I agree, I think a 5th would be fair but a 6th is a big win for Idzik IMO.

Yeah 5th is gray area for me still, but it's not like I would flame the trade or form a mob around the gates of Florham Park. If Idzik can get the Saints to give up a 6th, that's when we really will see value from it.

Ivory has suited up 6, 6, and 12 games over his 3 year career.

    A fourth is too much.

Tannenbaum got better deals than that. Holmes for a 5th, Jenkins for a 3 and 5, Cromartie for a 3 that ended up being a late selection in round 2 because we were still going to the playoffs back then.

Idzik isn't gonna offer a 4 or 5 right away because then NO will say "We want more". You start off low but not insultingly low(like a 7th) and go from there.

NO wants a 4, NYJ gives up a 6...this means the middle road is a 5.

In addition to Ingram, Sproles, Thomas, and Ivory, the Saints also have Cadet that they are very high on. Last year they carried all 5 on the active roster and maybe they're willing to do so again. But they're moving to a 3-4 D and need new players, which should make them less inclined to carry so many RBs. I say Idzik should stick to his guns on the 6th.

Id try and giving up a 5th that could be a condition 4th if Ivory plays in 13 or more games or rushes for over 1000 yards or something like that.

I'm not as sold on the 5th anymore in light of the trade. Or maybe we could switch to a 2014 5th.

Why not offer a 6th that could improve to a 5th? If no one else makes an offer NO will probably take it as the draft gets closer. Be patient and wait a few more days. I'd say Ivory is better than Felix Jones at this point, so that could turn out to be a great value.

I am guessing Idzik offered a 6th because he believes there is somebody better in this draft that he can secure with a 5th. I wouldn't expect the Jets to do anything now until after the draft is finished.

Ivory for a 5th is still a good deal. Hopefully, the Saints accept.

Best part about this trade is that it allows for a lot more flexibility in the draft- you dont have to spend a 2nd or 3rd to get a starting RB.

In Ivory and Powell, you have a good battle for the power back spot. And in Goodson and McKnight, you can have a fight for the 3rd down/speed back.

It's good competition in the backfield. Just as Idzik promised.

    Hell yeah it is.

Ivory can take the early down runs. He's a SOLID runner who has tremendous ability after the initial hit. Goodson will compliment him greatly with his speed and catching skills out of the backfield.

It's not a pro bowl type backfield, but it would be sweet running a WCO

I'd be very happy about that. A 5th for Ivory is a steal. I would have been cool with a 4th rounder at the highest, but a 5th would be sweet, especialy if we left that 6th on the table all this time, it's still miles better than the 2nd round pick they wanted.

Ivory would be Idzik's Marshawn Lynch

He has a plan and he's sticking to it, gotta love where we're going
