I'm only listing players I feel are going to be available, no sense listing Jordan, Star or Ansah. My Top 5 players for the Jets when they are OTC at #9 & 13: No particular order: Tavon Austin Dee Milliner Chance Warmack Jon Cooper Tyler Eifert Won't list the ones I don't want, easy to figure out.
When you plug Warmack in between Brick and Mangold you have a strong offense line that can dominate. Plus it will allow Brick and Mangold to return to their All Pro form
Agreed. For various reasons: 1. We'll put an emphasis on running the ball. Wether we start Sanchez, Garrad or a rookie it's not like they'll set the world on fire. At most they can be game managers who lean on a strong run game. 2. We are investing in RBs. Not huge investments but our two biggest incoming moves so far are Goodson and Ivory. If you invest in good RBs it's further proof you want to estabilsh a run game... and to do that you need at least one good guard. 3. As Damien Woody tweeted a couple of days ago: Damien Woody @damienwoody 21h If I'm the Jets I'd go pass rusher & OL if they don't move out of their draft spots in the first round. Build inside out #jets Damien Woody @damienwoody 21h Guard might not be a sexy pick but key in today's NFL.....creates depth in the pocket for whoever is the QB #Jets It's not only about the run game... a good guard creates depth in the pocket to step up. This would be really helpful for our sucky QBs... most of Sachez's sacks came from some sort of screw up from Slauson last year. All in all, drafting a guard would be a smart idea for many reasons. I'm not saying it's a must... but it certainly has to be taken into consideration.
Keep in mind trading down is a distinct possibility... http://www.metro.us/newyork/sports/2013/04/22/source-jets-looking-to-trade-down-in-nfl-draft/ PS coincidentally this guy likes the "drafting a guard" idea as well and makes the same points I do.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 1m Teams that have made calls about moving back in draft include PHIL, DET, CLEV, BUFF, MIA. Doing what they should. Sounds like Jets can have anybody they want and probably cheaply too.
with 9th and 13th, right? This is how I would like it. Want: 1. OLB (Dion Jordan - PLEASE!!, Jarvis Jones) 2. OL (Chance Warmack, etc) 3. DT (if Star Lotulelei is there) DO NOT WANT: 1. QB (OH NO!!) 2. WR 3. RB ---------------------- As much as I would like to see Jets draft 2x OLBs, I wouldn't mind 2x OGs either. With Cooper AND Warmack, Jets line would be back in its dominant form. That means Jets would be hoping Ellis would grow into a potent NT, and with emergence of Wilk and Coples, 2nd round OLB should face easier assignment as well. Added benefit is that, these OGs would get a valuable playing time and experience, so that when Jets draft a new QB next year (and Sanchez leaves finally) these OL would be ready to protect the new kid in a heartbeat. Not a bad thought, eh? P.S. On a sidenote: If Jets trade down with 13, then use both of that for 2x OGs, while picking up OLB with 9, you all will know you've got a happy camper here.
Want 1) Jones 2) Vaccaro 3) Dion Jordan 4) tavon austin 5) Star I wont do the donts feel like everyone has upside and you never know
The thing that drives me nuts about this draft is that the Jets have two picks in the top 13 and all the talking heads think they should take a guard and an OLB who won't lift and didn't get very many sacks in college anyway. That's like Buffalo Bills territory right there. If the Jets take a guard and a project speed rusher in the top 13 you have to think they're trending towards the AFC East basement and not for a quick dip in either.
GUARD GUARD GUARD! Our left side would be ridiculous. And you don't even have to worry about a "sexy" pick to appeal to the fans since you have 2 first round picks.
