Geez this place will be going bonkers on Thursday.

  2. Good original post.vikes would make a lot of sense. Still though I'm not sure if pass on the chance to draft Austin.sure he's only one guy on a teAm with so many holes but the jets need for a dynamic playmaker is acute

It was better when the Jets were the one and only team to ever have 4 1st round picks..Abraham, Ellis, Pennington and Becht I believe.

They did extremely well with three out of the four. Jets needs to stay out of the first round TE business (Mitchell, Brady and Becht...Yuck!).

TE is not a 1st round position. Really C, G and ILB should not be a 1st round position either. You can argue S, since speed, size and athleticism are all at a premium for the position. You can make an argument for great players at supporting positions in the 1st round though.

    Rough Prioritization would be:

    QB, LT
    OLB, DE
    WR, DT
    RB, RT
    MLB, CB
    FS, SS
    ---------
    LG, ILB
    C, RG
    TE, FB

And didn't they trade their first for Jolly too? The same year they used their 2nd on Nugent.

Not true, last year had a nearly record number of trades and it was the first year with the new rules on rookie pay (or was it the 2nd?) anyways, it's actually made trading high picks more likely since your no longer trading a bunch of picks for a potentially very over priced top pick.

There have been several write ups on this matter.

That said, to get me to move from #9 to #23 would require one of the following 3 things to happen.
    1) Both vikings 1st round picks.
    2) Vikings 1st and second this year, and first next year (following year picks always have lower values).
    3) Vikings 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th picks.

In other words, it would be expensive for the Vikings, but yeah if any of those 3 scenarios popped I'd probably pull the trigger.

Side note, I could see the Rams and the Vikings get in to a bidding war for the #9 pick if Austin or one of the top 3 OT's are on the board still at #9. Neither would make it past the next few picks....

    I could picture that.

Idzik: "Minnesota is giving up both firsts, what can you offer?"

Rams GM: "we'll give you both of our 1's and a second."

Idzik (to Vikings GM): "what do you got?"

Damn just thinking about the possibilities has me feeling like a little kid again.

A while ago it was tough to picture us trading from the #9 pick. Now more and more possibilities are opening up.

Why trade up to 9 when you could trade up to 10, or 11, or 12? None of those teams will be taking Tavon...?

Again fellas, this isn't madden, trades are hard to project. Fun to talk about, but again, it's impossible to predict.

This would be awesome. We get out OLB and in my opinion the best WR in this draft.

I think that those teams would be more hesitant to trade back than us. Titans are likely going to grab OL, Chargers might want to trade up themselves, if my pick BPA at their own pick, and the Phins are supposibly looking to trade up themselves, and if they don't I don't see them trading back anyways with all the picks they have.

It's obviously my opinion and what I see happening and I know that it is very possible that any of those teams do trade back, or that Idzik simply doesn't want to trade back, but like you said it's fun to talk about.

If the Jets have a QB they like enough to take a shot in the 1st then trading down becomes a really good option. The guy(s) they might be looking at are potentially scary on the 9 but not in the mid to late 1st with a few more picks in the bank in a trade down.

Actually any of the teams from 10-12 could take and use Austin....though the dolphins are a real possibility to move in to the top 7 to take one of the top 3 OT's. They have the ammunition to make the move.

and no it's not Madden, but both the Rams and the Vikings (and to some extent the Falcons) have all been rumored to be wanting to move in to the top 10 to land one of the elite talents.

So no, it's not Madden, but it's not like the background noise on these aren't being discussed in legitimate channels. It doesn't mean the trades will occur, but to say no chance they will is also quite ignorant.

Then again drafts are hard to predict, past the first 3-5 picks in most drafts, so why talk about them or try to mock or predict them? Like you said it's not madden.....:breakdance:

The dark horse to move up for Austin is SF. Here is a team with a ton of picks and very few holes. Getting a player like Austin could help them become even more dangerous.
