Why is everyone whining about these draft picks, seriously? We got Milliner who most analyst had as the #4 BPA. We did lose Revis and Kyle Wilson is just much better suited playing slot. Then we got Richardson. I wasn't too crazy about this pick because I really like Lotulelei but then again I'm no expert and when you watch his film he really is a beast. So I will resign my thoughts until he doesn't play as well as Lotulelei. My problem is with people saying we should have gone offense when clearly there was no one worth selecting at #13. We took who they thought was the BPA. This would be a conversation worth having if either of Austin, Cooper, or Warmack was still on the board, but they were gone. How can you guys complain about not getting an offensive player when it would be an obvious reach for 2nd round level talent at this point? I'm sure O-line, RB and TE will all be addressed in the next few days. - Round 2: Zach Ertz (sure we missed out on Eifret but if we could get Ertz in the 2nd it would be big win for Idzik and the team) - Round 3: Marcus Lattimore (I know what the doubters are thinking, but this could be the steal of the draft) - Round 4: Barrett Jones (Jones isn't great at anything, but he's decent at eveything. He can play OG, OT, or C. Versatile guy who could pick up slack if a lineman went down) If they would do this ^ then try to get some type of OLB pass rusher and safety after the 4th round I think we could be in pretty good shape.
Every year for the better part of two generations the Jets drafts are terrible with a few notable one-offs, and every year there are fools who defend it.
Im not complaining about Millner my problem is with Sheldon richardson we basically traded Revis for richardson. This is what i was worried about all along and why i was against trading him to begin with. Sure it would have made sense if we got a franchise type QB with the pick but we got a defensive tackle for the best cornerback in nfl history . Another situation bungled by the Jets , everyone had pitch forks and torches wanting Revis gone i hope your happy now, its like trading in your Lamborgini Diablo for a 89 Toyota Camry and being happy about it
I'd rather take Taylor or Bernard in Round 3. But I agree with Ertz and Jones. I still would've rather taken Eifert at 13. Then in the 2nd we could've taken Eddie Lacey. 3rd and OL and 4th an OLB.
I agree with you. I am ashamed of most of these so called Jets fans who know nothing about football. Do you think the 49ers, Ravens and Patriots drafted based on need? They get best player available. Also we did address a need, we addressed the pass rush with Richardson, the dude is projected to be a beast. Wilkerson Coples and Richardson will develop into an elite front. Milliner was the best corner and best player available in the draft, consider yourself lucky to have him drop to you at the 9. Our defense just went from below average to above average in two picks. Offense obviously needs help but you cannot justify reaching for offensive players who may not even work out with our QB situation. At least these two can make an impact THIS SEASON.
Why would any of those teams need too? When your team is excellent you have the luxury of drafting three defensive linemen. And BPA? Richardson was NOT BPA, he was Rex's pick clearly and simply because Rex just wanted him.
Exactly. And not for nothing, for all the talk about Revis' ACL, Millner has been injured every year of his college career and most likely won't be ready for training camp.
i dont think i am whining. i think i just posted in another thread some good reasons why i dont care for the 2 guys we did draft and good reasons why we should have gotten other guys who were currently on the board who were far better value.
Not even close to addressing the pass rush. He's a good pass rushing interior d lineman. That's entirely different from a true Pass rusher off the edge so we still need to address a pass rushing specialist.
i think the frustration stems from the fact that the 2 players we picked last night are the ONLY 2 positions that we actually have some talent and depth.... other areas are razor thin like OL, TE, and LB - all for which draft options were available.
The last few days have been miserable, borderline unbearable, as a Jets fan...and no knock on Richardson, but how much of an impact can a 3 technique DT possibly have in this defense...compared to Revis...uhh, you just don't get the sense that this organization has a clue. And the player that was #1 on their board, they got leapfrogged and out-played for, Idzik learning on the job I guess...this all just blows
I'd love to go Ertz in the second and Bernard in the 3rd. Have the Jets shown any interest whatsoever in Bernard? I really wish we got that extra 3rd this year from Tampa.
Hence combining need along with value along with BPA. It's not about one versus the other. It's about drafting the guy that gives you the closest to all 3.
You have to think it through though. If you don't think Warmack is going to be there at #13, and that the best player available will be a defensive player, then don't take a defensive guy at 9.
Are you really implying that a REBUILDING TEAM should have given up MULTIPLE PICKS to move up for a WR? And you say Idzik is learning the job? Wow...
So wait, Ever since Revis got traded people said Rex has lost his influence and Idzik will have complete control of the Draft, So which one is it?
