With how deep the draft is this year, the JETS should ask for a 2nd round pick this year from the Bucs, and a 1st and 3rd round pick next year as compensation for Revis. The top two players hands down for next's years draft will be Teddy Bridgewater and Jadeveon Clowney and with two 1st round draft picks and a 3rd round pick, the JETS can use that to trade up and get either player. The Bucs went 7-9 and they are at best a 6-10 or 7-9 team looking at their schedule for this upcoming season with games against the Falcons(twice), Saints(twice), Panthers(twice), Patriots, 49ers, Seahawks, Eagles, JETS, Cardinals, Lions, Dolphins, Rams, and the Bills. This year the Bucs have the 13th pick in the 1st round, and next year, they will more than likely have a pick anywhere between 1 and 15. I don't want to see Revis go but if he we can't resign him after the season and the JETS get nothing for him that would suck.
So you don't think that the Bucs win a couple extra games by having someone like Revis in their lineup?
Nope. They are still below the Falcons and Saints in their division and I don't see them making the playoffs in the NFC with their upcoming schedule.

I was thinking roughly the same thing. Get a 1st and 3rd/4th in 2014 (the 3rd/4th can be conditional) and a 2nd in 2013. You add a potential starter with the second rounder this year and we'll either be in position to draft a franchise QB or can use the second first rounder as leverage to get into the necessary spot to get one (theoretically at least). Who are we going to get with the 9th and 13th anyway? A DE and maybe a lineman or possibly a receiver? That's important and it will help but we still need a franchise QB. Unless Idzik is planning on drafting one in this class which seems to be wildly considered as a very, very underwhelming class whereas next year has a few potential franchise guys already and who knows what another season might bring as far as guys taking that next step. That being said, as someone else noted, Idzik seems to be planning on getting a bunch of comp picks for the 2014 draft. Maybe he hopes he can trade up if necessary (not necessarily using the comp picks in the trade but using them to fill the gaps for lost picks) and go from there. Either way I think our best bet is getting a QB in the 2014 draft and having additional picks (especially a first rounder) next year is only going to increase the odds of that happening.
We'll have to see. I see the Bucs as an up and coming team. Freeman had a decent season and they drafted a monster RB in Martin. Their offense was ranked #9 but their defense was all the way down at #29. If they level out the D it will certainly translate to more wins. They tied with the Saints last season. When you have Matt Ryan, Cam Newton and Drew MF Brees in the division, a shutdown corner becomes very valuable and yes it could put them over the top. I firmly believe that if the Bucs improve their defense to average or better, they will be fighting the Saints for the top spot. Honestly, I see the Falcon declining a little with the losses they had on defense this off season.
Next year's picks are for next year. You have to rebuild in an even and consistent manner. Picking a player this year that you think might not blossom till next year is a possibility but deferring the picks to next year is less appetizing. Teams that defer value that way tend to be talented and warehousing some picks in the future because the guys they'd take now probably won't make the team. Every pick the Jets make this year has an excellent chance to make the team.
I agree...I don't think TB gives up 2 #1s for Revis with all his headaches. I'd take the 2 this year and settle for enjoying rooting against the Bucs this season and relishing having 2 first rounders and 2 thirds next year.
Getting the 13 ovr plus whatever other picks involved gives us immediate power. It makes absolutely zero sense to get picks in next draft if we can get them for this draft. If someone drops that we gotta have we take him. We still have the option to trade out of the pick if we so desire. Say we get a 1st, 3rd and 6th from TB. 13 comes along, whose to say we can't trade out of that pick for future picks if we choose. Say we get a 2nd, 4th & 1st to move out of that spot, then we have truly maximized Revis value, essentially becoming a 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th and 6th. I really hope Idzik is thinking this way, this is how you get a boatload of picks for Revis and start this rebuilding the right way.

Schein makes a good point. It's not only about how many teams are after Revis... it's also about how much does Tampa want/need Revis? To me the answer is A LOT. Without him there's no way they make it out of that division alive. With him, they have some hope. Look at the Palmer to the Raiders trade... it wasn't about how many teams wanted Palmer, it was about how much the Raiders wanted him.

Look, nobody knows for sure how the Revis deal is going to turn out, but at this moment, I am so glad that team Tanny/Ryan weren't still running the show. In 3 years we might all be calling for Idzy's head, but so far, I think he's handled things the way a professional does. Quietly and close-to-the-vest...
Or you can trade the 13 for the 49ers 1st and 2nd (KCs) and you have 5 picks inside the top 75 picks. Either way, if we get the 13 overall (plus their 3rd and 6th), Id be very happy. I said from the beginning, if we can get a 1st and 3rd, you take it. In this case, those picks are relatively high in the round which is a big plus.
I llike how Idzik isnt making it easy for the Bucs, but at the same time were gonna lose revis for one first round pick and it isnt gonna change the franchise for the better so im really not excited about it at alll
13th pick gets us an offensive playmaker... a difference maker. The player doesn't have to be better than Revis in order for the trade to make the Jets better.
