough DL.
 You obviously don't understand the game. Stop being an average fan! You say numbers aren't black and white and then go on to use a stat of teams with losing records. A losing team can be anywhere from 1-15 to 7-9. There is a big difference between 1-15 and 7-9, but there is not a big difference between 7-9 and 8-8. Right? There were 2 more NFC teams that had "Losing records" in 1997, but most of those teams were close to .500. In 2009, you had 6 NFC teams with losing records and most were not even close to .500. Teams like 1-15 Rams, 2-14 Lions, 3-13 Bucs. On top of that, you had 3 teams that were 8-8. Sanchez has destroyed your objectivity. This isn't hard.
what you fail to realize is that a 5-11 team one year can be better than a 7-9 team in another year, not all records are created equally. we went from `1 win to 9 wins from 1996 to 1997. That is a ridiculous jump. I noticed you haven't tried to pick apart the comparison of playoff teams, how come?
Wait so are we still arguing that he was good when he had a good team? If by good you mean: bottom 5 QB rating, bottom 5 completion percentage, worst in turnovers, bottom half in passing yards....... then yes he's good.
They can be, but we are dealing with 1-15, 2-12, 3-13, compared to 5, 6 and 7 win teams. If you want to try to make the argument that the 1-15 team with a losing record in 2009 was better than the 5-11 team with a losing record in 1997, please do so. Your argument is going to be filled with a lot of personal opinions which I have no interest in. We went from 1-15 to 9-7 because we were a much better team, not because the AFC was much worse. We went from Rich Kotite, Ron Erhardt and Jim Vechiarella to Bill Parcells Charlie Weis and Bill Belichick. We also had Romeo Crennel, Al Groh, Todd Haley, and Eric Mangini as asst. coaches. I haven't picked apart your playoff team comparisons because you haven't given me anything other than your personal opinion. Just because you write "Much better" or "Much worse" doesn't make it reality.
BP was huge but we still had O'Donnell & Foley as our QBs and Murrell as our RB. In a normal year we don't win 8 more games. More losing teams means more chances for teams to play bad teams, right? There may have been the worst teams in 2009 but overall it was weaker in 1997. By the way, records vs. AFC that year: 1997: Philadelphia Eagles 6- 9-1: 2-1-1 Dallas Cowboys 6 -10: 2-2 Arizona Cardinals 4-12: 1-3 Chicago Bears 4-12: 2-2 Carolina Panthers 7-9: 2-2 Atlanta Falcons 7-9: 2-2 New Orleans Saints 6-10: 2-2 St. Louis Rams 5 -11: 0-4 total: 11-16-1(41%) NFC teams with losing records in 2009: St. Louis Rams 1-15: 0-4 Detroit Lions 2 -14 : 1-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-13: 0-4 Washington Redskins 4-12 : 2-2 Seattle Seahawks 5-11 :1-3 Chicago Bears 7- 9: 2-2 total: 6-18(33%)
Why is it so hard to admit than Sanchez played well in 2010 and was on track as far as his development? The guy lead the team to an 11-5 with multiple comebacks and played very well in the playoffs. I am not sure how you can argue that even if you think he sucks now.
No. We did have O' Donnell and Foley, but it was Frank Reich who took the majority of the snaps at QB in 1996. Put that coaching staff with the same starters in 1996 and maybe we don't win 9, but we would have come close. What do records of NFC teams against AFC teams that are 13 years apart prove? You are trying to argue that the NFC was much worse in 1997 by looking at the records they had against the AFC teams which you say was much weaker. That argument can go both ways. The NFC teams could be better in 1997 than they were in 2009, hence the better record against AFC teams in 1997. The NFC being worse in 2009 would also lead to the same thing which is a worse record against AFC teams. That in no way proves that the AFC was stronger in 2009 than it was in 1997. You keep saying losing teams, but there is not a big difference from 7-9 to 8-8. The NFC had three 8-8 teams in 2009. If we use 8-8 as our bench mark, we have 9 teams of 8-8 or less in 2009 compared to 8 teams of 8-8 or less in 1997. We have 4 AFC teams with 11 or more wins in 1997, compared to just 2 in 2009. What is the deal Hobbes? You badger me about a sig bet, but when it comes time for you to "Man up" as you say, you completely avoid me. I am beginning to believe the Dolphins fan on here who says that you are a coward.
Rich Cimini @RichCimini 11m Based on what we now know, I wouldn't be surprised if #Jets trade all the up to 33 (Jax) and pick Geno Smith there.
Bitch beach is a troll. No, we're cool. Its,draft weekend...no need to be abrasive. Unless we actually do draft Geno Smith before the sixth round. (you may want to revisit the terms, if the Jets scouting staff at some point they play offense (or make a pretense of it) too... But...they have a shot at 11, and can compete for the rest.
are you saying Foley is better than Reich? and O'Donnell & Foley were 0-8 in their 8 starts in 1996, Reich wasn't much better but he did lead us to our only win. 1-7 is still better than 0-8. The NFC was weak and yet the AFC held a slight edge in 1997- that should tell you something. The bottom line is this, Pitt was not a great team, they built their records playing in a weak division and playing good defense. They would get homefield and need 1 win to get to title games. What Sanchez did was much more impressive against better competition than what Kordell did. Both made multiple title games but got there in different ways.
Abrasive? You call people all kinds of names and I mention that you are avoiding me and that a Dolphins fan called you a coward and I am being abrasive? What are the terms? I figured since you are so offended that I think your statements are ridiculous, that the sig bet would be about.... your statements. Crazy thought I know. So how about it? If any one of your statements comes true, I'll put whatever you want me to in my sig. If all 3 are wrong, you put whatever I want in your sig. I'm saying things were different in 1997. You acted like we had the same QB most of the year like we did in 97 and that is not true. We had a carousel of QBS in 1996. In 1997 we had O' Donnell playing in all but 1 game. Pitt was a very good team! From 1994 to 2001 they went to 4 AFC Champ games. They did that with Neil O' Donnell and Kordell Stewart at QB. I already told you that I am not comparing Stewart to Sanchez. I am just pointing out the fact that a QB can be carried to AFC Champ games. Your main defense of Sanchez is his 2 AFC Champ games while ignoring everything else he has done. I don't care to debate about who was carried more than the other. The fact is, both were carried.
I don't want the Jets to trade up to draft Geno. We need all our picks so we can add depth to the roster.
I would rather use the picks for other needs as well. I am not sold on Geno. Let's build a foundation this year, and let Sanchez do what he does to put us in great position to draft one of the better QBs next year.
