Wayne had a great season last year w/a ROOKIE QB. w/ garbage in 2011 he still almost had 1,000 yds rec and nearly 80 recs.

    Garcon in 2010 w/ Manning: 67 recs, 784 yds, 6 TDs
Garcon in 2011 w/ garbage in Indy: 70 recs, 947 yds, 6 TDs

he missed 2 games in '10, prorate the #s over 16:
    76 recs- edge 2010
    896 yds- edge 2011
    7 TDs- edge 2010

but the difference was minimal, you would think w/ the great Peyton they would be much better, right?

Peyton has had elite weapons every single yar of his career, Brady hasn't always had that but he has in recent years w/ Moss then the 2 TEs.

Let me explain why Mark Sanchez can still be a good quarterback, okay guys?

2009: Rookie, up and down, great team around him, got to AFC Championship.

2010: Played better, got to AFC Championship.

2011: Had a lot of turnovers, but still threw for 2nd most touchdowns in a single Jets season. Team was (8-5) then collapsed to finish (8-8).

2012: Complete disaster with Tony Sparano, Tim Tebow, no weapons whatsoever and any weapons he did have, were injured. He played terrible.

2013: Goodbye Sparano and Tebow. New OC Marty Mornhinweg is a solid OC, West Coast offense should help Sanchez. A healthy Holmes, more experience for Kerley and Hill, should help. Goodson and whatever other RB's we get will likely be better than Greene was. Most importantly, hopefully Sanchez has gained experience and can use that to play better.

If you are willing to stand by your 3 statements in my sig, I will gladly take that bet. If any one of your 3 statements comes true, I will put whatever you want in my sig for 1 year. If all 3 of your statements are proven to be wrong, you put whatever I want in your sig for 1 year.

    How about it?

Cowher also stuck with Kordell Stewart for about 2 or 3 years too long. Not exactly the best guy to judge how long to hold onto a quarterback.

But Stewart led the Steelers to 2 AFC Champ game losses. That makes Stewart a great QB doesn't it? :)

Seriously, I don't really have a problem with anything Cowher said in regards to this last season.

He knows what enabled Sanchez to get to 2 AFC Champ games:

    I agree!

He says he does not know where Sanchez is as a player and that it is not fair to judge him on last season:

Sanchez isn't 13TDs and 26 turnovers bad, so I pretty much agree with that statement. The only thing I disagree with is that we have 3 other years to look at to get a good idea of what kind of QB Sanchez is. I'm not basing my thoughts of Sanchez on last year alone.

If we can surround him with as Cowher says "a very good supporting cast, a very good defense, a good running game" then I believe that Sanchez can get back to being an average QB instead of a horrible QB. That doesn't excite me.

If a QB needs to be surrounded with all of those things to be decent, that is not the type of QB I want on my team. Like it or not, Sanchez is most likely to be the starting QB in 2013. I hope I am wrong and Sanchez can become something he has never been. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah Cowher's statements is what 95% of the posters are saying. The disagreement is how well Sanchez played in 09/10 and if Sanchez can respond to that level next year.

Because remember, our team isn't going to hit 09/10 talent in one offseason so Sanchez is going to have to rebound without a top 6 OL, ST, and D most likely. That's where the disagreement comes from.

95% of posters have been saying what Cowher just said, yeah you can't blame him for anything because the team stunk, but he also stunk and made stupid mistakes

Put a good surrounding cast around Kevin Kolb and watch what happens!!!!

Put a good surrounding cast around Tavaris Jackson and watch what happens!!!

Put a good surrounding cast around Jason Campbell and watch what happens!!!!

Put a good surrounding cast around Jake Locker and watch what happens!!!

No fucking shit if you surround a shit QB with good players they'll be decent. That's not a ringing endorsement at all.

    Here's what he said-

“There has been so much transition going on there,” Cowher said today. “Now he has another new coordinator. Another new offensive system. The only thing I will says is (the Jets) went to two AFC Championship Games with Mark Sanchez in his first couple of years.

“Granted, he was surrounded by a very good supporting cast, a very good defense, a good running game. But I don’t think it’s fair to throw this all on him when you had a banged-up offensive line, you had no skill position players.”

“I don’t know where (Sanchez) is (as a player) but I think to say what he is based on last year’s performance is unfair,” said Cowher, a CBS analyst. “(Dustin) Keller wasn’t there early in the year. Santonio Holmes wasn’t there. They were playing with maybe a third and fourth receiver as their best receiver.

“If they can get Santonio Holmes back and get a few good skill position players around him, let’s see what he can do. Again, he proved that when he has had a supporting cast, he took them to two AFC Championship games. I’m not saying he’s that type of quarterback, but those are the facts.”

Yeah...he really went out on a limb there.

Remember when Rex said Sanchez was an "elite quarterback"?

Now that was a bold statement.

Rex has way more balls than Cowher.

Sanchez better be praying they take Tavon Austin tommorrow. The kid can get open especially in the slot snd will give him a safety net in the dumpoff game that he struggles with.

If they don't take Austin he will be terrible again next year and quite possibly not make it out of the preseason as the starter.

I have to laugh at the anointing of Morningweg on this board. The guy is an alright coordinator but he can't turn shit into prime rib.. If he's as good as he's talked up on here he'd realize he needs a new QB anyway.

You are right Manning was holding Garcon back HAHAHA!! Wayne and Garcon owe their careers to Manning. As do guys like Dallas Clark, Brandon Stokely, Marvin Harrison, Jim Caldwell, Jacob Tamme, etc..

You never seem to amaze me with your junk posts, junc.. just ridiculous.

Anyway back to who this thread is really about, Sanchez. Garcon would look a lot like Jeremy Kerley with a Mark Sanchez led offense. You'd lump him in with your other excuse WRs. ..

I think he knows Sanchez is going to be on the team anyways, so there just is no harm in, what is a rebuilding year, giving Sanchez one more shot. If the choice is between Sanchez and Garrard, I'd rather Sanchez get the opportunity to turn it around. if he sucks again, then his fate is sealed and we can watch Garrard suck the rest of the season instead. but Sanchez starting at least has a possible upside. Garrard starting just means we are waiting to find another QB next offseason.
