I hope you're right man, I'd be pumped. And if the cap hit is relatively low then it'll show Idzik knows what he is doing. I was asking people a month ago if it was a forgone conclusion that he was going to be gone or if this could be part of a negotiation strategy and everyone told me that he was good as gone, only a matter of when and to who so I started getting on the "what can we get for him" bandwagon but, honestly, I'd much rather keep him around if the cap hit was reasonable.

Not sure if it's been discussed on here (at 93 pages, it's hard to imagine it hasn't been) but if I'm the Jets I do whatever I can to get their first next year in a Revis trade. I'd hope for a 2nd this year and 1st next year, but I could probably be convinced to do a 3-and-4 or 3-and-5 this year + 1st next year. The NFC South isn't getting any easier, and the Bucs could be picking higher than they are this year when the Jets are trying to draft a QB in 2014.

It's been discussed ad nauseum. What's the value in a 25 pick in next year's draft as a major part of the compensation for Revis?

If you see it as a chip to trade up for Clowney or Bridgewater you're probably just wishing because nobody who has one of those guys in their sights next year is going to trade the pick for a package that includes a playoff 1st unless that's a minor piece of the package.

I'm not opposed to a deal that includes the Buc 2014 1st but the deal has to be overloaded in 2013 to make sense. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th this year plus the 2014 1st? Maybe. Note that by the traditional chart the 13 pick is more valuable than the 4 picks I listed above if you see the Bucs 1st round in 2014 as a playoff pick or near it. For a rebuilding team 4 picks vs 1 would probably be worth it.

On the other hand, the Jets position at this point seems to be that the price for Revis is the 13 plus other stuff and the value in that deal blows away any package based on the 2014 1st.

Every day I come by to read this thread. And I catch up on posts I missed, and a few laughs and it's great. But you know what the best part of my day is? It's for about ten seconds from when I go to theganggreen.com and open up this thread. Because I think maybe I'll get in there and I'll open the post and he'll finally be traded. No goodbye, no see you later, no nothin'. Just traded. I don't know much, but I know that.

    Look at this

While poking around the question of whether the Jets could be trying to include quarterback-of-all-trades Tim Tebow in the package (which would keep the Jets from cutting Tebow and seeing him sign with the Patriots), we tripped over a previously unknown nugget. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the discussions between the Jets and Bucs have included the possibility of the Buccaneers assuming the contract of quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Yes, Sanchez. He has a guaranteed base salary of $8.25 million for 2013. If he didn’t, Sanchez would have been cut by now. If the Jets could unload that obligation, they’d surely jump at the chance.

It’s unclear whether Sanchez would compete for the starting job in Tampa. On one hand, he hasn’t done enough in recent years to justify the opportunity. On the other hand, coach Greg Schiano doesn’t seem to be sold on quarterback Josh Freeman, who was taken 12 spots behind Sanchez in the 2009 draft.

Sanchez thrived in New York during a couple of Schiano’s seasons at Rutgers. Schiano possibly thinks he could coax better performances out of the man who took the Jets to back-to-back AFC title games to start his career. In Tampa, his offensive coordinator would be Mike Sullivan, who helped Eli Manning to a couple of Super Bowl wins.

The 13, 73 and 181 for Revis and Sanchez?

    In a heartbeat.

that would be fun, flash forward to 2014 as mark sanchez and Darrelle Revis deliver TB their 2nd SB title 12 years after Keyshawn helped TB win their first.

I wonder how we could possibly get the Bucs to take Sanchez's contract without really hurting the trade value. Would we even still get a first for Revis, if that's the case? I guess we'll see. I'm excited, although part of me still thinks Revis will stay.

Desperation leads people to do stupid things.

If Idzik pulls this off, he should get executive of the year. Hell, just give me a pick in 2013 for them both.

As much as I'm anti Sanchez, this would just scare the shit out of me.

^Why? I would love this trade, assuming we still get some good picks.

I'm all for the trade. But this is the Jets. Sanchez would turn into an all pro and win Tampa the Super Bowl..
