I could be wrong, or it could be the yahoo scouting report. It doesn't take into account lost fumbles but total fumbles that could of been recovered by the offense. Looking it up, I always see the 32 career fumbles in the scouting report as of late.

I'm not twisting anything, it's a great accomplish, I'm with you. Just saying the Big 12 is not known for it's defense, let alone Baylor. Baylor was ranked 119th against the pass in College Football.

The Big 12 does tend to produce great college QB's who are not good at the pro level. I think Geno Smith (and Landry Jones) are both a solid notch above the Colt McCoy's and Chase Daniel's in terms of NFL readiness.

I'm still not thinking either of them is a lock though.

One of the things the Big 12 does is to force QB's to throw a lot in a wide open game state. The question is whether they can dial it back some and still function well in a ball control offense where they get fewer chances to make an impact.

PFW, the site that released the scathing review of Geno as a person that most analysts laughed at, is the only place I found 32, besides a bleacher report post that sites it, and here. If you google Geno smith 32 fumbles, this thread is the fourth listing.

It very well could be 32, but I don't exactly trust Nawrocki. He has a tendency to try to drum up attention by releasing these type of reports.

At least some think the Jets will take EJ Manuel in the second..At least he has size which would be refreshing.

When I see the name EJ Manuel, I think of the quote by Kurt Herbstreit leading up to the Orange Bowl that "EJ Manuel is capable of keeping Northern Illinois in the game."

And this after Herbstreit mocked NIU and blasted the Bowl Committee for allowing NIU into the Orange Bowl and, after his pre-season pick of FSU winning the national title with "the offense they've surrounded EJ Manuel with".

It's in the Jets best interest for people to be wondering what they're going to do on the 9. That gives them the best possible leverage to trade the pick and it somewhat increases the chances of somebody trading up for a player in front of them and promoting more value on the pick.

Whether you like Geno Smith or not it is in the Jets best interest at this point that he is seen as a plausible pick at that spot.

Actually, even removing that game he still threw for the 4th-most TDs in the FBS. How many QBs can you take out their best game (not just their best game, but a historic game) and they still are in the top five for TDs?

OK, that was a rhetorical question. One. The answer is one.

FTR, I think the WCO in terms of timing, providing your WRs the ability to run after the catch, those are the things Geno is very good with.

OTOH, if your OC is going to cling strictly to WCO principles like deprioritizing the shotgun, then Smith will have more of a learning curve.

As far as the fumbles issue, I looked into it on the Browns board I post on and the last three years he's had 8, 12, and 8 fumbles. I didn't check his freshman year, but four seems like a reasonable number so I believe the 32. It's near the top of the NCAA, but it's not out of whack with his pass attempts, and put him at 17th in the FBS this past year.

By the way, Mike Glennon, who threw the most INTs of all FBS QBs this year, was also second in fumbles with 13.

If it's a smoke screen, it means they are trying to hold off a team from behind them trading up for Geno and snagging him from them.

I honestly don't know, this Jets FO has left me with no idea what they are thinking of and with a high pick I'm really excited. I've never been high on Geno so I'm okay if the Jets pass on him
