It'd be interesting to see if Slay falls because of his meniscus tear. If we pick up another 3rd, I'd LOVE to select him at 72. So something like this, for example: 9. Jon Cooper 16. Tyler Eifert (Trade back with St. Louis to 16 so they can acquire Austin) 39. Alex Okafor 72. Darius Slay 78. Bacarri Rambo
Please Just say NO to another first round TE. Haven't we been burned enough? I know it's a different GM and every Jet GM is entitled to their own first round TE bust.
I hate when people say this. Should we not draft 1st round qb's either? What do those past TE selections have to do with this year?
Agreed. was to lazy to post it when he said that though,so i'll settle for agreeing.... KNOW ! i thought of this first though LTJF
Eiffert does a lot of things well but nothing exceptional. We need an offensive playmaker but I'm not convinced he is worth a pick that high. I think Eiffert could come in and contribute right away but I think later TEs like Ertz, Kelce, and Escobar could as well but at a much lower cost.
I'd take Xavier Rhodes. Big fast guy and opponents tended to avoid his side of the field because nobody had a matchup advantage on him. He'd be a really interesting guy to put opposite Cromartie. He'd get picked on a bit as a rookie but teams might have issues with two big CB's with speed on the outside.
DJ Hayden- Round 1 or Round 2 Jonathan Banks- Round 2 or Round 3 Tyrann Mathieu- Round 3 or Round 4 anyone of those I'd be fine with
NE got Gronkowski in the 2nd and Hernandez in the 4th..let's do that and save our 1s for impact players.
If you could bother to read my entire post, you would see I said as much. Since you have an agenda to ride my shirt tail, you cherry pick parts of what I said. By the way a personal request; could you please stick to using one screen name for a change.
Ya think they might have been worth a little bit more than that? The problem isn't that a TE shouldn't be taken in the 1st round. The problem is that Eifert isn't Gronkowski. He still might be worth a first round pick to us for his skillset, although I tend to think we'll have a better option available at 13 so he might make more sense if available in the mid/late 1st after trading back if we go that route.
This guy is going to walk in and be compared to Revis from day 1. Our offense and passrush is still shit. I guess they dont fucking understand you dont build a team through the secondary. Oh yeah, and he has had like 5 surgeries.
If we traded down I would take Rhodes as you could always convert him to a safety. I love the idea of a safety with cover skills and the versatility it would lend our base defense especially when going up against the Patriots and those TEs twice a year.
