    More like he is setting himself up for a job after Sanchez crashes and burns.

    Yep, Bill Cowher can't get any jobs on his own. he wants to see Sanchez start, the Jets go 2-14 and to get the Jet job. Brilliant.

    With the the glimpses he has showed, the current roster and the money invested in Sanchez, it is wise to give him that last shot this year. Which everyone believes he will get. I really hope they don't waste a first or second round draft pick on a QB with other holes to address. Give Sanchez a guard and Austin or a tight end and with MM, Mark will have a solid core around him and no more excuses.

    i still think we should cut sanchez and start garrard. sanchez is a sunk cost at this point and should be given no more chances.

    there was no wayne hunter in 2012 - the biggest excuse people made for him in 2011 - and yet he was even worse than the year before. how do you possibly justify that?

    Nobody thinks it is all his fault but Cowher makes no mention of why he can't throw 5 yard passes accurately and refuses to hold the ball properly so as not to fumble every time a defender gets even close to him. That is all on Sanchez and after 4 years as the starter there is no excuse for either.

    I'm not a big Sanchez supporter. But when evaluating his play, you have to look at last year as a wash. I'm sure you've heard this story before but..

    After Holmes went down, he was playing with Hill (rookie) Kerley playing outside (a slot guy), Clyde Gates, Chaz Schilens and Cumberland who should barely see the field, an average offensive line and average running backs.

    he did make mention. here is his quote:

    anyone w/ eyes could see he had no chance in 2012. That doesn't mean he'll be great this year but he deserves another chance, it would be foolish to not give him another chance.

    We've seen Sanchez with good players. We've seen Sanchez with bad players. He usually plays to the level of those around him.

    It'd be nice to have a QB who brings up the play of those around him, but the kid still has tons of talent. If the Jets can't find a new QB in this draft, it isn't the worst thing in the world to try to salvage him. Then again, if he can't beat out Garrard, I'd say his career is pretty f'ed.

    that's ridiculous. I can guarantee that if we had made a serious move for Peyton Manning, we could have gotten to the playoffs.

    Manning is just that good.

    if we have Peyton last year we still miss the playoffs, we would have been better obviously but the talk would be that Peyton's career is almost over instead of the revival he had w/ all those weapons in Denver.

    Peyton manning types are not easy to come by either and last I checked Mark has 4 playoff wins in his 4 years in the league, in Peyton's last 5 seasons('07-'10, '12) he has 2 playoff wins w/ MUCH more talent to work with.

    That is ridiculous. Peyton Manning won the Super Bowl once in his entire career with guys like Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon at his disposal. You don't seriously believe he'd equal his production with freaking Jeremy Kerley, Chaz Schilens, and Stephen Hill do you?

    Reggie Wayne -> Chaz Schilens
    Pierre Garcon -> Stephen Hill
    Austin Collie -> Jeremy Kerley
    Dallas Clark -> Jeff Cumberland

    If you think our group sniffs the jockstrap of the Colts group (or Denver's WRs for that matter) then you're insane, and completely underrate the fact that this is a team game.

    But this is also the guy who held onto Kordell Stewart too long.

    Garcon and Wayne would have been garbage without Manning. The only player you can make that argument for is Harrison, who without Manning likely would have been a HOF receiver anyways with or without Manning.

    Guys like Manning and Brady are elite QBs, which means that they can single-handily turn a crap team into a contender almost overnight. That's why they get paid the big bucks, and deservedly so.

    I question your evaluation of WR talent and will agree to disagree. Having a capable QB is very important but its also important that they have weapons to work with. You can look at any team that has won a SB and 9 times out of 10 (if not more) they had weapons for the QB to utilize.

    Wayne was one of the best WR's in the NFL last year and Garcon also did well when he wasn't hurt. If we had had Manning and our group of WR's last year, Kerley probably would've had 100 catches and 1,300 yards and Stephen Hill would've had 10 TDs.
