Just FYI the package of next year picks that it would take to move from 9 to 3 is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Trading up is expensive but trading up with next year's picks is ridiculous. Assuming the Jets wanted to go up to 3 for Jordan, which would be a major error in my opinion, the best path would be the 9, 39, 72 and 106 and tell the Raiders to take it or leave it even though it's still a bit short on value. Trading the 1st for next year should be completely off the table for the Jets. If they have an injury-dropout year and actually lose 14 games and we traded the 1st to get anybody this year the entire board would be jumping out windows come the draft next year.
Definitely agree that we shouldn't trade up in the first round. If there is someone in the second or third round we really want to target and it's not going to cost a hell of a lot sure, why not. But I would just keep our picks and draft as many potential starters as possible, even can take a few guys that might be more risky, like Lattimore, if we get a pile of extra picks.
I'm not at all opposed to taking Dion Jordan. I think he's a good prospect. If he's there on the 9 he'd be a good pick.
Assuming that Jordan goes at three. I would not support a move that grandiose. Im saying a spot or two.,, Orherwise, Ziggy or Jarvis woukd give you mode bang for the buck
There are no moves up in the top 10 that are not grandiose. There's too much value in the very early picks on the traditional chart. Trading up for them is always going to bleed value all over the place. There's no point in trading up a spot or two either. If the Cardinals are going to take Jordan then the Jets get Lane Johnson. If the Bills are going to take Jordan, well it's better to let them do that than to give them extra value *and* the next pick.
I love Key but as good as he was he wasn't great like Revis. revis is w/o a doubt the best player at his position, we could never say that about Key.
He'd be a home run pick for sure. He'd be able to start day 1 as an upgrade in terms of size, speed, athleticism, coverage ability & pass rush. Additionally the sky is the limit w/ his potential. I doubt he makes it to 9..but man oh man.
Just saw this on ESPN. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/9173439/new-york-jets-put-darrelle-revis-trade-talks-hold
How about a 1,3,5 and we'll throw in Tebow? I wouldn't even ask for an extra 7th in return just to clean the table once and for all.
Random rant here...I'm tired of every guy who tears his ACL being deemed "ahead of schedule". It just is the norm now to come back and be fully healthy by the next yr.
so true. at this point we know that rehab and new technologies has sped up the recovery time. lets just make it on schedule until the new stuff comes out
If those are your glasses in your avatar then I might understand how you might have missed it. Here's a couple anyway. http://tracking.si.com/2013/04/15/jets-pause-darrelle-revis-talks/ http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/9173439/new-york-jets-put-darrelle-revis-trade-talks-hold I'm sure if you care to find them there are plenty more.
Yeah, its political speech. Its the same as a biartisan consensus that gets one middlle of the road guy going against his party. Pure bullshit. Good call.
I was serious on that count.Key made some amazing vrabs that year. I remember ine third down grab he picked up off fhe grass to keep a drive foing.
And it is in the Revis' camp best interest to get that news out so as to push along the trade..AND probably the exact reason the Jets have put it on hold..what better way to drive up the price? (although somebody reported that both sides knew this before he was examined..so who knows)
