I'd be a fan of drafting back.

Getting an OLB, WR, OG or TE (3 in the first round or so) would be pretty cool.

It's looking like Star, Ansah, Mingo, the 2 guards, and Geno will/might be there at 9. Who do you take?

    1 Chiefs - Joeckel
    2 Jags - Jordan
    3 Raiders - Floyd
    4 Eagles - Fisher
    5 Detroit - Lane Johnson
6 Cleveland - Millner (or Mingo)
7 Arizona - Fluker (or one of the guards)
8 Buffalo - between Nassib and Barkley based on latest rumors
    9
10 Tennessee - might take one of the guards
11 San Diego - they might take the other guard
12 Miam - they are trying to trade up to get a LT.
    13

I would want to go Star at 9 and Mingo at 13. Maybe even Geno at 13.
Idzik might play it safe and go Guard at 9 and Mingo at 13. Then trade into late first to take EJ Manuel or Nassib if he's still there. I think trading down will be tough in the first unless an OT falls to us.

In this scenario you have Star Lotulelei and Tavon Austin both getting down to 9. There'd probably be a trade back in there somewhere to either Carolina at 14 (Lotulelei), St Louis at 16 (Austin) or even Minnesota at 23 (Austin).

I'm just wondering where you guys stand on the idea of going offense with the first 2 picks this draft is deep at ol and dl we could potentially get a quality pass rusher in the second round. The draft isnt loaded with playmakers on the offensive side so how would you feel about taking tavon Austin at 9 and Eifort at 13?

Eifert at 13 would probably be a disastrous pick. Notre Dame players are always over-hyped and while the school does produce good players from time to time it rarely produces people that star at the NFL level.

Obviously the big risk would be Smith but it is probably the only pick that would keep the seats filled on Sunday afternoon. As this is a business much to everybody's dismay that might end up being who he takes.

I agree. I like Kelce more then any tight end. I want a guy that can block really well To go along with pass catching ability. Pats without Gronk are a different team. He does both things so well it makes it harder for a defense to predict pass or run. But to get to the topic, I would like to try trade down. Pick up extra picks/players. Don't want mingo that's my number one thing

I couldn't imagine a duo I'd hate more for the Jets to pick at 9 and 13.

Getting Geno now, wouldn't be as a big as hit as before though. We can still scoop someone we like with the other 1st. It's less of a risk than before, but still a risk.

I still want to avoid QB, but if we go QB it wouldn't be as disastrous as before the Revis trade in my opinion

Mostly on the return he got for Revis. I understand all the risks associated with the injury and that Tampa had to pay him a huge contract but even with that it still seems like an insultingly low compensation package.

What I would like to know, but probably never will, is what Idzik had to sacrifice in the trade negotiations to get the first rounder this year versus next year. Apparently that was a huge sticking point for both sides so obviously when the Bucs agreed to make it this year's first it must have come at the expense of some additional compensation.

If the previous offer was the 2014 1st and 5th and a 2013 3rd (per the rumors of a 1, 3, 5) then, sure, this package is better because the Bucs probably won't be picking lower than 20-22 so I'd rather have the 13th overall and maybe the 90th overall than maybe the 22nd overall and a third and fifth rounder.

I would just like to know because I feel like if he really is in for building this team through the draft long term that he should have stockpiled more high level picks next year instead of one higher level pick this year. I know we're supposed to be getting a bunch of comp picks but how many starters are we going to get out of them?

My feeling is that he's trying to do a much quicker rebuild and as QB is one of our most glaring areas of need and that the only reliable way to obtain a QB is through the draft is that he's going to go ahead and draft that QB in this draft. If they were getting a high end guy with lots of promise or a Russel Wilson type guy that sort of exceeds expectations that'd be great and I hope that they can do that...I just don't want them wasting our first rounder on Smith because I'm not confident he amounts to anything.

I'm just praying that he's not available at our spot, that the Eagles or Bills or someone drafts him instead so it's not an issue...if he's available at the 9 spot I'm going to be extremely worried.

I think you're probably right on the Jets looking for a QB in this draft.

You absolutely cannot go into a season in the NFL with nobody on the roster that you project as your QB moving forward. Think about it.

No team in the last decade has gone into a season with all dead ends at QB and no expectation that any of them are the long term answer.

The Jets are going to take a QB in this draft. The only question is who they like and where they think the value is.

Totally agree with your concern at QB. I dont want Geno Smith or Barkley or any QB on the first.
I'm convinced however, that it was an uphill battle to get a first out of Tampa Bay. People here think we should have gotten this and that, but the fact is that only TB was interested and had us over a barrel. Other contender teams were not going to touch Revis contract with a ten foot pole, nor were we.
Betting on a first next year with TB, well there was a damn good chance it would have been a lot lower than the 13th.
I'm hoping we make the best out of this draft with instant contributors, and non withstanding a lot of negativity about drafting a guard on the first, the difference between winning and loosing is about having a stud QB and a damned good OL, not about having an oustanding CB and very little else.
Lets hope for the best on this draft.

If they draft a QB that's fine, I just don't want it to be with our first rounder or even second rounder if we can avoid it. Obviously if they get a franchis QB I'll be happy regardless of where that pick is (hell, at this point you could draft one in every round as far as I care as long as we get a franchise guy) I just really don't see any in this draft so think it'll set us back, especially if it's with a first rounder.

I was thinking Tavon Austin and Geno Smith? its a wild thought, our offense would be high power with those 2 and Holmes etc.

    Obviously not going to happen,
