What a fucking idiot the guy who started this thread was......

I still say that the move to get what we thought would be our qb of the future was a good one and the 09/10 results were good....his subsequent shit play / extension are what we all see now.It all seemed so good back then....fucking clowns the lot of em....waves fist!

That trade was an absolutely steal, we essentially gave up a 2nd rd pick to get a QB that helped us to 2 title games and can help us for many years to come.

it is only bullshit if you failed remedial logic. it is the equivalent of blindly proclaiming it is going to rain this year. absent of a drought, of course it is going to rain, so it didn't take any knowledge or insight to make such a proclamation. you aren't right, you just guessed. being right, or being right with any relevance, is making a statement backed by knowledge, and when it comes to draft picks, the history shows that you just don't know. great prospects turn out to be busts, and low picks turn out to be HOF'ers. in the end you are guessing.

and he didn't call any contract problems unique to the situation. if a top 5 pick busts out there will always be contract problems because they sign huge contracts. that is a broad statement that applies to any pick in that situation. it is blindly proclaiming it is going to rain.

    hey thanks.

i have made alot of BAD predictions too though, so im not going to read into it too much.

it is funny when i saw the thread i asked myself hmmm i wonder how many posts it was before i decried that this was not good. post 8....

great trade, value wise we did give them essentially nothing for the 5th pick in the draft. however sanchez hasnt proven to be a top 5 pick and if it werent bad enough we signed him to a big deal we went ahead and RESIGNED him a few years later.... i took a fucking beating for my thoughts at the time if i remember correctly. but like i said i have been wrong far more often than i have been right.

Old threads like these show how good some of you are at evaluating talent. Well done alleycat!

Right. And if that top 5 pick sucks, give 'em an extension.

Anyone can be a GM on the interwebs...

the top 5 pick didn't suck which was why he got the extension.

I'm inclined to give it another year before I say those two douchebags were right.

The trade was great, the pick was bad.

I have to honest and say I was all for this trade back in 2009. Last Thanksgiving night was the absolute lowest I have ever felt as a JETS fan. I still have engraved in my mind Brady on the sideline laughing with the refs after the Butt fumble.

I guess now we should bump all the old posts about the good players we have and talk about how "right" those people were. Anybody can make a prediction. Getting lucky and predicting it right, doesn't make you smart or show you have more incite than anybody else. Nobody is psychic and knows the exact future. Draft picks are ALWAYS gambles. Sometimes they look good and end up sucking. Sometimes they look mediocre and end up being stars. At least we didn't pull a ridiculous move like the Redskins did last year for RGIII. Didn't they trade 3 #1 picks, plus more? If he continues to have knee issues, it could make that the worst draft trade in NFL history and will hurt the team for years to come. Nobody knows what will happen, though. Hindsight is always 20/20.

    omg

you are really, really dumb. sanchez is AWFUL.

go on the ESPN message boards and mention his name - he is an absolute laughingstock around the league (and rightfully so).

The value of the trade was still great, even if the player has not worked out

Three fringe starters and a second to move into the top 5.... Best thing Mangini ever did for us... And he was working for the browns at the time.

oh I didn't realize they were bashing him on the ESPN message boards, this changes everything. What a terrible pick and trade!

You are new here, take some advice. Don't allow others to think for you. Form and share your own opinions- right or wrong. You'll have more fun and you'll be a more infirmed fan.

    +1

Junc is pretty knowledgeable so your reactionary statement isn't appreciated.

While I am in favor of replacing Sanchez at this point - you are a fool to want him to continue to fail. Mark reviving his career under Wig would do wonders for this franchise.

I'd still take Mark over a lot of QBs that came into this league with and after him.
