Alot of over reaction threads with guys who haven't even played a down in the pro's.

With this draft there are so many guys on equal footing in terms of talent that its tough to hate the two picks of Dee & Shelden because they are very high on some boards.

Just roll with it and lets evaluate at the start of the season...

I knew the board was going to be like this as soon as I saw the picks..

I like Milliner, but the injury history scares me. He was most definitely the best player on the board. I'm okay with the pick. Shocked, but okay

Richardson confused the hell out of me. I understand the potential, but I just.... Jarvis Jones was on the board. Star Lotuleilei was on the board.. I wasn't expecting this.. I don't know how to take it really. It's underwhelming, but I'm hoping that Idzik is right on this.

I'm probably one of the more even keeled Jets fans I know, so I knew this place was going to be a shitshow.

    Does it matter ?

We have a moronic owner who is calling the shots. He trades for Brett Favre...then ditches his coach...makes money-guys GM's and GM's personnel guys.....he is clueless.

Thank god he doesn't have a son who will inherit the team when he passes on. As it is, we aren't winning a SB for another 20 years.

Yeah that thread was pretty funny. I wasn't happy with the Sheldon pick but what do I know. These are all the same people crying that we should have taken Ingram over Coples.

Sheldon and Milliner will be good players. Thats not the problem. The problem is our offense is bottom 5 and we just keep ignoring it.

I liked the #9 pick, I questioned the 13 pick until I did research, from what I can tell this make the jets DL very versatile, Coples can line up inside against guard or outside against tackle, and the same goes for the new kid, he can line up anywhere in the line.

Now I understand the pick, hopefully in the second round they go offense.

I just hope they extend Rex for at least 10 more years. That would make draft day a lot more predictable. No reason to draft high on offense since offense really doesn't matter. Especially in a QB driven league.

Im like you, I researched the #13 pick and he is apparently considered the best inside pass rusher in the draft. Maybe they have hopes of him dominating like Jenkins did for us.

All I know this team will not be good enough to do much next season, build the rest of the draft with offense.

    #39 and #72 are tomorrow

Agreed. Loved the Milliner pick. Was confused by #13 with Star, Shariff, and Jarvis still on the board, but the more I read about Sheldon, the more I like him.

Mayock (prob the most knowledgeable guy in the industry) had Sheldon at #7 on his board. The pick is growing on me and will make our line extremely versatile.

We got 2 great players. They said they would pick BPA. I was surprised but actually am happy with the players. I'm sorry but I do not see any great offensive players to take that high in this draft. Richardson Is a really good player that was supposed to go around that slot. People are over reacting. I understand the cb and Dl argument but I didn't want any offensive player other than Austin that high.

I can live with Milliner. I cannot accept DeWayne Robertson 2.0.

Guy hasn't played a single down in the NFL yet but you can already see how his career will go.

Why aren't we watching you on TV at the draft?

Sorry its a little long but its a must read for jets fans.....

The New York Jets have selected Missouri DT Sheldon Richardson with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft.
Pros: Absolutely marvelous gap penetrator with the quick-twitch speed and hand movement to upset any blocker. Has a very quick first step off the snap and propels himself through the action. Sifts through blockers well (including double-teams) when angling and trying to beat slide protection. Keeps his head up and his body balanced after initial blocking contact, allowing him to make plays after fist impact. Gets skinny off the snap when facing a single blocker -- will turn his body to get through and has an impressive rip move to reinforce it. Can maul if he gets his hands up before the blocker, though this isn't his predominant attribute. Keeps his feet moving and will wear double teams down. Keeps his eye on the play and will disengage from blockers quickly to make plays downfield. Terrific space defender for his size -- will careen from sideline to sideline more quickly than a big man should. Has the pure agility to back into defense on screen passes, and the ability to drop in zone blitzes.
Cons: Richardson is not a consistent physical "winner" in that he will get stoned by more powerful blockers, especially in the run game. Will also tend to get boxed out if he's moving to the side and into the pocket. Comes off the snap too high at times, leading him to lose leverage and angle battles he should win. Limited experience at the FBS level could hurt him on some draft boards, but his play against better teams will more than make up for it on others.
What he brings to the team: Scary gap versatility. Richardson's first step is what makes him truly special, but make no mistake -- this is a player with a fantastic overall skill set with the ability to be an impact player from the start in the NFL. In addition, his positional versatility will make him indispensable to Rex Ryan. His best position might be as a three-tech tackle with his upper-body strength and agility, but he'll also be able to move with the NFL trend of linemen becoming more position-versatile.
Was it the right pick? Without question. Richardson might be the best defensive tackle in this class when all is said and done.

    Go Jets

It seems there were no offensive players worthy of the picks at #9 and #13. These two kids can be great NFL defenders. The Jets need offense but this draft does not offer great offensive guys. Use the rest of the draft to upgrade the O-line and find some sleepers.

Wait till the rest of our draft to make more of a decision on this.

The more I watch tape of Richardson, the more I like him as a player.

That said, I still don't like picking DL again, and I'm always skeptical of how College success translates to NFL success. Jury is definitely out on the pick for me. I'm okay with the Milliner pick.

It sucks, but there was no offense there. If there was no trade down partner, I'd rather them get someone they think is REALLY good than reach for someone just because they want to fill a need. We are rebuilding, you take talent and our evaluators believe we got talent.

Also lot of talented players still around top of the 2nd. Gotta see what that brings in for us.

The op says no pleasing Jets fans. Well I instantly didnt like both picks.. I come here and almost everyone agrees that the picks sucked. Then i research many unbiased sites and they too say the picks were awful! WTF do u want us to all just blindly agree with the picks even if we know better?Believe it or not history shows that the fans are right ALOT more than the Jets brass has been . U can bury you head in the sand all u want but dont expect everyone else to do it

If that happens, I'll take a bag full of puppies, kittens, and babies and throw it off a cliff.
