Thinking (Or hoping) its a smokescreen and that we don't go QB this year or until in the later rounds like 4 or 5.

We would have to trade up into the very early 2nd or late first to get EJ.

no chance we get him. unless the Eagles were to take Geno in the first. I think the Bills would take Nassib. I have Zona taking Manuel in the second in my latest mock.

We could trade back in the 1st and take Manuel. Let the 9 become the 13 then the 13 becomes the 16 and the 16 becomes the 24 and the Jets have picked up 3 or 4 extra picks and they're in Manuel range.

That is a fantasy, finding a trade partner(s) is a lot more difficult.

EJ Manuel should be available in early Rd 2.

Still a waste of a pick. Anyone who watched him over the years at FSU knows that he never lived up to his hype. He is a project at best. The speed and talent that kid had at FSU he should've been leading the country in yards and TD's. You don't reach on a QB just because you need one. Stick with Garrard and the other guys on the current roster and address all of the other needs early in this draft. Maybe a 4th or 5th rounder on a QB like Matt Scott.

Lots of "experts" have the Jets picking him in the second.

By the way, who are the Jets QB scouts? Please don't tell me Bradway is involved in any way. That's a recipe for disaster...again.

Manuel has been rising on draft boards the last few weeks. There has been a lot of speculation teams will need to trade into the 20's to get him. I even saw in a recent draft him going 8th to the Bills. if we want to get him we would likely have to move back or up into the 20's to grab him. Maybe even earlier. It always seems QBs move up the closer we get to the draft.

Bradway is probably still involved. He was the one pushing for Russell Wilson last year. Let's hope he can find another QB outside the first couple rounds this year.

So here are some underpinnings for the idea.

The Jets and the Bucs have been talking a lot about the 13 pick. It's not that far out of the realm of possibility for somebody the Bucs covet to slip to 9 and then they're thinking "let's call the Jets and see if we can get the 9 for the 13 plus."

The Rams are looking for all the world like they are coveting a play-maker in the 1st round. So the Jets are sitting on 13 and the Rams offer them the 16 plus so they can draft Tavon Austin, somebody very possibly on the Jets list but unlikely to be on the Panthers or Saints queue.

The Colts are looking for an offensive lineman and with Joeckel, Fisher, Johnson and Warmack off the board they might well be interested in trading up for Cooper or Fluker, neither of whom look to get down to the 24.

It might be a bit far-fetched but I could see the Jets pulling off the string of trades I mentioned and with the real value in the draft from 15 to 50 or so it would probably be a very good sequence of trades for the Jets.

All speculation and pie in the sky.

I wouldn't waste time worrying about or considering these scenarios, just wait and see what happens.

I like Manuel. Don't really see him being there when we pick in the second probably go a lil before us... There's a chance though.

I agree. In a draft as weak (in the 1st round) as this one it has to be very hard to trade back. Probably our best case scenario is to trade back to someone looking for one of the 3 OTs like the Cowboys or the Phins. But the odds of any of the 3 being there at 9 is not great. The 13 is great spot for teams looking to jump ahead of the Rams to grab Austin.

Finding a trade partner is likely very hard as I am sure lots of teams want to move back and there are not many reasons for teams to move up.

I have not seen a draft this volatile at the top end in a long time. Usually by now most if not all of the 10 picks are close to certain. But there is so much uncertainty this year it should make the draft even more exciting.

I think he goes anywhere from the 25 (Vikings) to the 35 (Eagles). The spots I could really see him going on are 29 (Patriots), 31 (49ers), 33 (Jaguars) and 34 (49ers).

I called this months ago -- not necessarily the Jets interest in him. But EJ is, IMO, the best QB prospect in this draft.

Too bad they didn't listen to him then. Of course if they had he would have never played a down and they probably would have cut him at the end of the year.
