Drafting players is a funny thing. It's never about one facet but rather the entire equation. Medical/College production/Physical skills/frame/Scheme fit/off the field The second you get too wrapped up into one of these aspects that's when you start adding more & more risk to a pick. It can't all be about college production. I'm sorry it just can't. Take a look at the Ncaa all time sack leaders. Did every one of these guys become an unstoppable force in the NFL? http://collegefootball.about.com/od/history/a/rec-sacks.htm Terrell Suggs Jason Babin David Pollack Shaun Phillips Elvis Dumervil Dwight Freeney Dave Ball Lawrence Jackson Matt Roth Jorge Cordova Bo Schobel Kenechi Udeze Johnathan Goddard Calvin Pace Antwan Peek There are some good names but clearly quite a few who were major disappointments. Isn't that enough to suggest that you need to do your homework regardless of the stats? So why does the fact that jones HAS concerns in some of these other facets ( Medical,Physical skills & scheme fit) ruffle so many feathers?
To further my argument..the Sec's all time sack leaders. Alot of busts & non NFL contributors. http://www.fbsstatistics.com/sec.htm#866911080 1 1 1 Derrick Thomas Alabama 27 1988 23 8 3 Derrick Thomas Alabama 18 1987 27 1 1 Billy Jackson Mississippi State 17 1980 60 6 3 Billy Jackson Mississippi State 15 1981 60 9 3 Reggie White Tennessee 15 1983 60 55 3 Willie Evans Mississippi State 15 2005 90 90 1 Jarvis Jones Georgia 14.5 2012 100 52 5 Henry Ford Arkansas 14 1993 100 56 3 Steven Conley Arkansas 14 1995 100 79 5 David Pollack Georgia 14 2002 100 92 2 Jamaal Anderson Arkansas 14 2006 129 81 7 Jonathan Brown Tennessee 13.5 1997 129 128 2 Jarvis Jones Georgia 13.5 2011 146 69 6 Mitch Davis Georgia 13 1993 146 100 6 Alex Brown Florida 13 1999 146 146 3 Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina 13 2012 204 66 9 Huey Richardson Florida 12.5 1989 204 114 8 Greg Favors Mississippi State 12.5 1996 204 169 5 David Pollack Georgia 12.5 2004 204 204 8 Damontre Moore Texas A&M 12.5 2012
The only A given out in this 3 rd. mock is Jarvis Jones at 9. We should be able to find better prospects in the 2nd and 3rd.
The thing that's really amazing about that list is that Jarvis Jones is on it. In only two years of play. The list is dated of course, which is why Jones name doesn't actually appear, but his 28 sacks the last TWO years makes him 12th leading NCAA sacker of all time. In TWO years of play. If he'd played three years at the pace he established he'd have broken the top 6 pretty easily (just 3 sacks required.) Of the top 6 all of them are/were superstars except for David Pollack, who broke his neck in his second NFL season and was forced to retire. That list tells us that Jarvis Jones is very likely to be a superstar sacker unless an injury lays him low.
SO you basically ignored everything I said & disregarded all the people on the list who DIDN'T become a superstar. Okie dokie.
I could care less what your opinion is. I wouldn't have called you on your lies if it was just opinions. You made shit up and I (as well as others) called you on it. You've maybe seen Jarvis Jones one or two games, period. I doubt you've ever seen him play. I've seen every UGA and Clemson game played for years. That is how I know you are full of shit. Now you try and deflect with your homophobic response about being in a players jock. If you think it doesn't get more insulting then to be called on your many lies, quit lying. BTW I admit, I am an amateur at message boarding. How much are you paid for your lies?
You aren't worth another second of my time. Go ahead & think I'm a liar. I'd rather be percieved as a liar than some SEC homer clown like you.
If this draft went something like....Jarvis Jones, Cristine Michael, and Marcus Wheaton I would be happy.
