I guess we'll have to see what we really get back from Tampa, but this draft where no QB is a clear cut NFL starter and two guards are being considered top 15, speaks to the level of top end talent. I wouldn't mind coming down from the 9th for a small piece this year and the larger part next.

    A. If Dee Milliner is still there at #9 I hope we take him

    B. If Dee is gone I say trade back hopefully with MIN for their 2 firsts at #23 and #25.

@ #9 - Dee Milliner or trade down

    @ #13 - Star Lotulelei / Ezekiel Ansah / Tavon Austin

If we trade #9 for #23 and #25 from MIN I would:

    @ #23/#25 - Kenny Vaccaro / Jarvis Jones/ Chance Warmack / Cordarrelle Patterson

Unless we can find a FA stopgap, we're going to have to take a corner early. Right now the Jets' depth there is pretty terrible.

Cro, Wilson, Trufant, Lankster, Berry is far better than

    Dawan, Bush, Allen or
    Colon, Ducasse, Schlauderaff or
    Goodson, Powell, McKnight or
    Sanchez, Garrard, McElroy, Tebow or
    Barnes, Pace, McIntyre, Sapp

We have some of the same targets but they may not be there where you picked them.

At 13 we will hopefully get the second guard (probably Cooper, maybe Warmack). Assuming 9 gets us both Minn picks #23 is where we should target Patterson.

There is enough depth at TE to get one later. Also, if we trade out fourth for Chris Ivory RB becomes a lower priority.

I think pick 25 is where OLB or DT will be BPA (if someone awesome falls to 23 we take him there and hope we can find our WR at 25).

Round 2 could be RT, DB, front 7 or trade down for more picks. Once we have a G, a WR, and a front 7 guy we really ned to stick to BPA as much as possible.

If a team trades up with us, its for Austin....

    13- Kenny Vacarro
23- Jarvis Jones(If he falls this far)
    25- DeAndre Hopkins

Take either Ertz in round 2....take best available guard in round 3. Round 4 probably draft Dysert, Ivory comes to us in round 5, round 6 take a flier on a OT prospect, round 7 take a CB prospect and there you go.

Heck I can even see another trade down somewhere in like round 3 or so to get a 5th back.

Baker, sorry if you've posted this before by why not Eifert? I know the Jets have been linked to Ertz, just wanted to hear your opinion on Eifert

I'd love Eifert but its tough to expect him to be there by our pick in round 2. I think he goes by the end of round one but if Eifert's there for our pick, by all means do pick him.

I might be entertaining taking him at 25 if we were to get those picks.

I would love to see us trade back the 9 and take one of the guards at 13.

I don't have the love for Austin that many do. I think he is a terrible fit for the team. Sanchez is to erratic, his arms are to small to reach for Sanchez's passes and Sanchez is not capable of throwing screen passes to utilize him. Plus imagine how easily he could get injured reaching fro one of Sanchez's erratic passes. Yes he might survive until 2014 but then again Sanchez could cripple him.

obviously parlaying the 9 into 2 1st rders would be ideal, but if not I'd be happy with Jarvis Jones, then Warmack..... (player with a strong chance to be @ that slot)

Titans at 10 and Chargers at 11 both need Guard help. We might be better served getting the G and then whoever at 13, Jones, Mingo, Austin, Vaccaro.

    jones/ansah jordan(dare to dream) at 9

austin or trade back at 13

i think idzick gets rex a pass rusher to keep the "dead man walking" articles from being written. 2 offensive players and it will look like rex is being hung out to dry

i want austin he is an electric player and something we haven't had in a while

Well if there is ever a draft to have multiple picks this one is it. Nice to see something working the jets way......

Think we'll be looking at least at 2 starters from this draft with a shot at 3.

Agree that the jets use 1 of the 1st rounders as a swing pick and try to parlay that into an extra pick, or 2.

    Psyched for Thursday.

If our draft is centered on offense it's because that's where the roster is lacking. We have shite on defense in terms of OLB, S and potentially NT but you can say the same about 8/11 players that would start for this offense tomorrow. And that's if Holmes comes back the way he was in 2010, which was a while ago now.

Personally, Im not sure if I would want the Jets to trade back if the team wants Austin. He's one of my favorite players for the Jets in this draft. I want him on this team, not someone elses... One can only dream.

Thank G-d for sanity! I'm with you, but I wouldn't mind trading back with the ninth for a first this year and next.

I'm all for trading 9 to anybody for a late first this year and a #1 next (Minn?)

    13. J Jones, OLB UGA
    23. D Hopkins, WR Clemson
    40. Warlord, G UK
Third round: Swearinger, Rambo or Williams (all safeties)

Have to believe Tampas third round and Minn first in 2014

    I agree 100%.

I wouldn't draft Hopkins at 23 but with the idea of picking up a 1st next year. If we could do a deal like above we'd be going into the 2014 draft with a high pick of our own, another 1st from a team and an extra 3rd rounder.

You'd like to think we'd be in a great position to get our franchise QB in 2014 then in someone like Bridgewater. My ideal scenario would be 1st overall pick to select the best QB available while keeping all our picks going forward, it would be heaven. You could fill in so many holes with the other 1st round pick while having the 1st pick in every round plus the Bucs 3rd rounder.

We'd be in a fantastic position going forward with loads of talent added in the 2013/14 draft and finally having a handle on our cap situation to add players when or if needed to round off the roster.

Okay, I admit my secret. I want Hopkins this year and (since I don't want to suck in 13, just so-so) draft Boyd next year. They already have chemistry
