It would almost be better to let him walk for nothing than to take back the embarrassing compensation we got in return for the best defensive player in the game in his prime who also happens to be the best player in Jets history. Percy Harvin got more in return for Minnesota. Let that sink in.

When the Vikings got Jared Allen, they gave up a 1st and two thirds. And that was for a guy who wasn't even under contract. What the hell is Idzik doing?

If that condition is as reported it means there are significant concerns that Revis will not bounce back smoothly from the injury. The only way he is not on the Bucs roster as of the 3rd day of 2014 year is if the knee went again or they cut him due to salary being out of whack with performance.

In either case it means the Jets did a good job getting two picks for him including the 13 this year.

Overall value could have been higher but probably not in 2013 terms and maybe not at all if the knee is really sending up non-green flags at this point.

Wait until the draft to see if we trade down for more picks.

If we get 2-3 picks in a trade down for 13, then that really adds life to the Revis deal IMHO. I'm thinking Idzik was chatting with teams acting like he had the 13 and seeing if teams wanna trade up for a Tavon Austin or someone else to get more picks.

Wait until the draft to make judgment.

    Are you guys kidding?

Harvin netted a 1+7 current year rounders and a mid rounder next year.

We should have had at least 2 conditional picks in the trade for next year. I understand he's "injured' but c'mon. This is potentially a GOAT.

Yes, I understand Minnesota only got the 25th, but the ACTUAL value of this years draft is not in the top 15. Theoretically the 13 is much more value but we haven't even come to a consensus who we'd like at 9 because everyone has flaws that make them low ceiling or low floor.

The only bad thing in this trade is that we couldn't ship Sanchez out with him.

we had the best cover corner of all time, those types come along once every generation or 2. We can win w/o him but we had the best defensive player in the game and a guy who is probably better at his position than any other player is at their position.

According to all of the NFL GM's on this board, you're dead wrong. We should have gotten 3-5 picks. Cause Joe the Plumber knows the market better than NFL execs.

    You and your logic! ;)

the over-reaction here is not unexpected but to flame them for "only" getting a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder next year for Revis is ridiculous - did you see anyone else offering anything even close to that? The niners apparently offered a third round pick - AND THAT IS IT!

this is not a top CB on a rookie wage, this is a guy (coming off a significant injury) that wants to get paid like a top tier QB - you could count on one hand (or even a single finger) the number of teams willing to pay a CB that kind of money.

Revis is a great player but was a luxury item on an uncompetitive team that was going to walk at the end of the year for nothing, so unless you think he was the missing link that was going to get the Jets to the superbowl this year or you wanted to have the team commit that kind of money for a DB - what is the problem?

This was a great deal by Idzik. Absolutely zero leverage and we got a first and a third.

That's the problem with getting one pick. You can either have Revis, or somebody who no matter how good he becomes will never be as good as Revis.

What makes you think he's not trading 'our' first round pick down and wanted the 13 for insurance?

So it will almost definitely be a third, considering they're not cutting Revis after one season.

Hell, we should be praising Idzik for prying a 1st out of the Bucs for a guy coming off an ACL tear. I was expecting something along the lines of a 2nd and a conditional 5th about a month ago.

BIG swing and a miss for Idzik w/ his first big move. It doesn't mean he can't rebound but he failed w/ this trade.

I want to see the wording of the contract obviously on how Revis has no guaranteed money but 96 million.

But as we see, Revis wanted 96 or 16 a year. So we definitely weren't matching that next offseason. Instead of getting the last pick fo the 3rd round next year by letting him walk. We got a middle 4th or 3rd plus the first year. Not that bad. Obviously I wanted more, but looks lke Bucs very cautious about Revis' injury

If we draft Cooper or Warmack it would be a lot like getting Mangold when we traded Abraham away. Even if Wilson does not cut it we could wait until next year to find our CB of the future.
