    NJ,

Minnesota got the 25th pick for Percy which is worth far less than the 13th!

It's a good deal as we will probably trade the 9th to Atlanta and pick up their 1st and a couple more.

If that's your philosophy why not trade every proven, great player in his prime for cheaper, younger draft picks....

Righ....because there were soo many teams just jumping at the bit to give the Jets what You thought was acceptable. The best CB in the game did not make us that much better because they attacked the middle and ripped us apart.
Great job by the GM. Its time to move on from Revis and his demands.

$96m/6 is too much for a CB when u had the #2 pass D without him. We will be fine without Revis, we need help on offense and it is coming.

And we had Revis in 2009 and got lit up by Peyton Manning and we also had him in 2010 and and lost to the Steelers who converted multiple key 3rd downs through the air.

Look at the previous SB winners and tell me which teams had 'elite' secondaries.

Umm...because in some situations, it makes sense to hold onto the proven players. That's not the case here.

Or get a 3rd after he walks out the door, which he would have.

This no money guaranteed is cracking my up. I mean..are you serious?

Tampa is the Miami Marlins of the NFL. No spend..no spend..no spend...SPEND!! The bigger question is what team will Revis be playing on in 2014/2015.

Unless you have an all-time great it really helps to have your QB on his 1st contract also. 2003 and 2004 Tom Brady, 2005 and 2008 Ben Roethlisberger, 2007 Eli Manning, 2010 Aaron Rodgers, 2012 Joe Flacco.

Cap-killing players really hurt you unless they are an all-time great QB, 2006 Peyton Manning, 2009 Drew Brees, maybe 2011 Eli Manning.

For those ripping the trade, would you have rather him play out the season and walk for a compensatory 3rd rounder in 2015?

To those who say 'I'd rather pay him.' I agree with you. Unfortunately our owner never was going to so this was the best hand to play.

This is a new GM and only time will tell..my biggest fear is that Bradway is still involved.

Imagine, Idzik trading the 13th pick for more picks and one of those picks allows us to draft Bridgewater or Clowney next draft. Revis will be an afterthought

Which also helped Revis because he didnt have to cover his man for as long. Its works both ways.

Fact is, is that a pass rusher can impact a play every single play- they can rush the pass and stop the run. If they cause the QB to have 1 less second, they help the ENTIRE secondary by allowing them to covering their man for one less second. Revis is solid against the run, but he sure as hell isnt going to make you run away from him.

Oh and thanks for the advice on what my "best move is probably."

I'll stop rooting for the Jets now that you've pointed out my lack of faith in management's ability to draft well.

To be honest I don't like this trade... a 1st which is great and conditional next year. I was hoping for a 4th or 5th this year. I was also hoping for 3 picks even if one was next year. It's not horrible but it just means that Idzik better hit a fucking homerun with this draft or the franchise will suffer through another 3 or 4 years of being terrible.

It's a third or Revis is dead next March in which case it was even a better deal for the Jets.

That's the hope. A blueprint in place that will lead to winning cures all. Tell me which Mets fan is pissed now that we gave up RA Dickey and let Reyes walk? No one.
