You don't get high picks very often. Deciding that the player you like best is a guy who could go as late as the early 20's and then manipulating your draft to lose two slots worth of value to accomplish that is a push at best.

Really the Raiders should have either found a better trade or a better player to take on the 3 pick.

I can freaking love a guy and very much want him on my team and it still does not justify giving up the value of the slot I'm in to do the move.

I don't mind these picks or the rationale for picking them after sleeping on it. Richardson, from his interviews, seems extremely excited to be here and contribute. Confident, as well. Same goes for Milliner. I like how both of these guys immediately think of disrupting Brady.

Couldn't disagree with your last statement more. If it's your guy, you don't let value get in the way of potentially not getting him.

The Bills came out on top of the trade value chart. Got a top 15 pick in the 2nd round and a 7th rounder that we didn't have.

In a normal draft I can agree but you know as well as I do that there was little difference talent wise between someone going 3rd and someone going 12th.

They got the guy they wanted plus a much needed extra high pick. Win for Raiders and the Dolphins. One of those rare trades that worked well for both teams.

    oh god, really?

did you not notice the jolly laugh he and idzik shared right before making that comment?

all he meant was he isnt the reason the jets drafted the guy

but by all means, go ahead and reach for something, anything to be upset with

Rex is definitely on board, that doesn't make this draft make any sense. The only good things to take away from it are: we didn't draft Geno (yet), and they went by their boards and stuck to it.

Too bad the boards are goofy as hell...I don't know how a rotational D lineman can be the best guy on your board at 13 overall

I don't understand why Rex should be pissed. So the only way the draft is a success is if we spite the coach? lol the fuck?

How should Idizk handle it? "STFU Rex, this is my team" in the middle of the presser?

Exactly, he isn't the reason because if he were it would not have been his pick. If it was in isolation, then maybe, but the second comment about "SOME" people in the room being excited when Milliner fell to them just ices it. If you can't see this you are just Ryan/Idizk relationship homer.

For me personally, it is not a judgement on the draft, Rex, Idizik, or the player. It is an observation of the working realtionship. You don't have to get all gay about it and try to defend who you love.

The Raiders, Bills, Cowboys, Rams, and Patriots were all able to trade down. Here is what each team received:

    OAK: traded 1.3 (2200) for 1.12 (1200) & 2.42 (480) = -520 pts

    BUF: traded 1.8 (1400) & 3.71 (235) for 1.16 (1000), 2.46 (440), 3.78 (200), & 7.222 (2.6) = +7.6

    DAL: traded 1.18 (900) for 1.31 (600) and 3.74 (220) = -80

    STL: traded 1.22 (780) and 2015 7.x (~1) for 1.30 (620), 3.92 (132), and 6.198 (12.2) = -16.8

    NEP: traded 1.29 (640) for 2.52 (380), 3.83 (175), 4.102 (92), and 7.229 (1.2) = +8.2

Evaluating these trades the biggest winner appears to be the Dolphins (+520 value) as they clearly won that trade with Oakland. The compensation was not commensurate with the perceived value. The other winners were also the Bills (+7.6 value) and NE (+8.2 value). Basically the 3 other teams in our division all did very well by trading. The Dolphins raped and pillaged the Raiders while the Bills and Patsies were pretty even trades but they received a lot of picks in exchange for moving down.

I would have loved to trade down, but it takes two to tango and if you don't have a partner, there is not much you can do.

I think you completely misunderstood what Rex meant with his comment.

where did you get the rotational crap? The DT is a very talented guy and capable of putting pressure up the guy on QBs like Brady!

Im pretty sure when he said some people in the room were pretty excited that he was including himself. Thats why he immediately looked at Idzik and Idzik looked at him and they were both grinning. You are completly wrong with your assessment dude

Because homer follows another, that makes it right, huh?

I guess being stoned would explain your warped sense of perception. "Naahh man Rex looooves the pick duuude" LOL.
