I know many you wont agree but i think this is a great deal. Listen we get the 9th and 13th pick to fill major holes, we are a young and built through the draft team. The real big part is if this trade wasnt done we would lost him at the end of the year for NOTHING. The real deal is we can sign 2 VERY good players for 16 mil a year. So at the end we got 13th pick, Most likely a 3rd next year ( i think) and 16 mil free in cap space

    Anyone agree

What kind of logic can you expect by one of the biggest Sanchez defenders?

I'm really hoping Minnesota wants to trade up to grab Austin and offers both first round picks. I'd love to grab Warmack at 9 and trade the 13 for Minnesota's picks. Maybe grab our OLB at 21 (or whatever pick they have) and then a QB or another OL with their second pick. Having 4 picks in the top 45 would be a pretty decent job at filling some of out glaring holes.

I saw someone else post about taking a big body player who can dominate the trenches for years -- Sounds like a plan for me!

Its only natural for people to be looking for the silver lining in this, but the fact of the matter is the Jets just traded away the best defensive player they've ever had. I'm not gonna call it a "travesty" because we've known this was gonna happen for some time now. However, it is extremely upsetting. We've grown to really take him for granted as a player on the field, and we won't know how bad we've really lost on this deal until we see who we draft with that pick, how our secondary performs in the coming year, and how Revis performs in TB.

Put it this way: I don't think we're gonna like what we see.

6 sentences, 8 "I". No thanks to the organization that gave him opportunity or the coach whose system allowed him to shine. No regrets for missing last year. No amends for holding out and making negotiations difficult.

Look for a silver lining? There is no looking, it's right in front of us. The 13th pick in the draft. The silver lining is we saved out on about 16 million a year for Revis.

I'm in agreement; Idzik did a pretty good job considering all the factors working against him. Coming off ACL, multiple holdouts, 1-year on his contract, can't be franchised, demanding QB salary ... these all add up & each of them cost the Jets leverage. Jets were stuck trying to unload a player that everybody knows they can't keep.

Think that too Jets fans just had unrealistic expectations on what Revis trade value was this offseason. You can't charge somebody more than they're willing to pay. Those other teams also hire GMs.

    ==========
Also, I think there's a big misconception here that all first rounders are the same.

Doesnt change the fact that its a reason to convince yourself that it doesnt suck that we dont get to watch Revis on the Jets anymore. It sucks, big time.

He's getting paid $16 million per year in a state with no state income tax. How did the Jets fuck him over?

aside from the trade, they handled this situation completely wrong, he wanted to be here but they didn't value him as an elite player

Was just on twitter and Adam Schefter tweeted "Jets expect four copensatory picks in 2014 to go along with the extra pick from Tampa, giving NYJ an expected five extra picks next year"

Not all positions are equal. A CB is not worth $16m a year. I don't blame the guy good for him for getting paid. 13th pick + cap room > Revis for one year with Mark Sanchez at QB.

How did the Jets handle it wrong? They wanted to sign him but didn't think a CB was worth anywhere near $16 million a year so they traded him to someone who did. Seems to me they handled it perfectly.

The Jets did nothing to mistreat Revis so far as I can tell. You act like they molested him.

im thoroughly disappointed but i also understand.

it seems like tb signed a pretty good deal for them in that they have an out at ANY point. i dont know what the year by year money is but if it is backloaded at all you can bet he will never see that money.

it also shows that revis has a TON of faith in himself coming back at a high level.

its up to idzik and the jets scouting group to get it right now. they have picks to use and if they use them correctly will be moving forward nicely. if they fuck it up then its going to be a real mess.

i really dont want to see geno smith as a jet. i really do want to see mark sanchez as an ex jet though. still looking for him to be a june 1 cut and really looking forward to what the new regime does on draft day... err days, fuck you goodell btw.

We lost a great player but Idzik clearly believed in building a team through the draft. With all the draft picks we'll have next year and 2 picks in the 1st round, I think this team will be amazing in 2 years.
