Ideally, I would like to trade one of the picks down and acquire some more picks in general. But if we need stay put, Jones/Jordan with the 9, Chance/Offensive player with the 13. We are an interesting position now, because before we know our defense is strong and our offense had holes, so getting OLB could look set the offense back. Now we have a chance to bolster both OLB/OL or OLB/WR and I'm excited. 2 high picks, one on each side of the ball if we can't trade down. If the Jets do trade down, I do see them grabbing a QB with the 2nd/3rd/4th they got by trading down
Given our very limited cap space after the Revis deal, I think we almost HAVE to get rid of one of the two 1st rounders for something in 2014. I'd like to give the 13 to somebody for say a 2nd rounder, a 3rd, plus a 2014 1st rounder (I don't have the value chart handy to see if that works). Maybe the other team tanks and we end up with a top 10 pick, or can use it to move up with our own 1st rounder.
I wouldn't trade back considering you can prob get two excellent players and sure things at #9 and #13 ! No project picks this year please ala Ducasse and Hill... give me solid football players like Jones and Warmack/Cooper.
I'm concerned about this as well, we lack depth and now we lack most of the room that was left over. I believe we were at about 15 under and the Revis move is a red 12 to that number. I'll wait till cap expert Jason at overthecap.com or nyjetscap.com gets updated but I don't know how we'll sign 8 draft picks and go into the season with any emergency money at all.
Hypothetically if we can't trade down because there are no buyers, which of these situations sounds better to you guys? 9. Tavon Austin 13. Kenny Vaccaro 39. Best OLB 9. Jarvis Jones 13. Cooper/Warmack 39. Best Safety Kinda bummed that Revis is gone but I'm still excited for the draft.
I lost a bit of faith in Idzik, I thought he was going to be smart and trade down or go DE/OLB now I think he picks Smith and Austin and sets us up for continued failure. I guess we'll see what happens but my expectations have been dramatically lowered.
I like Austin a lot. Just watching his highlight films give me goosebumps. I live in northern VA near WV and watched quite a few of his games and he is fun to watch. Been a while since we had one of those.
I'd like number 2 but Titans at 10 and Chargers at 11 both need OGs so they may not be available at 13. It's harder to find a LB capable of playing 3-4 OLB so theoretically I'd like a higher pick spent on OLB. Jarvis Jones I'm okay with though some have reservations. Safety is deep so hopefully we can get our 2nd or 3rd guy at 39. Btw Jets still haven't met with Jones.
I read on twitter (obviously don't believe this without double checking, it was just someone on my feed) that we would have 8 million left over after this deal I like that second option you quoted Jones/OL/S. I'm worried about both WRs but it's more that I personally think judging a skill position player is much tougher than an interior lineman and such.
Wrong thread for this, but if you want to trade the 9 pick down and you think Tavon Austin is on several people's wish lists, well...
I don't think we are dumb enough to draft a QB with questionable mental strength to join an overpaid QB with questionable mental strength.
New to the board but I'm hoping the Jets can trade down to around 18 and pick up an extra 2nd round pick. My ideal mock, not sure how possible it is would be: 13: Tavon Austin 18: Kenny Vaccaro 39: Zach Ertz 50: Top corner available 72: Sio Moore
Ideal for me is a trade down and taking an OG or an OLB at 13 and possibly getting a 1st and multiple late round picks from ATL (who supposedly want Milliner and badly) or the Vikings 2 first rounders this year and taking whatever we didn't take above and maybe an offensive player. For some reason, I feel like Idzik and the Jets are gonna f this up.
I would like to see: 1)#9-OLB/jones, Moore, Jordan 1)#13-OG/ BPA 2)#41-RB/ Christine Michael 3)#74-WR/Cordell Patterson or best wide receiver available. 4)#105-TE 5)#136-safety
WRs usually take 2-3 years to develop in the NFL. The WRs in the draft and Hill are all lottery tickets. With that being said, getting one of the top rated WRs in this draft in the 15-25 range would be a good combination of BPA and need for this team. Also, Stephen Hill dropped many easy short range balls. According to some made up BS study you failed to provide a link for Patterson had a low completion percentage on 25+ yard catches.
