Not to mention if a guy is gay in the locker room I think the team mates would know. Not because of any stereotype or anything like that, just because they are such a close knit group, basically like a family. They travel together, go for dinner together, go out to bars/clubs together, sleep in the same hotel rooms. I don't think you can be that close to a person and not know. The only thing I'd be worried about is homophobic slurs being hurled at them by fans and opponents but as long as the NFL took a no-nonsense approach to that stuff and threw out fans immediately or suspended players who said something on the field to them I think people would wise up a bit faster.
